I'm just interested to see what this community can make of this, and I personally have high hopes for you all.
You know how interesting it is to read grimoire cards and learn lore about everything from Cayde-6 to The Red Death to Savathun to literally anything in the sol system. But what about our guardians? Bungie obviously can't dictate specific lore about us, but whose to say we can't write our own legends?
So, I implore you, write out lore-friendly stories about your guardian. Tell us how you got your name, where you fought enemies, your armor, your tactics, come up with your own short story to tell the world about who you are as a guardian. I'll even write one myself if this gets enough comments!

My hunter is an exo named Ultra-364 (his memory wasn’t really wiped 364 times, hunters like making stuff up) He is a Rogue bounty hunter with a Deadpool styled personality and sense of humor. Despite him mostly looking out for himself, the vanguard believes he is the guardian savior that saint 14 spoke of due to him killing ghaul, ponoptes, and Xol. He wields the crimson and the quickfang, and he will occasionally use the worldline zero when it’s power is needed. I haven’t come up with a good name for my titan, but he’s the last of the original sunbreaker order that was slaughtered by the red leigon during the red war. He comes pretty close to being as powerful as ultra, but not quite. He is calm and collected and takes his roll as a vanguard scout very seriously. The best way to explain the companionship between ultra and my titan is that it’s kind of a Kirby (ultra) and meta knight (my titan) sort of deal. My warlock (I haven’t come up with a good name for him either) is a higher up scientist that works for the remnants of the concordat that are slowly rising back into power. Being a selfish coward, he usually commands robots of his own design to do his dirty work, but ultra usually just uses the worldline zero to smash them to rubble. Now the last one is my destiny 1 hunter, D’yoval, the light’s bane. He was believed to be the savior guardian before ultra came along. He was part of the team that killed oryx in the kings fall raid. But after oryx was destroyed, he was manipulated by toland, the shattered into studying the darkness. He slowly became just as obsessed with the hive, if not more, than toland. He was eventually publicly humiliated, and then banished for attempting to assasinate the speaker. Being possibly even more corrupted then dredgen yor at this point, he claimed oryx’s dreadnaught as his own. Then, using the sheer power of his pure hatred and malice towards the ones who banished him, he forged the dreadfang, a sword of pure darkness. The dreadfang made him powerful enough to form his own brood of taken. Some time in between destiny 1 and 2, He tried to take over the last city, but failed. He was sealed away deep under the city to prevent him from causing any more destruction. He now lies in wait for someone to awaken him from his eternal slumber. My warlock wants to awaken him in order to make a deal with him to work with the concordat, giving them a huge advantage.

Name: Nervia Species: Human Age: couple centuries Story: Became “woke” in the cosmodrome out of a colony ship, and was given her first weapon: an unspecific Omolon scout rifle. After this she realized that she was going to be the first to fend off against SIVA. When the Iron Tomb was finally sealed, she was given orders to scout the Foundry by the Lord’s Watch. As she did a SIVA node from a deceased Splicer infected her armour, and also her ghost. Then herself. One thing out of the ordinary is this: the tech bonded with her and didn’t convert her into what the Iron Lords became. She was a bonded Guardian with ancient tech. Due to this, she was sent in to deal with the Aksis and his followers with a team of high-ranked Guardians. The first attempt left them dead and Ghost-less... all but Nervia. The Vanguard was worried and quarantined her for six months in [REDACTED] until she was confirmed “still of the Light” (by The Speaker, {REDACTED}). The second attempt was successful, as the SIVA armour and weaponry gave Nervia unique abilities against the Eliksni that inhabited what was later dubbed “Wrath of the Machine”, or “WotM” by many other Guardians. Soon the trend of creating SIVA armour with flashy effects came over the system, and she later became the “new foremother of fashion”, forcing Eva Levante to find new Guardians to give her items and crafts to. This led Nervia to guilt and to her disappearance until the Red War. That will be later told and after the next biggest threat has been conquered... Jeez my fingers hurt after typing this, -blam!-!

