I have read various rumors on the internet that Destiny 1 servers will be shut down later this year. Is this true?

1 ReplyProbably to force players to buy into d2 since it’s playerbase is still dropping.

Until you see it officially come from Bungie, rumors is all they are.

D1 is goin off alright! All the people who don't want to wait 3 and a half years for a decent D2 are goin back to D1...

Edited by Grzzldgamer: 6/6/2018 7:52:21 PMThe origin of the rumor was a tweet a few weeks ago that referenced something to the effect of when D3 launches (2019/2020) D1 will no longer be supported. What that means is unclear. Like xbox 360, all the games would no longer be supported, but are all still playable years later... Maybe a 3rd party or Activision will move D1 to new servers.... Of course with Bungie working on a new IP, and rumors that Activision will take over the Destiny IP, all bets are really off to what will be the longevity of any given Destiny edition or future sequel... Play it until you can'y anymore.

Can't be true. Otherwise, it would tell the world that D2/3/4 is just a disposable game.
