Random Rolls are stupid and I hate that they are coming back!!!!

Ok here is my argument the reason people are saying that they want random rolls back in destiny is because it gives you something to grind for and I can not argue with that. However there are other ways to do that. Anyone play d1 and dismantle their fatebringer because that gun didn't have random rolls? anyone grind to get that gun? anyone get excited when they got that gun? Some of the best guns in the game where like that, vision of cornflakes, black hammer, hungry of crota just to name a few. Yes they were raid weapons but my point is there was a grind and satisfaction when you got them and the best part was you had the gun you wanted when you got it. You didn't have to scrap the first 15 of them you got because they were not the right roll. I would much rather the grind be in the drop and when I finally get the gun I want to drop it be the gun I want. That is the grind not rng crap that makes some drops great and others trash that is just stupid!! ....my two cents

  • None of those bomb raid weapons from D1 were really used in Crucible though

      No, I never dismantled my Fatebringer because I never got one in Year 1....because the drop rate was so low. ...and no one told you had to "scrap 15" versions of a weapon because it didn't have the ONE combination of perks you wanted. That was your CHOICE. What random rolls does is it DEEPENS and BROADENS the lootpool. It deepens the pool by making more items---perk combinations---available. But it broadens it by increasing the usability of the weapon archtypes in the game, and allows the loot system to be more generous. Otherwise you have to do what Bungie did in vanilla D1 with raid weapons....and is doing in Destiny 2 now with exotic MW catalysts and NF specific weapons: Making drop rates so obnoxiously low, that most people either feel that their time isn't being respected (Because most of the time you get nothing).....or people lose interest in the itme and quit. Loot-based games are a delicate balance. The item has to be compelling enough and far enough away....to make the chase after it interesting. But the item also has to be close enough so that people feel that catching it is POSSIBLE...and worth the effort. ...and right now NOTHING in this game (imo) is worth running 50 and 60 NF strikes in order to get to drop. N-O-T-H-I-N-G. Whereas random rolls allow the loot system to let the drops be more frequent...while keep the ideal rolls somewhat rare. Thus letting each player determine their own level of engagement. I can get a "good version" of an item in few runs...and be content with it. Whereas the guy who's willing to run it 50 or 60 times....can get that perfect version. Plus the player gets to decide what their "perfect roll" is....rather than someone else deciding for them.

      • You know the old saying, "be careful what you wish for"? It's going to be very applicable once players start grinding for a perfect roll and not getting it after the 50th attempt.

        I feel like they should reroll a perk ON TOP of the static roll. I.e: kill clip then an extra slot that has opening shot, triple tap, danger close, etc. Your gun is customizable and the grind should be in doing certain things for the gunsmith to earn some other crap to put on your already sweetass weapon that you already pimped out with that good ass shader and good masterwork. This would teach people to find the PERFECT COMBINATION FOR THAT WEAPON instead of just another meta roll that everyone is gonna use. Thus continuing the lack of variety in the game. But you know. Noone likes variety as much as they claim they do. Look at the crucible. Itll tell you the truth

      • I’m thinking you do not know how the new weapons will work as Bungie have stated you can keep as is, or change it, which means they’re generic and you can roll a different version with mods or quests I presume? If you like a sandwich like most people, you will see the ingredients are different no matter how slight per individual, from seasoning to the dressing and whether it’s cheese, ham or both it’s down to preference! I’m thinking I’ll like the new system as it caters to everyone! 👍🏻

      • If random rolls return then we shouldn't have to grind for the same weapon millions of times till we get the right one. There should be a way to reroll without taking away the grind.
