Making Trostland Lore: What Bungie Didn't do

Hello! I was inspired to make this after seeing a video by Darkside Royalty Lore about how the writing of Destiny 2 was absolutely horrible. I, like most, happened to agree with him and took interest in one specific part of the video where he mentioned how each location should receive its own in-depth lore. He specifically mentioned the church in Trostland, so I decided to adopt the task for myself. It should be noted that I, a 16-year-old boy, was able to make this in less than a day, and a large team of writers could not do this for Trostland and other locations in over a year (maybe even two, I don’t know how long it was). That’s my little explanation of why I’m typing this out, now let’s get started! Darkside Royalty Lore: Youtube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCH-hcRugzT6SmfVPR4clVsA Twitter: https://twitter.com/DSR_Joker My Information: Twitter: https://twitter.com/BOTBPvP PSN: BOTBPvP Area Summary: I imagine you could find this would be done in a grimoire card type format. I think having it be from a golden age website, similar to Google Maps. Here’s an example: Tungle* Maps Entry (2109): “Located about 50 miles East of Munich, Trostland is a medium-sized German town along the Austrian border. Like many other towns in the region, the economy of Trostland is based primarily on salt mining. It is known for its historic Maevic Square in the center of the town, as well as its views of the Salzach River.” *Tungle is the Google alternative I made up since Bungie would have had to if they had bothered to do this. Findable Items: I imagine these could work like Cayde’s journal entries. You can obtain them from chests (whether they be from lost sectors, public events, or just random loot caches) and will pop up in your inventory. When you put your cursor over the item, it will give you the ability to read them. Like with Cayde, these would be journal entries written by a new character involved with the region. Afterward, you could give them to Devrim in exchange for glimmer, but you should still be able to view them, possibly in his inventory. Here’s an example of what one of these entries might be like: Item Name: Entry from Father Lukas Schmidt’s Journal (Translated) “May 17th, 2251,* Today, the Lord has sent us a blessing. Early this morning, we were going about our daily routines when two people came into town on some sparrows, wearing armor and carrying weapons. One was a tall, muscular man, carrying an assault rifle and shotgun, and the other, a shorter women wearing a cape, with a pistol holstered on her side and a sniper draped on her back. Of course, with me having taken the role of mayor in our community, they were sent to me. They told me that a Fallen raid would take place in just a few hours and that they were here to SAVE US from them. I was dumbfounded. I asked just how much would having two more fighters really help us. They responded by telling me they were Iron Lords. That is not a name I will soon forget.” *I took liberty with the date since there hasn’t really been an exact date given. Devrim Lore: Although Devrim isn’t exactly a big part of Trostland’s history, he is the location’s vendor and should get some story too. Doing it through dialogue blurbs would be best, in my opinion. Like DSR suggested, doing it by leveling up may be a good feature if you have the ability to replay it. Personally, I would have one be obtained at level 5, 10, 20, 30, 40, and 50. Here’s an example: Level 5 Dialogue: Devrim - “You know, I can see it. A second City, here. With this church at the center. A skyscraper there. A Vanguard office there. A wall over there. And my apartment. Right there. A home for me and Mark. I haven’t seen him since before the Red War. He’s safe at the Farm, but I’ve been posted here. He’s the best thing I have in my life. I hope I’ll see him soon.” TL;DR - I need to get a life.
