-SPOILER ALERT-
I got stuck with this question in my head.
If noble six didn't operate the MAC gun at the end then the Pillar of Auntumn was getting destroyed at Reach with Master Chief in it and Cortana.
And if Noble Six failed to bring Cortana to Keyes then the Covenant had win the war because Master Chief could not defeat the Covenant without Cortana.
But without Master Chief the Covenant could probally not be stopped.
I know they are both Hero's but which one is a bigger Hero?

John Forge > All ... teehee.... Someone had to say it, eventually. ;)

Chief isn't dead though, who knows, he might die blowing up and entire planet.

Dr.Hasley. she invented the spartans

NOBLE TEAM!!!

Britney Spears is the Hero of Humanity.

Book isn't canon anymore right?
Posted by: ANinjaGuardian The part where the Pillar of Autumn is on the ground doesn't happen, it was still in space trying to buy some time for a Spartan Team.

Posted by: ANinjaGuardian The part where the Pillar of Autumn is on the ground doesn't happen, it was still in space trying to buy some time for a Spartan Team.
I'm by no means an expert, but I would assume game canon overrides book canon. Just like the Star Wars universe, anything in the movies is indisputable, so any books or games that contradict the movies are deemed non-canon. But everyone else already noted this, so whatever. Back on topic: Every soldier was equally important, without their contribution the Chief would never have succeeded. You can argue that the Spartans had a greater impact, but there were countless battles that the Spartans were not a part of. But as far as single handedly impacting the outcome, the Chief probably was more important to the overall effort. Noble 6 just paved the way.

Hell, all the major characters are the heroes of humanity. What about the Arbiter, Keyes, and Johnson stopping Delta Halo? That's just as important as these other actions.
-
i say all the spartans wiithout them humanity would be dead, Also THE BOOKS AND GAMES ARE CANON, theres a gap of time with the pillar in space and not in space, nyland and bungie used that Gap, they used all the gaps in the stories to add onto it..
Posted by: Mikal7 Almost everything in the game never happened, or happened differently. No, wait... Nearly everything in the game NEVER happened. It's a great game, though. I just wish the story was somewhat accurate, rather than trying to (and failing horrible) tack on additional stories.
Nope, wrong. Bungie Canon Policy is new overrides old. Reach is canon. NEXT!
-
Posted by: theHurtfulTurkey Also, according to the books (which are canon...somehow), the Pillar was in orbit taking place in the assault. Cortana was already onboard, and Noble Team had nothing to do with it.
Someone said that according to the journal that came with Limited and Legendary that Cortana was split.. Halsey had one and Keyes had one, Halsey needed her to become whole again because of what they learned. But yeah I guess the books are *out* and Reach is what happened.
-
Halsey is obviously the hero of the Halo universe. She creates the Spartan II program and gets Noble team to deliver Cortana (who she created) to Master Chief (Who she technically also created) who then saved the universe /thread
-
considering that the book was written before the game came, out its all a matter of perspective, yes Fall of Reach describe it as such, but Bungie had its hands involved with the book as well, they chose to add a little more backstory and tie in Halo Reach so that Noble Team had somethign to accomplish, albeit it seemed a little hashed together, but i enjoyed the games story and can forgive story changes.
Posted by: Leafie There is no single hero. Everyone who picked up a gun or made a choice in the war was equally important.
Quoted for ABSOLUTE truth. leafie, i love you.
-
The books had a way better canon.
-
Both of them. If noble 6 didnt do what he did, master chief could not of done his job.
-
Chief is useless without his helpful AI who constantly updates him on whether or not the Cave he is currently in is a natural formation or not. Noble Six is clearly the true hero for delivering this helpful AI to him.
-
Bungie made the games story. It's obvious that what it says is cannon over what the books say. Also I think Noble six is the bigger hero because the way he dies is awesome.
-
both noble 6 helped get the chief and chief saved earth :)
Posted by: ANinjaGuardian The part where the Pillar of Autumn is on the ground doesn't happen, it was still in space trying to buy some time for a Spartan Team.
not anymore. welcome to the new canon

well without 6, MC wouldn't even stand a chance. Without MC, they could have still won but it would be very unlikely. Based on that I would have to go with noble 6 since the rest would have never happened.
Almost everything in the books never happened, or happened differently. No, wait... Nearly everything in the books NEVER happened.
I'm not entirely (or at all) up to date on the cannon from the books, but I would consider the games more important story wise than the books, even if bungie gave them the backbone or w/e and i thought the story was great, a real fun campaign that totally drew you in...
