The 3rd content release for the Annual Pass is titled Penumbra. We know literally nothing else about it. What interests me though is the name "Penumbra" itself.
Google defines it as such:
The partially shaded outer region of the shadow cast by an opaque object.
Pertaining to astronomy, google says this about it:
The shadow cast by the earth or moon over an area experiencing a partial eclipse.
And
The less dark outer part of a sunspot, surrounding the dark core.
The common thing to note between all three of these definitions is the prominence of shadow, darker regions. Will this update appertain to something darker than we're used to? Maybe the return of the Taken and the emergence of Savathun? I assumed she would have a September release, but who knows.

Edited by Irrelevant: 3/24/2019 5:51:03 PMSince we know the raid takes place on the Leviathan and Zenith of Your Kind (Leviathan Raid Weapon) says "Earth has no shadow, not yet" can be referring to the shadow thing.

5 RepliesI do not believe it to be Savathûn. I have a hunch that it’s more likely to be the Shadows of Yor.

2 RepliesThe reference to shadows in all these definitions is in direct correlation with Calus. Calus has a group of assassins and mercs called the shadows. They were collected from multiple species. These shadows included The Fulminator of the Arkborn, Rull of The Eclipse, Feltroc of The Psion, Sekris of The Fallen, and Valus Nohr of The Cabal. Calus's Bid is to make the guardian a Shadow of Calus. Note how there is a single individual from each race. The problem is that Calus believes he is short on time and needs to recruit all guardians. It is most likely that this is what will happen in "Penumbra".

1 ReplyI can see the last DLC carrying over into a potential Destiny 3 release. A cliffhanger in the Penumbra DLC that leads to the next main game story. Either way it all sounds exciting and I’m hopeful Destiny will be back to a great game!

2 RepliesSo, the umbra is the darkest. Penumbra is the edge of the darkness. Maybe that helps right there. "The edge of darkness."

1 ReplyIt'll be more like a prelude. Something that shows what's to come. Maybe it might have something to do with that object that sits opposite of Mercury on the other side of the Sun. Maybe we'll get a glimpse or an actual siting of The Darkness...be it the ones Cayde saw or something that pertains to us. It's a lot of maybes. …..might have something to do with Io.

6 RepliesI don’t think savathûn will appear in Penumbra since it is a minor DLC.

<I think it's the prelude to Savathun, not exactly Savathun herself. I'd say a large Taken spike and THEN Savathun. Though the name Penumbra sounds like something before the actual Darkness arrives.>
