Maybe it's just me... but I am having a very difficult time using hand cannons at the moment,
I feel it's part to do with a couple of things.
1) I can't seem to see the reticule of the guns, seriously in the heat of the battle it's almost like my dot I'm using with to aim in ads just vanishes. For me the colours are not strong enough. Even sun shot I really have trouble aiming with that damn gun and half the time I feel like I'm firing where "I think the dot is here"
2nd.
The recoil animation on practically all the guns is far to much covering your screen. It literally blocks your line of sight and I can't see my aiming dot through all the animation.
I am sure... I never had this.much issue landing precision shots in destiny 1 as I do in d2.
Heck I have even looked at aim assist values and they are pretty much the same between d1 and 2.
Can I at least have an option to make the sights on hand cannons more solid... that would be a good start I feel.
How does everyone else do with hand cannons, are you experiencing similar issues?
**Edit my reticule spelling haha

3 RepliesIt’s the recoil patterns and bloom on top of that. If you shoot out of pace your shots have a RNG like function. And the hand cannons themselves aren’t very good against Auto rifles and Subs. Almost all gun fights against Autos/Subs you would need to speed up the shots your pulling with your hand cannon this bloom messes up the gun fight. Then along with the horrible recoil patterns. Don’t even get me started with flinch along the horrible recoil too. In the Crucible you’re not fighting guardians with Hand Cannons. You’re literally fighting your Hand Cannon.

2 RepliesTry doing some aim practice to build your muscle memory. Over time, you shouldn't be looking at your sights, only at the target that you're shooting at. It takes too much time to look back and forth between your sights and your target, so it's better to focus on what you're trying to hit. This applies in any FPS.

Just a very basic suggestion, but maybe try messing with your monitor color settings, as well as the in-game color settings to see if you can make it more visible.

Edited by MithBesler: 7/11/2018 3:49:43 PMI used a Hand Cannon all of D1, and same thing in D2 and honestly I don't think I even notice the reticle anymore. It feels more like Muscle Memory when I aim a Hand Cannon. There was some adjustment when D2 came out, mostly because Hand Cannon's handling dosen't feel as snappy as it did in D1. As for Recoil once again I think I am just used to it, almost like the recoil is a metronome. It's how I pace my shots and once you know how the gun will go back to zero center you are already adjusting your aim before hand. It's why in D1 I prefered the Eyasluna over the Palindrome. The Palindromes recoil was mostly up and down, while the Luna's was Up and to the Right. In D2 that is also why I don't like the Ikelos Hand Cannon, the recoil feels to much like a Side Arms.

1 ReplyEdited by Soul_Eater_42: 7/11/2018 2:37:02 PMI've pretty much gotten rid of all my handcannons. The recoil animation (and shape) make it impossible for me to use any of them except the Precision Frame ones. They are garbade compared to the Handcannons in D1. In D1, the only ones with bad recoil were the high impact ones. I'll just stick with sidearms until they finally fix handcannons.

3 RepliesThe recoil animation for West of Sunfall 7, Better Devils, Sunshot are just horrible. It's been asked about since found but nothing has been said by Bungie. Right now the only ones that feel the best are Crimson and Ikelos.

1 ReplyEdited by Demonic: 7/10/2018 12:38:56 PMMaybe I am on crack, but I find hand cannons easier to use in D2. I couldn’t hit the broad side of a barn in D1 with them. Exit: Because I cant spell barn..

2 RepliesYou’re not wrong here, man. On consoles the issue is exacerbated, the reticle gets lost in the background of the game because there’s so much washing it out. It’s definitely not as defined as it was in D1. I was having the same issue. The other issue you mentioned is true as well; the recoil animation causes the reticle to get lost in battle as well. I do hope that Bungie can recognize this and put in a fix.

2 RepliesReticle is the series of lines or fibers in the eyepiece of an optical device. You are talking about iron sites. Hand Cannons in Destiny have never used a reticle site.

4 RepliesI would love an option to be able to pick the colors of the weapon reticles.

West of Sunfall 7 had that problem before the bug that changed the animation. Its vertical recoil would look like my character arms were moving up and down, not the barrel of the gun. Personally I just try not to think about the ADS point and focus more on looking past my gun to the target. Kind of like driving a car - don't look at the two lines on either side of your car directly in front of you, look down the road to where you're going. It all depends on when you left D1. If it was during the Thorn/The Last Word meta, shooting a gun now will feel very squirrely. The bloom mechanic was added to un-meta handcannons. The best explanation I've heard of the logic behind that decision is that when you have 4 shots to take down an opponent vs 20 on an auto-rifle, the HC accomplishes the kill goal more efficiently. Shooting a moving target with an auto rifle will lower your chances of landing all head or body shots across the full magazine, a HC will have a higher reward if you land all 4 shots while someone is strafing or going into cover. Example: An enemy is running behind cover and will run out of cover during your engagement. While running to cover, you land 3/4 hand cannon shots to take down your opponent. The opponent exits the cover (no health regen) and you land the 4th to finish them. Auto Rifle scenario: ideally you would need to hand 15/20 shots to have the same equivalency, then 5 shots when the opponent exits cover. However you have more opportunities to miss and you only land 11/20 shots. now you have to do more work than the HC to finish your opponent when they exit cover. The bloom mechanic was there to make HC's less consistent. The faster you spam the trigger, the less accurate the gun becomes. This was like adding RNG to your shots so not all 4 will land every time with aim assist. Ghost bullets as they're called. The only HC that I've used in D2 that feels like a D1 HC is the IKELOS. I have a theory that they're piloting the fall meta based on data from that gun.

1 ReplyReticle disfunction? That sucks. All joking aside too bad you can't select the color you want. I would go for highlighter yellow when in range.

That's not how you spell it man

2 RepliesThey are completely fine. It’s user error.
