When you complete the Nokris strike he doesn't die like the rest of the enemies in game. Instead he acts as if he is being taken. Nokris is a necromancer(resurrects the dead). The Skorn are resurrected Fallen.
Now it is a long running theory that Mara Sov is Savathun(I believe this to be the case myself). I also believe the Awoken are her version of the taken. To top this off The dreaming City(home/birth place of the Awoken) is full of taken enemies(that's not coincidence). I believe Savathun/Mara Sov took Nokris and had him resurrect the barons.
Just food for thought. if you disagree that's fine. It would be boring if everyone agreed anyway.

The Barons were never dead they were imprisoned, The Fanatic is the one that is resurrecting the Skorn. Also, if Mara Sov was Savathun, she would need to claim the power of the Taken before she could "take" anyone or anything. Also, how do you explain Earth born Awoken such as our Guardian or other Awoken like Zavala? Just because the Dreaming City is full of Taken doesn't mean that Mara Sov is Savathun and took Nokris. It could be that Savathun is assaulting the Dreaming City. Also, Nokris doesn't get taken or die he resurrects himself, which is thought of as heresy by the Hive and I doubt that he would team up with Savathun or Savathun would team up with Nokris. If Nokris was taken you would visually see it, he would be pulled away into a tiny ball which sucks him up. In the Strike he just sort of disappears/disintegrates. EDIT: Why would Savathun if she is Mara Sov and already has taken power have 2 separate "taken" forces"? Why would she aid the Guardians when they were weaker and more easily killable? Why would she be assaulting the Dreaming City if its already under her control?
