The silent guardian would be fine if there weren't questions directed at us that require a response. The cringe when zavalla asks "What do you say gaurdian?" and you just look at your ghost like "holy shit, he can see me?" was a perfect example of bad writing for a silent protagonist. If zavalla had simply said "Are you in gaurdian?" then a nod would have been a suitable response. Bungie needs to work on the dialogue a lot.

It was scenes like that that made me think our guardians were originally meant to have dialogue, but everything got cut last minute... again.

A silent main character can work if it's done well. Don't ask me a question in first person view then switch to third person extreme close up of my face just to have silence or my ghost speak.