Edited by FiercestMocha46: 7/15/2018 7:15:15 AMI awoke in the cosmodrome and wondered how I got there and listened to the white drone which called itself a "ghost" and told me I was dead but now it brought me back, and now it's mine, and before I could ask who I am or where I am, it vanished but I could still hear it's voice in my head and thought it would be best to do what it said at least until I knew what was going on, the ghost told me to get inside the wall. Inside the wall I saw something climbing quickly up the pipes, the ghost told me to keep moving and turned on the lights and suddenly I could see hundreds of these creatures the ghost referred to as fallen. The ghost spotted a rifle, I picked it up and it felt familiar, why did I know how to use a rifle? Who was I? I kept moving forward, the ghost pointed out the trip mines and I thought that it was obvious that they were trip mines but considering that the ghost brought me back from the dead I figured I owed him so I decided that I wouldn't point out the obvious, I avoided the mines and fought through the four armed creatures known as the fallen, as we were approaching a hanger, I was caught in a barrage of blue energy (I would later know as arc) and everything went black and then it wasn't I saw the ghost floating over me and I realized that it could bring me back any time I died and I decided that I would experiment with it later, but I kept moving and there it was an old Arcadia class jumpship and for the first time since my resurrection I spoke "will it fly?" The ghost was confident that it would work. When we arrived at the city I went wandered around and the tower and I jumped off the building just out of curiosity I woke up on the tower and before I could jump again the tower PA announced "Guardians, having Ghost is no excuse for recreational Tower jumping." I immediately thought of him as a buzzkill. I went to meet the leaders of the guardians known as the vanguard as far as I could tell they didn't get out much which made the choice for the name strange because the vanguard was the advance force in the military but they were sent out ahead of the main force to engage the enemy first, but this vanguard seemed to stay back and give orders, I was told to meet a man named Cayde-6 some people told me he was a liar who owed them glimmer, others said he was a filthy cheat and told me never to gamble with him, I went to meet with him and said that I was told to meet him and he told me that I have a lot to learn about being a hunter the first thing he said is don't do everything I am told unless he tells me to. I wondered why he was in charge of the hunters, he didn't seem to take it very seriously but I liked him. After my ship had been serviced I went to find an NLS drive my Ghost figured the cosmodrome would be the best place to look and he was right but during the mission I found a place that felt strange like and but there was no time to focus on that I had to fight the the fallen for a warp drive there was a big one though but there is an old saying "the bigger they are the harder they fall, after the battle my Ghost told me I killed an archon after that things moved quickly, we did what we ordered to do until one day on the moon we received a message telling us to go to Venus after completing the mission we went to investigate, after battling machines known as the vex we encountered a strange exo who told us to seek the black garden and destroy its heart after our meeting "little light" and I went to speak with the awoken for key to the garden. Upon arriving in the reef I was greeted by two ships who were prepared to blow me out of the sky if I veered off course, the queens fallen surprised me but they seemed to harmless to me the awoken said I needed the head of a gate lord so I returned to Venus. After slaying the gate lord I returned to the awoken and they said that what needed wouldn't work so I went to mars to restore once it was restored I entered the black garden and destroyed its heart when I returned to the city I was given a heroes welcome, I met with the stranger one last time she gave me her weapon and told me there is worse things coming and vanished into thin air. The years ahead were full of danger the hive god crota tried to return but we stopped him, skolas was freed from the prison of elders but I returned him and then killed him, Crota's father tried to avenge his son and failed after I slew him I became the hero of the taken war, SIVA was stopped and the iron lords were avenged. The city was peaceful until Ghaul came to earth without the light we didn't stand a chance but the traveler gave me a vision showing me the way to restore my powers, after restoring the vanguard I fought Ghaul and the most amazing thing happened the traveler woke up and destroyed ghaul. I explored the infinite forest and saved Osiris. I saved Rasputin and killed a worm god as well as Nokris another one of Oryx's sons.

