Why kill Cayde? (The only likeable vanguard)
Cayde is pretty much the only likeable character in the destiny universe. Why kill him? Now we’re just left with the hunters not having a proper vendor and Ikora and Zafala cracking up 0 jokes.

1 ReplyI truly hope they have plans to reboot Cayde-8, I don't believe for a minute that Nathan Fillon would argue about money with Bungie he has always been a huge supporter of Bungie from the moment he started working with them halo, destiny and a few others. In one of his interviews he mentioned that he plays the game himself, loves the Cayde character and portraying the character. So at some point there's got to be a reboot maybe his personality might change a little bit but I can't see Nathan not doing it and Bungie would be remiss not to go after a Cayde reboot as the reward for getting through Uldrin. You then have to get past Uldrin to be able to get the equment needed to reboot Cayde and that's what should be DRIVING everybody that loves the Cade character if they have a REASON to fight for it they will continue to play.

Just wanna say that my point is that the one and only likeable character is gone. They could’ve left us with at least one other. I mean just one more couldn’t hurt.

We wanted a story that is worthy of its teen/16+ rating, now we do, I'm gonna hate sending off the best character in the game, but not gonna lie, never been so filled with emotion since the end of Red Dead redemption.

9 RepliesI don’t mind that they kill off cayde, what pisses me off is the fact that they spoiled it in order to try an get people to preorder. It would’ve been great to find out while I was playing, it might’ve actually got people to care about the story for a change but they just had to spoil it cause they’re afraid not as many people will preorder based of the fact that the last 2 dlc’s were complete garbage. By the time the dlc actually drops cayde dying will mean nothing.

3 Replies1. It's shock value. Killing Zavala, or Ikora wouldn't bring players back. They are both boring, and dull. Killing Cayde-6 (the one character in the game that has some semblance of a personality) will shock players, and bring players back to "avenge" him. Bungie is killing Cayde because he is the one character they can kill to actually make people give a damn. 2. It's good for budget. Nathan Fillion has shit to do, and they most likely pay him a good amount of money to voice stuff in this game. So, a good solution is to use his death as bait to buy the expansion, and then they no longer have to pay him for voice acting. This increases gross profit and decreases gross cost. I just wish Bungie would make some god damn like-able characters other than Shaxx and Cayde. Newsflash Bungie! It's possible to make like-able SERIOUS characters! Not everyone has to be over the -blam!-ing top about everything in order for them to be like-able. Make some of the characters relatable, make it seem like they actually do something, or exist for a reason.

Shock value. Nothing more, throughout destinys life cycle cayde has been the focal point for peoples enjoyment, hes always making jokes, hes also causing trouble, etc. Its to try to interest people, frankly no one really gives a damn about whiney ikora and hurdur i built city wall zavala.

1 ReplyWhat’s sucks is had the game been doing well from launch, in general, I don’t think they would’ve killed him. This is a big swing, last ditch, sort of effort to pull people back. Not saying it’s not gonna work, but that’s why it’s in the trailer and not left, unfortunately, for the people to see in game.

To get you to buy the garbage dlc!? How can you guys not see it? Everything they do is to maximize profits. The story will be like 5 missions and like 15 worth of cutscenes... but it's geared to make you buy it. The story will fall flat and have nothi ng to it. We'll save Cause somehow or it'll all have been a dream. It's bungie...it'll be garbage "Zomgwtfbbq ....WE MUST AVENGE CAYDE!!!1"

2 RepliesInstead of all the 'I love cayde' 'I hate cayde' BS, have a legit answer... Nathan Fillion is a busy guy, he probably doesn't have the time to spare to keep voicing cayde and, Bungie probably won't cough up the cash to try and keep him around. The easiest thing to do is to kill him off. To be fair, it's working out well for them too. It's quite a good PR stunt, they are saving money, people are pre ordering the dlc and at the same time they actually have people talking/debating about destiny and what might happen. For the first time in a long while the publicity surrounding destiny isn't all negative.
