Locking exotic catalysts behind raids is a big mistake considering the raid community is a total minority anyway but carry on bungie if your goal is push away the majority then you are even more useless developers than I previously thought. You have enough competition with game releases coming the end of this year as it is can you really afford to push away your community even more? If you don't think the raid community is a minority then check participation for all platforms and compare with the rest of the community. The participation is even smaller now considering the playerbase has been dropping like flies during year 1.

My gut tells me that the main reason Forsaken won't really receive much fanfare is not because the content itself will be bad. But because we've been burned so much by D2 that many players just won't bother to buy it.

1 ReplyEdited by blade329: 7/3/2018 5:48:07 PMI think it's going to be lackluster as well, but not because of catalysts. Bungie (J Hamrick) recently stated that the thing they were most proud of in D2 was PvP balance. That says it all about how they view this game. I just dont see them backing away from this design philosophy. I think the loot and the guardians are still going to be weak. Why, because that's who Bungie is now. I hope I am wrong, but I don't think so.

If it flops its going to be for more than just that....

Wrong forum to post this bro.

3 RepliesIt will be a flop for those who have expectations of things they invented in their own minds.
-
So it’s gonna flop? And your only point is because a catalyst is unlocked through a raid? K.......
-
I honestly won't be that surprised if it flops, but I really hope it doesn't. I'm gonna buy Forsaken, so I can form my own opinion on it, though.

5 RepliesEdited by BarretOblivion: 7/3/2018 7:05:29 PMGosh I really, really hate people that try to pull the old "raid community is a minority". Dude the reasons why are: 1) No in game LFG 2) NO GOOD REWARDS The catalysts don't solve the crap rewards issue but they help. Now you are going to say "they shouldn't try to fix raids." Bleh. We have what? 30% of the playerbase that have done raids? That is HUGE when compared to MMOs that usually have only about 15% of the playerbase doing those raids. So be quite if you don't know what you are talking about.

It will probably flop because of the steep entry fee if nothing else. I’ll still get it because I’m a Guardian for life at this point. But my entire clan has quit and I just can’t recommend anyone to buy it in good conscience after the way I’v seen Bungie handle D2.
-
2 RepliesForsaken is totally gonna flop. Just like how the Division was going to be a Destiny killer, or how No Man's Sky was going to kill it, Evolve was going to kill it, Division 2 will kill it, Anthem will kill it... Do you see where I'm going with this

Shut up Meg.

8 Repliesevery other week the RAIDS will change. the raid layouts and landscape etc .....Forsaken is everything we all wanted. D1 on MEGA Steroids
-
Notoriously difficult game engine. Worst of both worlds P2P hybrid. Infamous behind the scenes dithering. But no... it's gonna be the catalysts that cause Forsaken to flop. I guffaw in your general direction.
-
18 RepliesWait... so people complained that the raid didn’t have worthwhile rewards to grind for. Now Bungie updates the raid in Forsaken to drop rewards people want and they shouldn’t do it? Wtf. This community can be real jackasses.

For the title: 😂😂😂 For your reasoning: 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

1 ReplyExcept the raid catalysts are not part of forsaken. They are part of warmind DLC.
-
11 RepliesZzzzzzz you are boring mate. Just leave no one cares what you think.

I don’t know about flop, but I betting that it won’t be half as revolutionary as most of the community thinks it will be. The Taken King completely re-invented Destiny 1 from the ground up and fixed most of if not all of D1’s faults. A lot of people are expecting Forsaken to do the same for Destiny 2. However, aside from a few things here and there ( weapon slot changes, collections, random rolls ), I haven’t really seen much evidence from Bungie that they’ve learnt from the mistakes that they made in Destiny 2.
-
While I think it is dumb to put a non raid acquired weapons catalyst behind the raid, I doubt it's going to drive much of anyone away. And nothing being released is direct competition to Destiny, since there are no FPS games like Destiny being released that I've seen.

2 Repliesmakes a post gets flamed for something not even about the post salty people on bungies forums in a nutshell.

Forsaken flopping has nothing to do with prestige catalysts since those come out in the summer BEFORE forsaken and there is no additional purchase to get access to them. Forsaken will flop if it's content is as fascinating as watching grass grow or paint dry. Given the "content" we have been given in the past year, the community is becoming less and less enthused to give them a break.
-
If it flops its going to because too many people left already and nobody trusts Bungie anymore.
-
So the whole DLC is going flop because of an Exotic catalyst?
-
Edited by Swizzle: 7/3/2018 5:09:25 PMI honestly can only hear a bunch of whining. Tons of stuff was locked behind raids in D1, some of the best gear in the game was behind the raid wall. And miraculously the game thrived. Weird that it’s probably not gonna work again.... If your that concerned about it, don’t buy it and move on to something else. Just gracefully bow out and save us from your complaints

So putting the endgame content in a multiplayer game behind engage activities centered around multiplayer teams is gonna make the DLC to this multiplayer game flop? You guys do realize basically every trailer for D2 (or D1, for that matter) is pretty much always a fire team off doing epic stuff? It's rarely just one dude unless it's a campaign teaser, even then there's fireteams. Destiny has always been about teaming up with buddies and doing awesome stuff. If you don't have a clan or don't like talking, that's not Bungie's fault and they don't need to "fix" the multiplayer centric game to work better for y'all.

How is the placing catalysts in some activities any different than placing certain weapons and items like calcified fragments in raids and other activities any different? Most remember having to do TTK raid challenges just to collect calcified fragments. The endgame was the touch of malice. Many remember having to do a bunch of stuff besides the rise of iron raid just to get the outbreak prime. The OP doesn’t know $hit, many look forward to it as it seems this game is not marketed for the casual gamer but more for the hardcore enthusiast.
