Both with and without friends, playing offline is so much better. Co-op splitscreen is king.

Only if your friends actually live close by. Unfortunately sometimes people have to move, and splitscreen doesnt work very well when you are far away.
-
Doesnt change the fact that its better...
-
Actually it very much does, if your friends arent close by offline splitscreen is rather worthless.
-
But whether or not they are there in this given moment, splitscreen is still better overall.

Edited by Nickel7Dime: 6/29/2018 8:58:15 PMHow is that exactly. I mean it can also easily be argued that each person having their own screen is better in every way. It requires a lot less processing power, it doesnt limit each person to having some oddly shaped view, etc. Splitscreen just makes it so that you dont have to have two systems and two TV, however it does require you to both be in the same room, which depending on how far apart you are is significantly more expensive to do than getting a second TV and system, which you both likely already have. Splitscreen can be nice, but as you get older, online is a necessity if you wish to continue playing with your long time friends. Plus it is far more convenient. There is a reason that not having online is frowned upon and leads to less sales.

What I'm saying is that regardless of necessity, having your friends all in one room splitscreen is far better than online.

Not even close. Having all your friends in one room, each on their own systems, is far better in every possible way. Split screen has zero advantages to this othee than not everyone needing a system, however it is more than likely that every already has a system of their own. In contrast you get rid of major disadvantages such as having your screen chopped up. Everyone on their own system will always be the superior way of playing together. It can be done in the same room, and also maintains the utility of not having to be in the same room. There is a clear reason companies have moved away from split screen, and while it can be nice to have for some games, the vast majority dont need it. The ability to play online however is something that every multiplayer/co-op game really does need to have.

Splitscreen is more fun than even own system/same room.

In what way? Name a single advantage split screen has over everyone being on their own console in the same room, other than not needing multiple console and screens (which again most people already have, and in this day and age, they are not very hard to move). You cant even say being able to look at what the other people are doing because you can do that if everyone is in the same room.
