Polaris lance is like a black hammer wearing a scout rifle costume. 1 crit = 1 bullet magically returned to the mag without pulling from reserves. Every fifth shot is essentially double damage.
Bosses like Calus who are stationary during damage phases allow Polaris lance to shine. You empty your rockets into him with the reworked rift boots, then you unload lance bullets into him until he phases, never once needing to reload.
But the rift means you don’t have to reload, you say? True. But the rift reloads from reserves. Ever run out of ammo on Calus? Sure you have. With Polaris Lance, crits are FREE BULLETS. You can use the gun as liberally as you want in either the suck room or the stuck room, and still fire into Calus for the entire damage phase even if you just have ONE BULLET LEFT, as long as you hit crits.
If anyone doesn’t think that’s good, then I don’t know how to help you.

5 RepliesThe Perfect Fifth’s damage isn’t really high enough to justify use imo. The explosion from what I was seeing on a few bosses was about 1.5x the damage of a bullet. The DPS output of high impact Scout also is on the lower tier of overall DPS for primaries. Personally, I think, as far as Exotic non-heavies go, Suros Regime(Spinning Up and a reload ability), Sweet Business, and Coldheart are still the DPS machines. Really just autos in general. It reminds me a lot of the Chaos Dogma from D1, but with an explode. That gun was also pretty hyped up on release, but in reality was just okay. Useable but not particularly great

I shall use Polaris lance against small mobs and not bosses.

That's why it's masterwork perk is gonna be dragonfly. Because it is meant for bosses, right?

4 RepliesSo the key to damage per second is to use a slow firing scout with unlimited bullets.

3 RepliesAs a matter of fact, I’m gonna kill dogs in the pleasure gardens with it.

4 RepliesI guess the OP totally forgot about Coldheart and how it puts Polaris to shame for DPS.

13 RepliesEdited by monkeydancer: 5/30/2018 9:12:44 AMSadly dude there are many guns out there that give an aoe effect on precision hits (every precision hit not just the 5th) so the only exotic perk is the extra bullet now and then which lets face it to warrant using our 1 exotic slot isn’t a good idea - now once it gets its catalyst then it gets it every hit just like the legendaries have and a bullet back which makes it better but still taking my exotic slot over some of the more damage dealing guns out there hhmmmmm maybe maybe not. Also it fires so slowly it’s annoying lol
