Now I know what you’re thinking. “Well, it’s because Exotic Weapons have Ornaments instead.” However Exotic Armor has Ornaments too, but we can shade that. Plus, if you preview a shader to see what it looks like, it changes the weapon as if you could apply it.
So why not?
EDIT: Wow, somehow my most popular post on any forum is the one where I complain about shaders.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bungo: BeCaUsE tHeN tHeY wOuLdNt Be SpEcIaL Me: they arent special
-
2 RepliesIts funny because when you try some shaders and you have Mida for example equip it change colors, so basically is in the game data base you can change color but bungie block it.

Worst shader system ever by the way. One use cosumbale BS.
-
Also, why can't we shade swords!!!
-
Very likely so they can use exotic ornaments to help fill the loot pool for Evers. Bungie wants to keep the loot boxes cosmetic (for the most part) so they needed something to wave around and tempt players into spending cash. Hence, exotic ornaments in loot boxes being the only way to customize exotics.

3 RepliesExotics break the rules of the game. So like the light showing you what power weapon your facing in pvp, Bungie wants them to be identifiable. It’s also why the all have a distinct, individual sound when they’re being fired.

Eververse.

2 RepliesThe real question is why can’t we mass delete shaders
-
Too hard.
-
For some weird reason Bungie seems to want to make, most, exotic weapons the least customizable weapons in the game.
-
2 RepliesEdited by Salty Bulldog: 5/28/2018 12:20:40 AMBecause Bungie want people to spend money on loot boxes for the Ornaments.
-
3 RepliesFor $10 you can shade every exotic weapon
-
How else can they convince you to buy loot boxes for the chance at ornaments?
-
4 RepliesEdited by ViableArrow461: 5/28/2018 2:11:47 AMWell, it is simple the ornaments for exotic weapons are in eververse. And if they let us choose between a shader and a mediocre weapon ornament then they would most likely lose money. *EDIT Stupid grammatical errors.

I agree, I would love different colours for my ornaments. I know a whole bunch of awesome combinations I want. Also how textures work in games these days especially destiny, is they use a lowres texture that’s just black and white and they use that to plug in different materials like metals, paint, rough paint, etc... so all those materials are just a click of a button away. Making them all look nice is the other part... that’s why some shaders look better on certain items but not so much on many... not as well optimized in “colour balance”

EVERVERSE!
-
2 RepliesYou can When you preview a shader with an exotic in the primary it changes the exotic weapons color
-
2 RepliesBecause that would meant the ornaments couldnt just be reskins.
-
what about changing the burn. you can change the burn on an legendary, but not an exotic, don't you think that is a little backwards. how can a legendary have better perks than an exotic
-
Eververse. Whats more infuriating is that you can see it was an intended trait because when you "preview" shaders oh you already mentioned that... So yeah...you should be able to but nope...
-
Yep, have been asking for this for a while. Swords too.
-
That's a good question.
-
i don't agree with it completely, but i respect it.

Exactly
