So Why Is The Korean Version of Destiny 2 Getting Dedicated Servers While We Are Not Anywhere Else?

There is absolutely NO excuse for this Bungie! People, you better speak up about this NOW! Why is the Korean Version of Destiny getting dedicated servers while we here in USA and Europe as well as everywhere else have to put up with all the cheaters, lag switchers and ddosers while you do nothing Bungie!? I saw this on the video intro of the Korean version of Destiny. I saw that and was like WHAT?? Gamers, post here and upvote if you want the dedicated servers here in the USA and Europe as well as everywhere else! Sorry, didn't mean to leave anyone out, it was just an oversight, it happens! We all know that! I'm only human, just like all of us! So, the posting has been updated a bit, as I accidentally forgot about our brothers out there and sisters too, if there any out there (I'm sure there are!) in other countries of the world! Thanks Stinkfinger for the post! A shout out to Stinkfinger! Here's the link Stinkfinger provided! https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/243043604?sort=0&page=0 I posted it up here so you don't have to look for it, if it doesn't work, let me know and/or just look for Stinkfinger's post to find the link! Checked the link, it works! This post is beginning to gain some traction, let's keep it up folks! Update/addition: Yeah, funny thing is, it's all the cheaters who come out of the woodwork to stop dedicated servers! Why? Because, then they'd have to play the game normally just like the rest of us or get banned for their attempts at cheating! I knew this was going to happen! The cheaters, or possible cheaters are going to cry the loudest! Why? Because, it's a direct attack on their cheating ways and they know it! This is why I am posting this thread, it's a direct attack against all the cheaters! Worse thing is, they can't handle it!

  • The Korean Version of D2 will be like most all games from that country will be full of Micro-Transactions, As for cheaters Bungie needs to step up, when playing the Crucible and now Gambit cheating is terrible! I have played against and been on the same team as players cheating. When players are 3 or 4 times faster than your Guardian you have little chance to compete, especially in Gambit. Some players are recording cheaters and then sending A copy to Bungie or post it on YouTube. Forsaken is awesome Bungie, please try to protect it from cheaters.

    • To summarize virtually everything everyone just said, Korea isn't the size of a nation, therefore servers are much simpler to maintain, allowing them to have better servers, whereas the US and other big countries have an entire continent to maintain, so the server situation is not as simple. If you have enough money to give dedicated servers to 50 states, then we can agree on something.

      • This again? Do your homework. Korea is not part of the Asian server system. They have their own server system there and other factors that make it so the game (all pc games) needs to be written for that country (laws & customs regulations) & dedicated servers is the only way servers are done there. It's a whole different internet there. Get over it.

        • Your definition of dedicated servers is a little off. They are dedicated in terms of not shared with D2, but not as far as game play. • They're not true dedicated servers, more like isolated servers.

Why is the Korean Version of Destiny getting dedicated servers...
You might want to discuss this with the South Korean government & not Bungie. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Internet_in_South_Korea South Korea is the world leader in Internet connectivity, having the world's fastest average internet connection speed. About 45 million people or 92.4% of the population are Internet users, thus shows how the nation has substantial relationship with their digital space. It has consistently ranked first worldwide in the UN ICT Development Index since it launched. https://www.10mag.com/illegal-in-korea/ Online Gaming (Cinderella Law) This is one of those conditionals, the conditions being that it takes place between the hours of 12 am and 6am and the gamer is under the age of 16. In a move that brought protests from a slew of development companies, the South Korean government passed the “Cinderella Law” preventing accounts for children under the age of 16 from connecting to Korean gaming servers. https://www.nbcnews.com/technology/south-korea-introduces-yet-another-law-curb-gamings-ills-158168 http://seoulbeats.com/2015/08/south-korean-internet-censorship-and-regulation/

              • The Korean version of Destiny 2 is basically a different game. It has to have it's own servers.

                • What's funny is that you don't know how to read at all. You connected two words and jumped into a frenzy due to your own ignorant and misunderstood idea of what those words mean in CONTEXT. They get dedicated Korean servers so you never have the chance of being placed in a Korean server and find it looking differently and probably crash your game. But no, no, no. You sit here and post idiotic and asinine opinions about something you have zero understanding of and then edit to make it look like it is cheaters who don't want dedicated servers. What?! What in God's holy name are you blathering about?! You make no sense and have zero concrete ideas or opinions. Stop screaming in text about things too complicated for your tiny IQ to comprehend.

                • 1) There are literally laws about internet connectivity in Korea. 2) They are one of the strictest users of internet and almost every single person there has a good connection speed. They take it very seriously. 3) It is a fixed, relatively small region, confined. 4) If there were dedicated servers for the global build, it would prevent people from playing with others on different regions because of the large ping from someone in the UK connecting to US East servers for example. 5) The Peer 2 Peer hybrid has its obvious flaws, we can see that from game to game, but thats not entirely due to the concept of p2p, they could very much improve it to a good state without dedicated servers, which allows us to continue playing with friends wherever they may be. 6) They cost a hell of a lot of money, they already have dedicated servers for storage, and all proccesses on Destiny, the api, everything is all on servers, every time we do somthing in-game we communicate with those servers, its only the actual connectivity that is peer2peer. While this is probably the part where people say "omg bungo is just greedy they have enough money they can do itttt" - yeah, probably, but its a company with investors and profit margins to meet, they wouldnt just do it willy nilly, besides often the cost of dedicated servers goes on the PUBLISHER, aka Activision as we see with pretty much every game (cod for example).

                  • Judging from what I've read so far, South Korea is not getting dedicated servers, they're getting separate servers. They're separating the servers because Destiny Guardians will have P2W microtransactions that will create a different economy and progression. That can't be mixed with D2's. Nothing indicates that Destiny Guardians will be running on a different setup than the hybrid p2p that Destiny 2 is running on, but just for South Korea players. I hear they have great internet over there. That, and the enforced proximity will mean that they will suffer a lot less from lag. But they won't get to play with players worldwide.

                  • From what I've read it looks like you're misunderstanding what's happening. It looks like Korea isn't getting dedicated servers as much as Bungie is dedicating some of their servers to Korea. They'll still be in the P2P "hybrid" system like we are, they are just going to be separated from the rest of the D2 population because their game is different from ours. It looks like they're going to be on a P2W type system where top level gear will be available to purchase from Eververse so separating the games makes sense really.
