Why bother when ammo drops so often? When there's yellow-bar enemies, there's going to be a LOT of heavy ammo dropping, and you don't need to wait 10 minutes to refill it, either. As for those boss situations where there is no heavy ammo available, just throw everything you have at the boss and it'll die eventually.

Some strikes are super terrible at heavy drops. Especially prior to a boss fight.

Why bother? Because it's just one more small detail to the game that could make it better. Who knows what we could use them for. I'm sure people would start figuring that out. Plus, it's something Xur could sell and I miss the amount of options we had in D1. Remember when Xur had a full inventory, filled with all sorts of baubles? I'd like that back.
