Instead of writing my own opinion, I thought it would be better to send feedback that better reflects what the community wants. For those that aren't sure, the strike catalysts are: Coldheart, Prometheus Lens, Riskrunner, Merciless and the Wardcliff Coil.

Edit: Thanks for voting! I know 300 responses isn't definitive, but from what I've seen in the forums, at reddit, my clan and my own experience, the voting agrees with the overall opinion that the drop rate is too low and feels almost non-existent. Personally, I thought that we'd see roughly two or three of them by the time we ranked 50 with Zavala. By comparison I have all two crucible catalysts after just over one valor flip and IB rank 50, all of the generic ones, the Huckleberry and Skyburner's. Why is the strike drop rate so much worse?

I think Bungie added the catalysts to make everyone shut up about how there are no meaningful rewards from most activities. So, they made the drop rate so horrendously low so players wouldn’t complain until they obtained them all. But as someone with a history of terrible RNG, I can say that it really sucks to farm. Back in Rise of Iron it took all my friends like 2-3 weeks to get the Thorn bounty. It took me 3/4 months of doing the bounties on each character, each week. They buffed it, sure, but I’ve done my fair share of strikes since then and still haven’t seen any. It is a reason to farm/grind/play certain activities, but it’s honestly lazy.

Edited by The Redacted Pope Salty I: 6/29/2018 4:43:00 PMI got the Crimson, D.A.R.C.I., and Tractor Cannon catalysts within the first week or two. However, I have yet to see a single strike or Crucible one. Not one. And to give you an idea of how much grinding I've done: I do not know if there is a way to check, say, the number of strikes completed since Warmind dropped, I can tell you that I have completed a total of 687 strikes and 207 nightfalls in Destiny 2, so, yeah. I've put my time in. And yet, not a single strike-based catalyst. So, do I feel the drop rate is too low? Yeah, maybe just a little bit. It doesn't help when I see fireteam members get the Huckleberry catalyst on their first try - something else I've grinded for and not gotten. At this point, it's hard not to feel like there is something going on specifically with my account. I grinded the Underbelly for nearly 4 hours last week trying to get the sword catalyst. Nothing. I've run several hours of strikes and countless Crucible matches. I'm near my second Valor flip, and am over rank 200 in IB. Again, nothing. Nothing except the "just kill stuff" drops which, again, all fell within the first week or so. What gives?

I got colony and jade rabbit from crucible, risk runner and coldheart from strikes so far. Been grinding like crazy.

I am all about grinding being 7 or 8th most played hours on D2, but I haveonly gotten the Risk Runner catalyst, and have done at least 100 strikes since I got that one. But hey I’m not complaining, I just would like to get another one..... sometime this year lol🙌🏿🙌🏿✌🏿👍🏿 Happy Hunting

After running most likely close to 200 + heroic strikes, NFs or Prestige NFs (have not kept count) other than the 83 I've run this week. I can say that that drop rate is abysmal. Have not seen any drop for the people I've run with either. More a waste of time than RNG. I'm going back to Milestones, NFs and Prestige once on each character per week. Would score a free hooker easier than these Catalysts.

i have spent over 100 hours doing strikes and have got 0 catalysts. This is a terrible reward for all the time i have invested/wasted

How can you evaluate something that doesnt exists? 100% sure they will either tell us after some time that those catalysts never really dropping or they magically start dropping after some pretend update. It all depends how long they dare to milk out of this "content". And I guess that people without any decency can milk it a long, long time.

2 RepliesGot Crimson my first try this morning. Got to have one of the exotics you want a catalyst for equipped while running strikes......I think.

If I gave a crap about those weapons I would say the drop rate is low. Haven’t seen a single strike catalyst for me or my clan mates but we haven’t been grinding for them since we rarely use those weapons (except coil maybe).
-
What my guess is that all of the catalysts have the same drop rate, being the same rate as the ones you get from killing any enemy. If that's the case, then it's an obvious oversight on Bungie's part and would explain why the drops are ridiculously low.

Edited by monkeydancer: 6/16/2018 12:07:34 AMI haven’t found any strike or crucible catalysts yet or seen any drop BUT they are mostly mediocre shite anyway so I’m not that bothered.

Not worth grinding heroic strikes for when the strikes also have no other worthwhile rewards to chase.
-
I never even see them drop for other people.
