Nathan Fillion Does Not Voice Cayde-6 in Forsaken Confirmed
So that rumor is actually true in a recent Kotaku article Nathan confirms he did not voice Cayde-6 in Forsaken, he just wasn't available for it, and it's actually Nolan North who voices Cayde-6. Article here: https://kotaku.com/nathan-fillion-tells-us-how-that-great-uncharted-fan-fi-1827634379

I'm glad they at least gave the role to someone who should be able to do it justice. Most people that played the opening mission at E3 seemed to not notice any difference, so that is a good sign.

Isn’t it a little strange that the voice of the ghost will be coming out of Cayde-6’s mouth-hole? It’ll be like he ate our ghost. And honestly Nolan North must be really hustling for work cause it’s like he’s everywhere. It’s like watching an anime with English dubbing and no matter what anime it is there’s Crispin Freeman.

Oh God NOOOOOO, if I have to hear the guy who does my Ghost too (who talks WAYYYYY TOOO MUCH) I might just delete the game. They could at least make my character talk. I use to like watching the cut scenes in D1 but just skip them now in D2. Can't Bumblebee just be my Ghost now.

I assumed as much. Anytime a likable character is killed off it seems to be cause the actor moved on. Except in Vikings. Worst day of my life. I’m still in denial lol.

2 RepliesThis is why bungie needs to just hire really good voice actors and actresses. Getting celebrity’s is all well and good but if you can’t get them to be available whenever you need voice lines done it’s only going to hurt the game in the long run

Yeah I read this earlier too. It seems pretty clear to me they've only killed Cayde off because they've lost Fillion as voice actor.

9 RepliesLMAO, Cayde is already dead before the Forsaken expansion. Fillion is what made the character likeable, and he's gone. And to top it all off, he was replaced with the same guy who killed Dinklebot and made me hate having a speaking ghost. They took the single most dramatic story arc they've had in Destiny and shat on it by not giving Cayde his deserved farwell with the proper voice actor. (You know they could have made Fillion "available" if they had offered more money. Recording voice lines doesn't months on a set. It doesn't even require the actor to shower) To each their own, but I'm personally glad I didn't succumb to the hype this time and pre-order.

If that is the case then can it be possible that they (Bungie) decided that they won't be bringing Cayde back because of this, or that its part of the original game plan? I hope its not over money demands, because if they can afford pay bloody Paul Mc Cartney for a shite, cringeworthy song then they can throw Nathan Fillion a few extra dollars for his contribution.

Nolan is a pretty good voice actor, don’t let his shitty portrayal of ghost (probably bungie’s fault) give you the idea that he is a bad voice actor.

I expect this will illustrate just how wide a vocal range Nolan North has. That's why I think if Bungie could secure a similarly flexible voice actress (like Veronica Taylor in Pokémon), our Guardian could speak again: Nolan could handle the male ones, and the actress could do the female ones.
