Is anyone struggling to get anything higher than your current gear?
Everything I get from rewards is always lower than my current piece of gear. Even exotic drops. I feel like I’m not moving anywhere and has been like that for at least 3 weeks. Is there a bug with the loot drops?

I leveled up quickly by doing all milestones each week. That’s literally the only thing that will raise your level. Heroic strikes can occasionally drop items UP TO 360. But if you are higher than 360 (without mods) then those drops won’t help raise your level. What is your current level?

1 ReplyWeekly milestones and raids.
-
If you are doing milestones, they will reward you with powerful gear. Every other loot drop will be below your level, even exotics.
-
Are you including mods in your power level?

time gated progression

1 ReplyI've been doing strikes this week and getting powerful engrams. Seems like every 4 or 5 heroic strikes there's a drop.
-
It’s to deliberately extend your playtime. You only get gear that’ll actually bump your LL through powerful engrams and your milestones, or if you get an exotic. No other way at all. So do your milestones and do the raid to get a bump in LL.

Raid loot and ep lv7 chest will have loot higher, same with milestones and prestige nightfall/Raid.
-
Probably because your other characters aren't high enough. Your other characters effect your drops.

13 Replieslooking at your xbox characters, seems part of your issue is you are only trying to level up one of them. other two are at level 4/power 33, and third hasn't even started D2 story yet. what I found is that you do EVERYTHING on one character first. don't do pub events on all three then call to arms on all 3, etc. you're killing your progress doing that. so you get all milestones done, do raids, even trials if you want. then transfer your highest weapons for all three slots over to your next character and do everything on that one. I only have enough time to really work on two characters a week. for example, this past week (since it is fresh in my mind), my Warlock started last Tuesday at 375, hunter was at 373. I did everything on warlock, including normal raid, eater of worlds lair, and basically did prestige raid up to calus. my warlock is now at 381 (which I am NOT happy about at all!!) the drops were very bad. in addition to getting 377 engrams when I was a 380 (giving me 382 gear), I just kept getting the same stuff. need boots and bond, get gloves again. but now I started my hunter. switched highest weapons over and he immediately went from 373 to 377. all I have done are the flashpoint and nightfalls and he is now 381 with highest power weapons equipped! I seriously think Bungie put in some kind of buff (similar to D1s Iron Banner) wherein if you work on a 2nd (and I guess 3rd?) character, you progress easier? I needed a helmet, I got a helmet. this morning I needed gloves, I got gloves. probably just good RNG (finally!) but yeah I would try it out like this. do everything on one character, then swap to 2nd and continue. but if you are going to continue only using one character, and don't do things like the raid or nightfalls, you are going to have a difficult time progressing. then again, if you are not going to do NFs and raids, who cares about 385 anyway? hope this helps and good luck!

No. Second week in hit 385 on my Titan and 384 on both the warlock and Huntard (damn boots). I also have every exotic. Now, every single engram is little more than shards meaning that in their desire to artificially stretch this game out, there is zero reason for me to play any more. Done all of the raids (or netball as SoS should be called).

Edited by Pippo: 6/4/2018 8:17:33 PMI'm around 370 now and done three raids on my Titan since Warmind. Skipped every Call to Arms milestone except in Warmind's first week. Since you're only 355 I believe you're missing out on some Milestones. - Nightfall - Flashpoint - 3 Heroic Strikes - Clan XP - Call to Arms Assuming you don't raid, or have a clan, I still find it hard to believe you couldn't reach 360. After that point you only get few light level increases on slots, compared to raiding. Let's say you have a 360 chest. If you get a chest via the Heroic Strike weekly engram, it should be 361-365. If a chest dropped in a raid it should be 365-370. However, back to the original point, are you sure you did every milestone every week since release? Before I picked up raiding again in Warmind (was on a raid break in the end of CoO) I quite easily got 360 with the milestones, then it started slowing down. Edit: Ok after reading some comments I also remember some slowing down after 345. Once your Titan has done all milestones I'd recommend playing another class. Your 2nd Guardian can then power up his guns using Infusion fodder from your Titan. In turn, if your 2nd character getd close to your Titan's power level and gets a more powerful gun than your Titan has, that character sends the gun to your Titan, since it's your main. That said, of course you need time to play more than character.

Bungies artificial way of "content" It's like chasing that m&m that falls down the couch cushion. It keeps falling further everytime you get closer. Eventually you're tearing the cushions off and moving the couch. 45 min later you find handfuls of dog hair, 8 pennies, 2 nickels, and that rubber that disappeared a couple months back. But No -blam!-ing m&m... the hunt continues.

It feels like the gap between the soft cap and the power level cap is wider this time. I think the soft cap is 340 (so 345 with legendary mods). Max Cap is 380/385. You need to accumulate 40 power levels with nothing but weekly milestones. I think in the last DLC it was 310/315 and you needed to get to 330/335 They basically doubled the gap, meaning you need to play that many more weeks of milestones to level up. It's pretty sneaky. There was also a glitch on the clan exp milestone so that wasn't helping (I think it's fixed now). Exotics don't drop as higher power levels anymore. They've really stunted progression to slow it down and take longer :( It's kind of annoying, but I'm OCD. So I'll probably play a bit longer to get to max power level. Don't forget to cash each milestone as you get get it, so the next one drops at a higher power level. Also you can infused primary/secondaries of the same weapon, so sometimes you'll get a bigger power boost cross infusing them.

It's not a bug, ordinary loot drops 5 below your unmodded maximum possible light level given the best gear in your character's individual inventory or in your vault. To get more powerful gear, you have to complete your weekly milestones. There are also chests that drop more powerful gear after each encounter in the raid and the raid lairs, and for your character's first completion of the normal and prestige nightfalls each week. I am informed Trials offers powerful gear, but I am not good enough to earn those. To grind your power level efficiently, do as @Legend_Killa7 suggests below

1 ReplyYep me also the only time i'm able to improve any of my 3 characters is once a week doing milestones flash points etc and even then i only improve by 1 or 2 power levels, perhaps by Christmas i'll get to around 370+ my Titan is 355 and both my lock and hunter are 353.

Last time I played did my milestones and nothing dropped to advance me and no 1 plays anymore so couldn’t do the raid or that new public so I got God Of War until my mates decide to start playing again
-
I'm 385 with all characters, took me two weeks..
-
Sleeper and the exotic scout drop at 345 light, the engrams drop -10 light from your current one. Only the bright ones can be the same light than your character or maybe 1-5 points more. Raid is the only activity that had dropped decent armor and gear to me.

Heroic strikes now have a 25% chance for the boss to drop gear up to 360. You can do that after milestones if you have gear lower than 365 (with mods).
-
You hit the soft cap. Do weekly milestones and raids to advance.
-
Weekly milestones, raids. Also the prophecy weapons on mercury will drop higher wheb you complete the verses.
-
3 RepliesOnly rewards that will progress you powerlevel are the ones you get from weekly milestones. Everything else, including exotics, are capped.
