(TL/DR AT BOTTOM - if you like to read how I reached the conclusion read up) So in anticipation of this sweet handcannon coming back as this week’s Night Fall (NF) (exclusive to Tree of Probabilities) I took 3 days off work. So like everyone on LFG I rushed to complete as many as I could using the Easy run strategy of (Void Singe + Heavyweight). After 20 runs and no one getting it I went to reddit out of desperation. People said it’s a low drop but drops from NF Prestige and Normal mode “highscore has no effect”. So I started running normal mode another 20 or so Normal NF and no drop for any of my fireteam. I decided to just run it and get the Prestige aura since it’s permanent. So I ran it with my mates on 3x and gradually rising it to 4x. On our 2nd HighScore run (105k) the sweet thing dropped for my mate. Of course he was about to shard it for masterwork core and I violently stopped him using every curse word possible. This downed on me that higher score means better drops. Then I got on the Companion app’s LFG section and there is this Angel seeking 385 Guardians for Highscore to farm DFA and he linked patch 1.1.4 Update TWAB where Bungie clearly states the score increases the drop rate of NF exclusive gear. Hats off to you good sir I owe you big time and I don’t remember your name but thank you whoever you are. So I started running HighScores exclusively out of my 30 or so Highscore runs I’ve seen it dropped 12 times. Not joking 12 times and the 12th one was my one. The longest it took to drop one was 7 runs and then we had a 2 back to back drops on my other sessions. Then one session I had 1 dropped on the 3rd run and another dropped right after that. All these runs were 120k+ score (ranged from 120-140k). The gun always drops for 1 fireteam member and I haven’t seen it drop for 2 people but again I may wrong on this one. Here is my setup on FIVE OF SWORD card: Void Singe + Matchgame + Extinguish + Famine Level Handicap 26 SCORE MULTIPLIER 4x This will get you to the 110 threshold easily You can run with any characters but Arcstrider Hunters, Void Warlocks and Fire or Arc titans are better. You want Arc subclasses clear rooms especially when Harpies pop up. Voidwarlocks and Sunbreaker Titans should coordinate to apply Tractor buff and Melting point together to melt the boss asap or as much as possible. Kill everything and everyone on your way to the boss. The runs should take anywhere from 13 -16 min for that 110K+ score. Here some extra tips: -> Not everyone in the Party needs to have Five of sword the game takes into account the party Leader’s set up for the run. -> those that aren’t running Tractor canon (for nova/Shotgun damage) should run Hardlight for energy slot to be able to effectively drop all the shields. -> run scout rifles for long range engagements and communicate with each other -> normal/prestige runs takes usually 7-10 min these high score runs takes couple more minutes but definitely worth doing. That is my opinion but others might have other beliefs. -> I highly recommend you and your fireteam to be light level 380+, 375 is ok but you’ll be pushing it. People will tell you they got theirs from Normal NF or prestige quick runs. I have a friend who run it 87 times and not a single drop on easy mode. He ran it with me on highscore and he got it on the 2nd try. He was one of those advocating “score has no influence”. So from one who is cursed with RNGesus to another fella with the same curse avoid running easy mode and challenge yourself to get that high score and get that sweet handcanon. TLDR: D.F.A is dropping frequently if you run the Prestige Nightfall to get 110k score and above. Don’t waste your time doing normal NF unless you cannot run highscore prestige NF.