I haven't named my characters, but remember their histories

Destiny 1
My hunter was the first to awake, an exo male.. he was basically a more quiet cayde 6... his first exotic was hawkmoon from the prison of elders.. he fought across the solar system bringing light to the darkest places- and became the first legend.. though his reign only lasted the first 2 years of destiny (slowing to a fade after killing oryx) he still stuck around long enough to earn the "Sign of momentum" emblem and even later to become an iron lord. he still owns his first legendary set of gear, and that old hawkmoon. during year 2 of destiny, an awoken warlock awoke.. he showed promise & became the next trailblazer after my hunter started becoming inactive .. he never achived anything new or dazzling but took up a large timeslot as the top dog.....very, very late into year 2 ( and after massive content droughts) my warlock decided he would go off the grid- much like osiris did- in search of anything that could prove importance.. Shortly after this, a new awoken warlock came into the scene, she was the quiet and dangerous type- a perfect stormcaller at heart- she was the one who descovered the siva threat & the one who took action with lord saladin... she was beyond exceptional.... in the months after purging siva, she went on to a flawless victory in trials of osiris, something this part of the city had never seen a guardian do before.. and after that was when she really flew her true colors... the hunter during her trials had been busy proving himself an iron lord and after her victory, he was intrigued. she became a sortof protégé to the old legend, and he taught her many things- including how to race. where he furiously struggled to win first place ten times on two maps for his precious emblem the previous year, she single handedly redefinded the term "race" to her it meant something like the only place is first and i'm alone on this track.. while her story continues elseware, my old hunter had finally decided he'd done enough. the most beloved guardian retired after the dawning that year Somewhere between the siva crisis and the redwar, my warlock emerged back into the light; but something wasn't right... he was now a titan! he met my warlock in pvp and they got along well, they both practiced in pvp on and off until the red war struck
Destiny 2
My titan died defending the city during the red legions assault. My now grief stricken warlock was cast out into the wild to fend for herself.. after a few weeks of just wondering, she was tracked down by my retired hunter- her old mentor- they caught up, he knew about the city, and about hawthorns resistance: before they parted paths again he gave her a gift.. his void bow. she became a hunter, marking her new cloak and vowing to avenge her titan friend.. she found hawthorn- retook the city- and became one of (if not the) most dangerous hunters to ever live- she is currently the top dog in the city after all this, a titan was woken up. she was a human, a first for this part of the city. not much is known about her, just that she has become a very powerful guardian and that she made contact with osiris on mercury( the vanguard doesn't let much get out about that).. she mostly enjoys defending various planets from regular invasion parties, or fighting alongside her fireteam in crucible a short time after the titan awoke. a new guardian awoke. she's another warlock, and shares a lot of traits with the queen hunter back in her warlock days... except this ones personality is much more intense, to the point it can even be unsettling. she VERY quickly mastered each of her subclasses, and walks immortally outside of the city- draining the life from her enemies so fast that she can't be touched.. she also enjoys electrecuting other guardians in the crucible, and unsettling shaxx.. she, she, and she have become a tight circle of guardians- a nameless fireteam, standing by- ready to face any threat the galaxy can throw at them :)
i put a lot more effort into this than i thought i would.. i feel like i could make an actual short story of a few pages
Well if youre interested... I made my character very similar to myself. Everything i chose was because it reflected something about myself. Name: Shadow (she couldnt remember her real name from her first life so she chose this one) Class: Hunter (mostly black armor. I chose hunter cuz i am not very strong(titan) or smart(Warlock) so that left hunter XD i also love knives...so...) Race: Awoken (pale blue skin, orange eyes) Subclass: Arcstrider (i chose this cuz while i am a good shot, i wanted something more erratic and wild cuz i actually have a heart condition. For some reason i felt arcstrider really fit with that. Like uncontrollable bursts of energy.)

Considering my awoken character proclaimed to have never seen an Awoken before on his first trip to the Reef, I'm guessing at some early point in his story he was dropped on his head.

Name: Archer-22 Age at death: 22 (but these are Exo so who knows) Race: Exo Class: Hunter Subclass: Nightstalker Was a soldier for the MIDA ‘government’ on Mars. When Golden Age forces shut down the group he was taken back to Earth as a prisoner. He was held at the Cosmodrome until the Collapse when he escaped in the confusion. But his freedom was short lived as the Titanomachy soon killed him anyway. Archer’s first resurrection was shortly before the Red Legion attacked the City. He fought his way onto Ghaul’s command ship but was severely wounded when he caged the Traveller. After escaping the City and regaining his Light, he ran odd jobs for Hawthorne until intervening on Titan. It was here that he and Zavala learned of the Almighty and the duty of recollecting the Vanguard was entrusted to Archer. Hopping from planetoid to moon to planet, rescuing members of the Vanguard he ended up on the Almighty and destroyed it, shortly before returning to Earth. Upon Zavala, Cayde and Ikora’s failure to teleport to the Red Legion command ship, Archer came face to face with Ghaul once more. With Celestial Nighthawk and a precision damage buff to his Golden Gun, it only took him two shots to finish off Ghaul. It wasnt until after Ghaul’s defeat that Archer discovered the arrow that would lead him to Void Light, but once he learned the art of the Dusk Bow, he never went back. During the Infinite Forest crisis, he played a pivotal role in destroying Panoptes and ensuring Sol’s safety. However, whilst the City celebrated another victory, Archer used his new found knowledge of the Vex to simulate the events of D1. Unfortunately, he was not able to kill Atheon, Crota, Skolas, Oryx or Aksis as the Infinite Forest could not simulate other Guardians to aid him. But there were unforseen consequences. After destroying the SIVA replication chamber and exiting the Vex gate system, Archer found himself in a universe where he had been revived outside of the Cosmodrome and destroyed the Black Garden, etc. Luckily, he was able to utilise his experiance with Hive from the Crota and Oryx campaigns to kill Nokris and Xol. Archer is now preparing for whatever fights lie ahead.

