Without any kind of Hunter hating, can we please ask ourselves why Hunters are the slowest class?

In canon, through both Grimoire and in in-game dialogue, it’s stated many times over that of all the classes, Hunters are the fastest and most agile class. However, gameplay completely contradicts this and while they do keep most of their agility, they retain no speed. Even if a Hunter used ST0MP-335 or Keenscout/Focused Breathing or even both, they can never outpace a Warlock spamming Glide/Blink or a Titan spamming Lift. A Hunter could try spamming Double Jump, but the high verticality of the jump offers little or no speed benefits. To be quite frank, Hunters are slow. Hunters need something, anything, to be able to keep up with the speeds of Warlocks and Titans. But I know what some of you will say about Hunters being fast (yes, these were taken from previous discussions I’ve had or have seen others had about increasing speed on Hunters): “Arcstriders are already fast in Super. This will make them even worse!” 1). Arcstrider, Striker, and Sentinel all gain maximum sprint speed when in super. You can’t go any faster when you are already at the maximum limit. 2). Have you not seen how fast Dawnblade Warlocks can go in Super? They’re faster than sparrows! “But Gunslingers will be a problem. They already have Infinite Range on Golden Gun and you want them to move faster?” 1). Gunslingers have more problems with themselves than you realize. (Titans might find out soon with their throwable hammers, except you can actually pick your melee back up, so you still won’t truly understand the Throwing Knife struggle). 2). Golden Gun actually doesn’t have infinite range. It, believe it or not, has damage drop off. Plus, there are no armor bonuses or speed bonuses while using it. You move normally and take bullets normally. Besides, does it really matter? “Scrub Nightstalkers and their crutch Invisibility don’t need a stinking speed buff.” 1). I just wanna say that most of this hate against invisible Hunters comes from a persons inability to pay attention and/or aim and shoot the target. Seriously, it wasn’t even that hard to kill invisible Hunters to begin with. 2). There really is nothing more to say with this one. People just overreact to this Subclass in general. Sad really. It’s not Overpowered. It’s not game breaking. There would be nothing wrong with giving an edge to Hunters so they can finally keep up with their fellow classes. Either increase the sprint bonuses of all their speed based abilities and perks, or add the bonus of extra sprint speed to the Mobility stat. P.S. There are a few Anti-Hunter fanatics here on these forums that I want to address. I know who you are. You know who you are. I politely ask that you go away. Your pointless hate is not warranted or needed. Update: Just as I thought, half the comments I’ve seen either disregard any argument I’ve made or are of people who didn’t even take the time to read the post and just assumed what’s in it.

  • The problem I have is your comparing Hunter's base speed with a Warlock and Titan spam jumping... Your not actually comparing their base speeds. With that said I feel like in a straight line race with no spamming a Titan might win, then Hunter, lastly Warlock... Being the fastest doesn't necessarily mean top speed in this game and I could be wrong but I would say that when they say the Hunter class is the fastest they are also talking about elusiveness. Hunter's can move around PVP maps quicker than the other two classes because they are the most agile and the most elusive class in the game... Now in terms of supers I can't really comment on that because I only play as the Warlock class and the fact that while you're in your super that shouldn't really be a factor in base speed, arcstriders move insanely fast though so I'm not sure where your coming from thinking they aren't... Hunters do not need a speed increase because if you boost their speed with the fact that they're already the most elusive class in the game and have an exotic armor perk that regens health while moving lol that would make Hunters so OP in PVP it would be miserable... Anyways though not trying to hate on the Hunters I just feel that in terms of PVP the Hunter is the quickest and most elusive character in the game....

Because they're hot garbage. Their attitude, style, abilities, the whole Hunter class. A class dominated by obnoxious teenagers who know nothing about life.

    • Hunter main here since d1. We are once again the skill class. Let people trash hunters while knowing that all of that hate is just bluster because they're probably playing titan class. Warlocks and titans are much easier classes to use. Any beginner can pick up a controller and slam the ground like the hulk with the titans panic slam. Any newbie can play as a warlock and spam dawnblade. Only true players can cross map an enemy with a throwing knife and reset its cooldown with knife juggler. Gunslinger? Try running celestial and using that single concentrated shot on a wizard flying about like a giant winged -blam!- and hit that sweet spot for max damage. Only true players can run arcstrider and keep their super running long after stormcallers fizzle out. Nightstalker??!? People will say it takes no skill, they will say it is easy to shoot douche arrows and wait for people to walk into them. Try using that in pve and lock down a boss. Let me know how that goes for you. Hunters require the most skill. They are supposed to be faster, more agile, and more fluid. Even stripped of all of those things, we still crush it. In the end those telling people to "git gud!" Should stop maining slammy pants titans and actually take their own advice and try to be a hunter. Emphasis on try.

