I know people in this forum are tired of seeing Warframe posts everywhere, I used to hate Warframe before too, but a majority of people who I see that are against Warframe just call it pay to win and it bothers me a bit... So here's what I think:
sure there may be things you can buy in-game like warframes and weapons and kits etc but if it really was a pay to win game do you think some of the harshest critics of pay to win games would be supporting it?
Jim Sterling, angry joe, and the late total biscuit were/are big supporters of Warframe and tended to completely blow out any sorta pay to win system in games so why wouldn't they go after Warframe?
Not to mention the fact that the entire online gaming community pretty much hates pay to win aspects and go after the devs/publishers responsible, ranting and raving and making petitions etc, but they don't, why? No, not because they're fanboys but because it simply isn't pay to win.
As a matter of fact Warframe probably has the best free to play system of any game atm as everything is earnable without paying a dime and most of the people that do spend money will typically tell you they do it out of the fact that they simply want to support Digital Extremes.

Edited by CatMan: 7/17/2018 8:36:47 AMP2W has two meaning imo (Note:This is just how I see it, Im not saying anyone else has to think like this.) P2W:
A:To purchase in game items with real money in order to progress faster or bypass grind for items in a video game. If its giving me an advantage over an enemy and I paid for it to do that, its p2w. OR B:To purchase in game items with real money that give you an advantage over anther players in a multiplayer (pvp) setting.
Example for A would be assassins creed XP boosters, and Legendary weapons. Or GTA Online...you know damn well what Im talking about. Example for B would be Cod for the last five years or so...again....you know exactly what in talking about. Edit: another very veeeeeeeery good example for A and a little bit of B is just as OP said. Warframe. Im ready for my down votes.

6 RepliesYou can pay to get DIFFERENT stuff, not BETTER stuff. Anyone who has gotten to the endgame in warframe knows that it is not pay to win.
-
6 RepliesWarframe is Pay to Progress. Digital Extremes just accepts payment in either inordinate amounts of Time.....or in cash.
-
I don't like Warframe, but I don't think it's pay 2 win. It is however, pay 2 skip.

12 RepliesEdited by BarretOblivion: 7/14/2018 8:03:44 AMNo, Warframe isn't pay to win, its more Pay to Skip an absurd amount of souless grinding in a game with 0 difficulty, challenge, or strategy involved. Use the "meta" game breaks. Its also predatory because it pushes new players to drop serious cash ($100) to catch up to their friends that are already playing the game. Its a less scummy practice but still a scummy practice. If Digital Extreme cared about its reputation it would be a Monthly Subscription based game. That is honorable and would push them to actually make meaningful content the game needs for longevity and diversity. The game is a casual's wet dream for junk food with no challenge and is a drug to make you believe you are good at a game when you are just good at farming. So yeah Warframe is really scummy just slightly less than your standard mobile game. Congratulations.

By the definition gamers use it's pay to win. It's the same system battlefront 2 was going to implement.

3 RepliesWarframe's micros trans system has been one of the better systems I've seen. I've never felt pressure to buy anything. I don't feel its P2W in the least. You can get anything in game by grinding. The only thing I could be sour on is that they charge for weapon and frame slots, and being a collector (or hoarder), that could get costly in the long run.

6 RepliesHow can anyone enjoy warframe, every mission is the same with constant flipping and sliding. A few of the enemy factions don’t feel like a challenge. And I still don’t see any story in this game…guess that’s why it’s free.

Warframe just call it pay to win and it bothers me a bit...
Literally stopped reading right there. For starters there are different definitions of pay to win from different groups to the point that I simply don't give a flying f*ck if you call a game pay to win or not, if I ask for it then tell me what I can get by paying real money. Using Warframe as an example I can buy Packs containing newly released characters and weapons. Special in-game currency which in turn allows me to buy characters and weapons thus skiping the grind for them, along with slots and special items. Cosmetics via packs and in-game currency.

6 RepliesI fail to see how it’s any different than the mobile game clash Royale. You can get everything for free, including the whole game but you can also buy stuff to skip the crazy long grind.

1 ReplyWarframe is pay2win fact

1 ReplyEdited by What I Look Like: 7/15/2018 6:06:39 AMI don't say it to bash the game, because it's fun enough.. but it is P2W. Complexities and alternate routes aside, it's P2W. If your argument against a game being P2W is offering what should normally be just playing the game as a separate route to paying for what you want.. its P2W. How is this even a debate lol? edit - normally playing Warframe involves grinding and some obnoxious build times.. at the game's core. The grinding is fun and the gameplay is complex, but deeeeeeeeeep down there really is only one truth
P2W
Edited by Guardian, Archon Of Light: 7/15/2018 1:53:34 AMWarframe is the most consumer freindly game on the market, that's why it has so much support They are a small company of 250 devs, but yet they put out AAA content on 3 platforms, and don't require you to spend a dime to experience any of that content Digital Extremes is what Bungie was 98-2007 , a group of dedicated talented gamers, working on a game they themselves like to play. When Bungie went with Activision , they were tempted by all the negative and toxic ways to milk a fanbase that they previously preached out against , and they bit hard. Like Marty O'Donnell said, if that corporate atmosphere replaces that free spirit free thinking atmosphere, then Bungie is no longer Bungie. And that has happened. Bungie is a corporate shell , and Digital Extremes is the Bungie Of Old And I would rather give Digital Extremes $500 for a skin or syndana, than give Bungie $80 for a year of half hearted boring content, because I know that DE works there ass off for there players and Bungie just wants to make a quick million dollars with the least effort possible

1 ReplyIs this because of my post?

1 ReplyIt's really only dumb people who can't figure out the game who call it P2W. So it's kind of an invalid argument seeing as their opinion is completely worthless.
-
2 RepliesYou guys do realize that the Warframe fanboys have stopped making posts and that your the one's keeping it alive?

Finally some sense. I have no problem with people not liking warframe but don’t lie about it’s F2P model.