Name:Wolflore Age:Who knows,I forgot Gender:Female Race:Awoken Class:Hunter, nightstalker Home:The City Origin:Cosmodrome Being resurrected in the cosmodrome, the hunter killed many a great threat, including Oryx,Crota,Skolas,SIVA and the heart of the black garden. She then became a bounty hunter.Soon after presumed dead after losing a fight with the leader of the cabal base of operations,Firebase Ouroboros. Then transported to the reef by the reefborne awoken, she learned the fighting techniques and ways of them.Eventually leaving the reef, the hunter came back to the city and took a job to defend it.Although having a duty, her wild spirit meant that she often went off on her own journeys, killing many fierce leaders.

Kinda hard to create any personal lore for our own Guardians when Bungie consistently does what it can to break any sense of immersion we might glean from these games. Did you grind your ass off for signature weapons and armor sets that were perfectly rolled and suited for your Guardians in D1? Sorry, none of those can come forward. Remember how your Guardian sounded during those early missions, trying to escape the Cosmodrome and later meeting the Queen of the Reef and all? Yeah, your Guardian is a mute now (except when he/she gets hurt cause they can still grunt and scream. Just not talk). Favorite exotics? Gone or severely changed. Mained Sunsinger/Defender/Arc Blade? Not any more you don't. Why? F*ck you, that's why. Oh, and my Guardians killed every single major threat/Hive God/Vex Nightmare/Cabal Leader the Vanguard ever put in front of us, and no one in the Tower seems to know who we are these days. At the very least I could tell you that my Warlock always supported FWC, my Titan always supported NM, and my Hunter always supported DO... Oh, wait... not anymore they don't. Thanks for that too, Bungie. So yeah... It's a neat idea but, in a game that actively works against you really owning and loving your characters, it's difficult to really invest the effort.

My guardian defeated all the evil gods bungie set before her. She became the next Speaker as no one else ever did anything. The last speaker didn’t speak for the Traveler either.

Well, I can only guess how cringe my mind can possibly make this, so I’m going to hide it behind a spoiler;
I wake floating on a ship near Sol. A white object, floating above me, melting. It disappears. I stand. I feel no pain from the unrelenting star, and a gain a sudden burst of energy, then it disappears, just like the little white robot. The broken ship drifts closer to Sol. No other option, I walk to the side and jump. I float and do nothing but float I am NOWHERE~ I wake. Surrounded by sand and water, I stand up, feeling no pain. I swim. I swim and do nothing but swim I am SINKING~ I wake a last time. People stare down at me. I stand and walk towards the radiant ball. I survive and do nothing but survive I am-
It's long, so...
Warlock Alina is an Awoken, though she doesn't remember how that came to be. She's pretty much seen everything. Aksor, Valus Ta'aurc, Omnigul, Atheon, Oryx, Sepiks, Aksis, literally everything. Branded as one of the Iron Ladies of a new generation, she has always valued what Skorri did in particular, her battle music inspiring her further. Furthermore, she loves to read over the texts and books that lie around the tower and Venus. It was not only a hobby, it was a way of living. In combat everything she saw could be enveloped by the Void, its dark reach consuming even the most corrupted Taken. But in the darkest of places, her Solar light would guide the way. A zealot of the Future War Cult, Alina understood that the only path against the Darkness would have to be to stand up and fight it. Every so often you could see her with the blue and yellow colors of the War Cult, but not always. Perhaps the most notable armor she wears appears stripped from the Hive Wizards themselves, her gaze and raiment as deadly as her magic. However, she was also known for the fact that she loved her spoils from the Vault of Glass, all of the weapons. Atheon's Epilogue continued in the Crucible. The Vision of Confluence guided her through countless trials. Fatebringer delivered itself upon the endless Darkness, and Praedyth's Timepiece skipped like a stone through other Guardians' heads. Dark-Drinker, forged by the infinite void, cut through many different enemies. That was all shattered with the Red War, when she had her first near-death experience. When she somehow survived the assault, it was there Alina discovered how unstable an anomaly she truly was. Her power was fluctuating, nearly unwieldable by a single being. She had to tame her light again before making further pursuits. Which she managed, although now she's not nearly as fond of the sun. Storm and shadow are what she learned to tame. Some could say that with the Red War she was a vampiress, pulling the life force out of enemies to fuel her own. Although most of the old archives were lost, she found even more to learn on Nessus. In the days before the return of Osiris and the call of Rasputin, she would learn what she could from Failsafe and the previous failed expedition, but most importantly, lessons about the past. That their mistakes have to stay there. Although she couldn't learn much from Osiris before his leave, she does spend some time with Brother Vance's disciples to discern over their works in the Lighthouse, in particular the prophecy verses. And from Ana, she went to find out just what those memory fragments hid. Surely the had to hide something of worth, right? Alina's new robes are quite different from those of the old days, but more flashy. Gifts from the Cabal Emperor Calus himself, whom she never thought she would be in some form of alliance with, lets her adorn her armor with white, gold, and purple, although is still a FWC zealot. She has a curiosity for VEIST's Auto Rifles, although she is quite partial to SUROS and their Scout Rifles. When she finally found another model of the SUROS Regime, she was more than willing to spin it up again and shred down targets.
The only lore I really gave my characters was that my Titan and Hunter are siblings. Eh, it's a start. :/