Hunters are the fastest on the ground and have the best vertical agility. The do not have boosters on their legs like titans so yes in the air the titan is faster. They cannot fly/glide like warlocks so yes once again the warlock will glide right past the hunter. Each has its advantages. In pve prefer the other 2 jumps, in pvp hunter jump is by far the best. Its balanced just not in your favor, you just have to accept it. Edit: Hunter may be overall slower than Titans, but are also better tanks that Titans. I can clear any room in Destiny 2 with arc strider and have some to spare. No other class can say the same. I know they buffed the Doom fangs and Crown Tempest. Now they are only 1 notch below the raiden flux hunter. But the Raiden Flux hunter is the best ad cl clear in Destiny 2. Orphius Hunter is the best for add control/orb generation and Celestial Hunter is the best for single shot pve damage. class ability can return in 18 seconds or faster. Add that hunters 1,2,and 3 in pvp means they need absolutely no speed buff. Already the class provided the most advantages in the game.

              • Lore has no barring on gameplay. That aside "mobility" is a vague term used all over the place. if we're talking about movement in general then: ~Titans have the best momentum. Via shoulder charge turning and titan skating. But their in air combat sucks. ~Warlocks have the best burst speed. Warlock sword gliding and the dawnblade super just to name some. But each warlock class has some burst type movement that's not apart of their glide. Their in air combat isn't as bad as titans. but still not the best. And you still need to select the proper nodes for some of the subclasses for the burst movement. ~Hunters have the best "agility." In this case that's referring to our dodge and our type of jump. Hunters have the best in air combat. So one class really isn't more mobile than another. it just depends on what type of movement you're looking for. And if you really think about it yes both titan and warlock can hit 10 mobility. But hunters can hit max armor and recovery. And so can a titan. All 3 classes can have 10 from any of the 3 stats. it's harder to do for some situations. but it's doable. All of that aside I feel you. I consider myself a hunter main even though I play all 3 classes frequently. Gunslinger needs a lot of work in general imho. I wish the dodge had a bigger effect on striders super. I wish night stalkers invis was actually useful. Though honestly considering how often we can have our dodge up at this point the only thing I realistically want is a farther dodge distance for our class ability. and/or a tone down of aim assist when we dodge. That way it can at least perform slightly more like an actual dodge than just an animation that does an effect.

              • I do main a hunter and I do in fact see the point of your argument but I don’t think hunters need that much of a buff arc strider can kill anything, and if hunters had even a slight buff it tend to make hunters op as shit all the time

                • Every argument you have is based on the super being active. Take a moment and a deep breath: SUPERS ARE NOT ACTIVE 100% OF THE TIME! So hunters are the fastest class. (mic drop)

                  • I play all 3 classes but focus on Hunter as that's my style. Of all 3 I agree my Hunter feels the most sluggish when running. When determining speed super's should not be part of it since they're used so infrequently, or when compared to simply running. I wish I could find the vid done right after the go fast update where somebody run actual tests. The Hunter did come out the slowest. I guess lore really doesn't count much these days.

                  • “Mobility” is a general term, and doesn’t just mean sprint speed. Hunters strafe faster and jump higher than other classes. So in that sense, hunters are the most “mobile” class.

                  • Mobility and speed are two different things. If you want to move fast as a Hunter then you have to wear St0mp-EE5 and run Strafe Jump. Then jump everywhere you want to go.

                  • Hunters should be the fastest, then warlocks, then titans. Dawnblade is pretty OP speed wise and titan skating is definitely still a thing. In general I think hunters are the most agile, but they definitely aren't as fast as they should be when considering raw speed.

                    • Let the hunters be twice as fast, and keep their agility. Though let the titans take twice as much damage. The warlocks have twice as fast recovery.

                      • I do find it ridiculous that when I’m on my Titan equipped with armor that gives me 10 Resistance, 6 to 8 Recovery (can’t remember exact number), and 1 Mobility, I can ‘outrun’ a hunter with 10 mobility. The forward burst of lift is so much faster.

                        • I agre, but other classes will complain about us regardless of any buff or nerf we get. I think bungo should buff the base speed boost and directional control for all double jumps, making it the quick snappy jump it’s supposed to be. However, titans should be able to move faster than us at the cost of control and agility, like the freight trains they’re supposed to be. I feel like warlocks were never meant to be that fast though.
