Titans are ranged deficient

Lets face it, the name of the game is range. With guns like lance, vigilance, mida, nameless running rampant, you have to go long range to compete. Every ability of titans requires close combat to be effective and you are either running the gauntlet to close the distance or you step into the hornets nest to try to unleash the ability. Soften up a titan from range and you've temporarily taken him out of the fight or gotten a kill. He has no means to boost himself or recover. Titans are close range though right? Right! But so is every other class. The difference is that titans are ONLY close range efficient. You come to me, or ill go to you, thats how titan abilities and exotic geat work. Titans abilities are the equivalent of bringing two SMGs into crucible. We arent more effective up close, simply only effective up close with respect to gear and abilities. Warlocks can boost their damage, heal themselves and teammates, and recover their health with a melee (no kill required). They have ridiculous ranged melee. Grenades agressively seek enemies. All of these tools boost allow the warlock to force multiply at any range and without the requirement of an enemy in your face, but can also be devestating up close. Running up on a warlock with full shield in a healing well defending a point is way more potent than a simple barrier. Hunters can heal, go invisible, auto reload, disorient, have aggressively seeking grenades, and have access to the longest melee in the game. Again, all utities that can be utilized to increase hunter effectiveness up close or at a distance. How obnoxious is it to almost have a hunter dead and he dodges to safety then comes back at you with full health. Nothing like that in effectiveness within the titan arsenal. With all that being said, what am I suggesting? Not that you turn titans into a ranged class, but that you beef titans in the arena of close quarters. Since that's all we have, it makes sense to make thise abilities distinguashably effective. Example, have each melee provide burn, blind, or suppression according to the subclass, regardless of build. Enhance solar titans burn melee since it already burns. Shield should provide the health bonus that the crest of alpha lupi provides and crest then provide additional health, perhaps throw in a clense of burn, blind, etc. Reduce the damage that penetrates through from rockets etc. Provide exotic gear that boosts auto rifle performance like stability, opening shot accuracy etc. Have a nonexotic elemental scout or pulse rifle worth a damn sonwe can rock things things like surose or the huckleberry without being chopped by those OP guns mentioned above. Enable titans to not just be put on the melee leashe but to operate peerlessly from that arena of combat. If you think any of that is too over powered, just remember, you have to be in proximity to a titan for him to be devestating. We have to adjust our play to combat dual range classes and close the distance, yall just havent had to adjust yours to have to keep a titan out of your face. That is all.

  • Hunter has the lowest melee range of the 3 classes. And titans have the best ranged option with lightning nades and pulse nades. And Hunters "agressively seeking" grenades only do 10 damage per bolt....and there are 4 bolts....that is 1/3rd of lightning grenade damage and half of pulse grenades damage. Hunters only long range option is a super and our guns.....but most maps are tiny in range. The only longer ranged maps are vostok and half of midtown....every other map is a perfect fit for a titan.....wich has the longesr melee range and the best nades in the game.

... Titans do excel in close range, if you play your cards right. To be fair, Wormhusk Crown is one exotic. If they made Crest of Alpha Lupi behave like Wormhusk (it gives a chunk of health but doesn't trigger regen) people would be crying even more because the Barricade can actually stop damage that would interrupt it. I've been running Tractor Cannon and a mobility build, think I hit a 15.0 KD yesterday on a Clash match. I've had smart teammates a few times in Control too. They'd hold down the fort on one point, and protect a heavy ammo drop. Let me pick it up, and I hold our second point. Any time someone came for me, boop. Into a wall, and I can zip in walking faster than I can sprint to take out the other 1-2 guys following them. If you get in a pickle, Barricade for Crest of Alpha Lupi refresh or Ward of Dawn. Because Tractor Cannon suppresses now, you can go full Fun Police with Suppressor grenades, prevent any super from touching you. EDIT: Forgot to mention. ^.^" The whole thing with the current meta is mid- and long-range engagement. If you stay out of lanes and don't run headfirst into a fight, you can usually bait your foes to come to a certain point. Then you close the gap. The thing about being a Titan is that you can't move forward into a wall. You have to let the wall come to you so you can smash through it like the wet paper it is.

It’s sad really. Hunters can get full health from Wormhusk. Warlocks can simply melee an get full health back. We titans have to use Lupi an that only gives us like 1/4 bars of health back. Sentinel gives us a overshield that is true, but you only get it if you pick the bubble class. Bungie nerfed that branch taking away weapons/ armor of light so that whole branch is irrelevant. Hunters have dodge, Warlock has rifts, Titans get a shield that can be destroyed in under 5 seconds. You can’t destroy a rift you can’t destroy someone dodging neither. You also took away our shoulder charge lol an Handed us a hand full of a shitty excuses of exotics that can’t even compare nor compete with the other classes. What are you taking away from us next? Our Titan marks?

        • Shoulder charge should 1 hit kill in the crucible it uses a charged melee so why not? That would make hunters and warlocks think twice. Also we need peregrine greaves back!

          • Titans are not really meant to be ranged fighters they can be if you play them right. Titans are more of close range fighters than anything else.