I was found under a pile of cars when the zombie hive hit. A little ball found me hundred of years later. He’s great at disappearing, finding my hover bike and never listening to me. Mainly because it couldn’t restore my vocal. Cheeky bugger. Wasn’t much for guns, but I got better because I always came back to life. I’ve gotten pretty good at killing the enemy, and I thought they were aliens. But the true enemy are mostly zoo animals. In this world, they are unstoppable and unpredictable.

3 RepliesWhen my ghost first awakened me I could only think one thought, a word, a name. This name demanded to be heard, felt, ANSWERED. Malcom. This was to be my name. I had been resurrected, a warlock, my ghost said. At the time I was as simple as a baby. Capable of following orders but not much else. When I reached the tower, I had time to think. Who am I? Who was I? The past was to painful to think about. The memories came in flashes, the pain, fire, screams, death and destruction. I could feel it throughout my robotic body. Easier to forget. I engrossed myself in my new life, became a warlock, rose to prominence on the frontlines, spearheading assaults on the black heart, the wolves, Crota, and oryx himself. They all fell against me. But through all of this destruction all I could think, was why? Why these enemies, why this cause, why us? These futile, breakable humans? I dove into my research. I was reprimanded by the vanguard but I wouldn’t stop. But eventually I pushed too deep. I suffered a break of DER. As far as I know I served during the SIVA crisis but I have no recollection. ( for real world purposes I was left out when D1 jumped to next gen consoles only, thought I might as well make it believable ) I can remember the red war. The bloody horrid battles. Though it was the first time in a while that I felt truly alive. One life left to live, and by now part of me hoped for the endless rest. But that was not my calling, I took myself out of battle and spent my time defending survivors, researching, learning. I became a strategist of sorts. Led the people from a distance to keep myself from making a “heroic sacrifice”. Now I only hope for the day this pain will end. When our wars will end, and guardians like me... can Rest In Peace.

Crusader-7 is a hard headed Titan who loves nothing but the smell of dead fallen and the dry ether in the air. Notably known for commanding the three strike teams that died at the hands of an awoken air-strike while hunting Veliniks the ravenous. He’s a dedicated member to the Nea Monarchy and is right-hand man to commander Zavala, only second to Deputy Sloane who they share a small rivalry. Crusader during the Taken war he helped the Regent Petra Venj managing the left overs of the incredibly small fleet. During the SIVA crisis he made his return to earth and went out to hunt a group of Devil Splicers north of the Old Russian Cosmodrome, lead by Kraksis the Reborn. When the red war occurred he fought in the streets holding off the red legion single handedly from a narrow street while civilians were evacuated. When he lost his light he made his way out of the city and stealing a red legion Thresher and landed on Titan regrouping with the Vanguard. He followed Zavala during his attack on the city and when it was taken back he began reconstructing the wall with his fellow titans, hunters, warlocks and citizens of the last city. Crusader-7 months after the red war gains knowledge of his mentor Saint-14’s demise and begins a journey through the forest too look upon him one final time. He returns to the city time being distorted in the forest he has been in there for months, he gets a long talking to by the vanguard and then sent back to the reef as an ambassador to once again look upon the crumbling regency.
