Tether may be very powerful in mayhem but it is just plain boring. The entire purpose of mayhem is to just be crazy with supers, but constant tethers just makes it yet another boring game with very few supers. Same can be said for suppression grenades but i have only come across those once, but they to make for rather boring gameplay.

27 RepliesEdited by Sky: 7/10/2018 6:55:34 AMI run nightstalker, tractor cannon in mayhem. Its my mayhem, so it sucks to be you. At least IM having fun. I used to run bubble, suppressor grenades and the dark drinker in D1 mayhem. Now that was fun.

1 ReplyPeople who lack any skill use nightstalker.

Edited by DiZ: 7/11/2018 9:39:33 AMFor me, the title would be "... in general", not just in Mayhem. I don't find baiting with Smokes 24/7 and holding onto your Super to counter an enemy Super much fun at all. It's part of why I'm really bummed out about the Way of the Wraith essentially having Envenomed Smokes, and not the unspecified melee charge it had in the Gambit E3 build. It seemed like an armor debuff of sorts, as it made your next melee afterwards crit on the enemy you hit with the charge. Maybe that would've allowed for another way to 2-hit melee in Crucible. I would've even rathered having some kind of "poison blade" as a melee, inflicting DoT on a melee charge. Though maybe that'd be too strong with Gambler's Dodge giving you your melee back very frequently. But the tradeoff would be not having any form of extended melee distance, unlike Synthocepts, Ophidians, Knockout, and Deadly Reach.

1 ReplyI completely disagree, tether sniping is hilarious. Tether colony-ing, tether anything because they can't escape and no-one is smart enough to shoot the tether. Tether does need a couple buffs but it's my preferred way to mayhem.

1 ReplyEdited by Kell of Kellogs: 7/9/2018 11:13:51 PMI found the sentinel subclass to be more boring myself. At least with nightstalker I had other skills I could use such as invisible etc. The super itself isn’t made for kills like GG etc but it’s fun to me. Being able to keep your opponents from using their supers in Mayhem is a fun goal.

1 ReplyPeople don’t realise you can shoot the tether...

8 RepliesBungie put it in the game and left it in Mayhem so they must think its viable....and Nightstalker is boring to you to others its the most fun. Just play your way let others play their way and learn to beat them..I mean you can see the tethers just go another way ;)

1 ReplyI can totally get how playing as a stalker in mayhem would be fun - it's fun because you know you're effectively ruining the match for your opponents and you know it, lol. I played a few games earlier which were fun then one that had 3 stalkers on the other team that were just planting tethers everywhere - doorways, roofs, corners....Yes you can call it a valid strategy because the game mode lets you do it, but it's still boring. The reality is the game mode is anything but mayhem when you come up against several stalkers at once because you can't get off anywhere near the amount of supers as they can. Fun for one side, sucks for the other. Just luck as to which one you're on - unless you're purposely running hunter for this reason.

Lmatfo... Pfft mkay

2 RepliesGo gg for kills, don’t even bother with arc strider as you will barley get any kills. I used to foh but i can rarely get a kill when everyone is either gg, db, or hammer. And yes tether in Mayhem is boring as hell, maybe the new super in forsaken for void will be fun.

11 RepliesHunters are just a boring class for mayhem in general.
-
1 ReplyTry playing a team with teathers suppressor grenades and tractor cannons - if we aren't going to play mayhem n go crazy with our supers why even play? Might as well stick with quick play

I used to love mayhem in D1 with the artifact that removed your super but gave you 2 grenades and 2 melee charges. Play nightstalker, run Frosteez and its double wombo combo, everywhere, always. In D2, tether can be fun, but less so than other subclasses, in my opinion. Placing a single trap tether at a ledge where people frequently jump across an area can be hilarious, especially when a team all tries to push together, a couple activates supers, and then they get tethered and fall to death. But in the rare occasion that happens once in a match, the enemy catches on and they don't "fall" for it again. So after one match of that, it's old already.

9 RepliesAs with everything, learn to play around it. I played against stacked teams of 3 nightstalkers and either a golden gun, hammer titan or dawnblade warlock as the 4th. They just camp at a point tethering all possible entry routes. Do i cry? No, i think for a solution. And then i still win the match. You are the kind of person that when a Raid isnt going smooth, you cry and blame people and then leave.

15 Repliesno its not is great shutting down everyone supers knowing that they are absolutely raging that to me is the best fun this game has to offer

5 RepliesBy this logic, don't tractor cannons achieve the same effect? They're used just as much if not more than tethers, pretty much annihilate supers, and do the same as nightstalker. What gives it a pass in your eyes? Just because nightstalker is a class isn't valid, since your point is that they make the gameplay boring. With your point on how suppression grenades make boring gameplay, I'd disagree, the ability to counter a super without always having to press f makes for a pretty fun experience (I say this who has been on the receiving end of both tractor, suppressor and tether). As annoying as tethers can be, if the only counter to a super was another super, this would be pretty boring gameplay, no?

3 RepliesReally? Why are they the second highest in kd? https://guardian.gg/2/class-stats?platform=console&mode=5&start=2018-07-02&end=2018-07-09

17 RepliesNightstalker is definitely a problem in mayhem. It just ruins everyone's fun. I'm not calling for a nerf, but some adjustment to it specifically in mayhem might be nice.
-
11 RepliesDecisive play with it, on the other hand, is quite entertaining when you set people up to fail on their own or create area denial. It's nice for giving a sniper space.
-
That's why Nightstalkers should take a break from Trapper and run Pathfinder. Work on the aim a little rather than insulating yourself from Supers.

Nightstalker is the most boring class in mayhem
So what happens to you when you see a Tractor Cannon blow a Nightstalker off the map, mid super? Does your head explode?
-
5 RepliesI think mindlessly running around with Hammers with no concievable threat to an easy shut down is boring. Plus, shutting down other people's fun is always a fun activity.

3 RepliesI started using tether yesterday because it makes Jade Rabbit kills exponentially easier. Got 130+ kills in a few matches (don't remember how many - more than 12), because the tether has never one-hit-killed any of my opponents.

3 Repliesdawnblade hit the tether with 2 swords. bye, bye tether...hello asswhoppin! simple as that my man.
