If you havent heard the news yet, our pals over at Bungie have acquired another studio to work on a brand new franchise that will exist alongside the Destiny universe.
NetEase will be working with Bungie to create new worlds, and a new universe.
It seems that step 7 on their checklist for world domination probably wont happen with Destiny alone, and they know this.
So what does this mean for Destiny? Well as Bungie grows from their profits on Destiny, they will become a studio akin to Blizzard; upholding multiple communities at once with different dev teams on each project.
This would mean that Destiny will be seen out until its end, and support could follow for years afterward.
And hopefully we start to see more meaningful content for Destiny in the time being.
So what could this new IP be?
Well we already know Bungie wants to make open world games.
We also know that despite their story telling efforts, Bungie is best at three things: PvP, amazing visuals, and epic music scores.
So the new IP could very well be an open world pvp centered frag fest of epic proportions.
We know the studio works best with sci-fi themes, and we know they have amazing ideas that just didnt work out in Destiny as of yet.
And depending on when this new IP launches, it could easily take inspiration from other popular game genres at the time.
This new IP means Bungie can use Destiny money to build a new engine, and possibly fund dedicated servers.
All in all its a fresh start for the studio, and Im excited. Destiny is still growing and getting better by the month. But it isnt the end all-be all.
Maybe Bungie really just needs an entirely fresh creative start using all of our feedback to achieve the impossible.
Tldr; someone took the time to write their thoughts. The courteous thing to do would be to read them. :)

Bungie need to get rid of Activision I live Destiny but your making your self look greedy £5 to open 2 engrams lmao I'd sooner just find them.
Bungie is best at three things: PvP, amazing visuals, and epic music scores
Visuals yes. Music hell yes. PvP i'm afraid not. The bile and scum that is Trials is the worst thing that ever happened to franchise. It destroyed everything and has been the cause of the game's demise. The sooner Trials dies the better.

We also know that despite their story telling efforts, Bungie is best at three things: PvP, amazing visuals, and epic music scores.
So it's a battle royale?

Edited by PedalOnTheRight: 6/4/2018 6:49:01 PMThere isn't enough of old bungie left to make good pvp, music, or pretty much anything. BungLe is a better name now.
-
Please take Luke Smith and put him on the new project so Destiny can finally become better!!

It will probably be something that is free to play, cheap to develop and loaded with aggressive micro-transactions. In all likelihood I would be expecting another FPS battle-royale probably with a bit of space magic. Possibly developed for the mobile market.

2 RepliesConsidering NetEase is a Chinese company and considering the majority of Chinese games revolve around microtransactions and pay-to-win schemes, this new IP will be entirely built around that. The game may likely be free to play, but it will most definitely be a pay-to-win game or something of that sort.

7 RepliesYou lost me at “bungie is good at making pvp”
-
1 ReplyYou listed three things bungie are good at, pvp, music and visuals? Two of those things have nothing to do with gameplay and then PvP??? Really??? 😂😂😂😂😂 I can feel a Samuel L Jackson rant coming on.
-
6 RepliesBungie has lost the IP to Activision, that's why vicarious visions (Activision owned studio) is so involved. Watch

1 ReplyWhat does IP stand for?

4 RepliesEdited by Northern: 6/3/2018 5:35:06 AM9th June, new Anthem gameplay reveal. 4th Javelin class. I'm more interested in that than the Destiny September dlc.

This new IP explains the shortage on content in Destiny 2. It also explains why they’ve been so keen on micro transactions. I predict this new IP will be free to play, but consists heavily on in game purchases.

Sweet now scumgie can shit the bed on multiple games at once.
-
2 RepliesDisagree. Bungie is much better at PVE than PVP.
-
You are not Bungie. Your thoughts are irrelevant and uninformed. Until we get a press release from Bungie, we know nothing.
-
Destiny is not important to them, the quality of D2, and its seemingly untested updates, proves it. Now we know why. Don't get grand ideas that Bungie will function like Blizzard, clearly they can't properly handle one game at a time. All the "we will still support Destiny" bs is so people will buy the fall dlc, giving them more funds that they will direct to the new IP. They've lied before, what's different now? Don't be fooled again. RIP Destiny

3 RepliesEdited by fish: 6/3/2018 6:28:20 PMBungie haven’t acquired a new studio, I can’t believe how this post got to frontpage with a lie as the first line. A large Chinese gaming publication company has aligned themselves with bungie, giving them a huge budget to help become a game creation company and publisher. ( a lot like blizzard). Them expanding doesn’t mean anything for destiny, it’s still going to be funded and created, and the same team is going to be working on it. It’s common sense?
-
Sooooo they can ignore all new gamers . I wouldn't hold my breath bro .
-
1 ReplyThe Destiny franchise is already spoiled and tainted. They know it's over amd are taking the steps to move on from Destiny. Comet will bomb super hard and D3 will be officially cancelled. Im sure it already is unofficial internally whislt they "finish" bs for Comet.
-
3 RepliesThe new IP might actually be better than Destiny. Maybe they'll get to build a game they want. Not what some cash grab Activision wants.
-
Bungie haven't aquired another game studios, they have a new investor.
-
It will be some kind of battle royale trash because they can’t do that in destiny.
-
Expect to see Destiny Wars - early 2020 release
-
1 ReplyBungie lost so much money they needed the Chinese to bail them out.
-
1 ReplyI bet they go on to make a mobile card game or match 3 game with destiny character. Easy money and it ain't hard to do. Right up there alley.
