Cade's replacement WILL be an SJW
Don't you just know it. It will be some form or another of an SJW character. We already have 2 gay characters (Devrim and Ana Bray), we have Sloan, the hideous she-man on Titan (the only thing she's missing is a wad of chaw in her cheek to portray how tough and redneck-manly she is). I wonder what other form of "inclusion" and "representation" Bungle will go with for their next NPCs.

8 RepliesLet's look at the treatment Bungie gives to some of the newer male characters in Destiny. Beginning with the CoO DLC, Vance was rewritten as being childishly obsessed with Osiris to the point of being unbearable. When Vance was introduced in the Reef back in HoW, he was a different character than he is now. They changed him into a grovelling obsessed fan boy. He sounds like he literally has no balls. Next... Ashir Mir. Does ANYONE like that character? I think it just goes to the larger issue of writing and storytelling. There's a whole universe of interesting lore and deep history that can be explored and portrayed. But it is occluded by annoying cringey characters, bad writing, and "SJW sprinklage", in my opinion.

4 RepliesThough the reactions to this post are a bit heavy handed I tend to disagree with a few of you points listed above. 1 Slone being a Social Justice warrior just because shes "tough" doesn't really fit the bill. Maybe if she had pink hair and scrame at the sky everytime a new vanguard was elected. But she's just a tough chick in a space warrior god like guardian story. 2 -Devrim being gay wasn't a focal point of any story, a side line in a sea of other story elements doesn't seem like forcing something down anyone's throat. 3-The warmind comic I will agree was cringe worthy, but all of those comics are bad, this one just happened to be bad as it became a sexual identity story instead of a lore story. That being said I cannot with say with certainty that this was done purposefully to virtue signal. It could have been a genuine story development that was separate from todays politically charged rhetoric. I do see that a argument could be made here that it is virtue signaling but nothing in the game itself seems to do that. 4-The opposite side could say the vanguard are Trump supporters because they want a wall...just saying we can all see real world connections in the games we play but they may not always be intentional.

Destinies characters have a problem of. . . .MOSTLY ALL OF THEM ARE USELESS!!!! Don't get me wrong a handful of them actually do something, like Mara Sov taking on Oryx and his fleet, Eris taking the fight to the Hive and only have one life to live (and I have a thing for goth girls not the emo posers lol). Cayde for wanting to kill Gary after the tower got messed up, but Zavala, is useless he made a few bubbles during the attack then went off to Titan and cried an ocean of tears. Ikora went to look for space Jesus on Io, Shaxx stole my damn Raze Lighter, Sloan what the hell is she doing there I mean seriously she just stands there while hive and fallen are on the floor below killing each other. Osiris is incompetent beyond belief you really get an understanding of it when you do a strike and he talks about how he messed up but hey don't worry "the guardian" will clean my mess up! I mean seriously and also that sniper dude in the church tower Devrim Dumb Dumb face, who just talks about sniping and sipping tea while doing nothing as Fallen and Cabal litter the courtyard in front the church like Juggalos at an ICP concert. . .and he does nothing seriously. We should have the option to just beat him up and take back no land beyond, cause lord know he is not using it. And finally Hawthorne I just want to push her of the tower her and her stupid 1980's poncho! How in the hell did she survive in the wilds wearing that damn thing that has "im hiding here shoot me" written all over it like a Vegas neon light sign but she's protected by plot armor kinda like Rey in the new Star Wars. Bungie made great characters in Halo with depth, and now its just pandering nonsense. I'll probably get shit but if you want a "strong woman" character there are lots of them out there to follow like Ellen Ripley, Mara Jade, Tiny Tina, and Judge Anderson. But as for Ana Bray I'm haven't made an opinion of her yet I still don't know much about her character besides throwing Mars tokens at her every now and then, but hey Bungie "we got this", then again Bungie clearly doesn't know how to make meaningful characters, a story or other things. A characters sexuality should never really be a thing who cares if they like the same sex or the other, the main thing is do they bring anything to the story or to the game itself, no they don't. . . .end of rant. . .The Emperor Protects!

Sigh. If they chose anyone, I'd pick Shiro or Efrideet. I guess. Just wish everyone, including bungie, would stop worrying about what color people are, or what genitals they have, or who they bang. Not like it's gonna make a difference anyhow. They all just stand there. That's about as much as any of them do.
