Why do people care so much about Cayde-6?
I don't know if i have missed some kind of game changing mechanic that will now disappear since Cayde-6 is dead in Forsaken? Or are people upset about this only because of the lore around Cayde-6 being a fun character? If the latter - i'm quite surprised since this toxic community only seem to care about (flawed) game mechanics.
Tbh i couldn't care less about any of the characters in this game. The story and the lore is crap.
But if Cayde-6:s death means some sort of ramification to the gameplay please let me know.

Idk I thought this site hated him at launch and said he was proof Bungie was pandering to kids with stupid jokes and nonsense. Now everyone loves him? Like OP said you could kill every character in the game and I probably wouldn’t notice

Because he’s the only character that bring life to this damn forsaken game. Zavala and Ikora are as fun as getting my chest waxed. You may have also noticed that our character (the main hero) is a damn mute. So yes, he is important.

I don't know if they have received any yet (over the death of Cayde), but I could imagine real life, viable death threats from some people once they realize Cayde actually is dead and not coming back to the game. Some people have more emotional involvement invested in this video game than they should.

Because Nathan Fillion is probably the only funny and interesting voice actor in Destiny 2. I do enjoy when Cayde and Ikora go back and forth though because it reminds me of watching Firefly....... I can also never watch Farscape again because all I’ll ever hear is Tess harking me about silver

Theres also the fact that hes probabaly one of the few characters who we interact with and actually know who and how they got to where they are. People care about cade because of all of the things ive said above, theres also the fact that hes just funny and if he dies the the funny in the rest of the universe dies with him.
