Your Worst Raid Experience?

In spite of all the negativity, let’s discuss something we can all get behind: bad teammates. Last night on Gauntlet, I and some guy that just joined were running. I did my call, as usual, but never heard anything from the other guy. Turns out he actually TURNED AROUND and started running BACKWARDS towards me. I wish I could make this up. So, what’s your absolute worst raiding experience you’ve ever had in Destiny? Edit 1: Some of these stories are appalling. Keep them coming. Edit 2: Over 100 replies, nice. Edit 3: 200 Replies! A lot of these stories are pretty funny actually. Edit 4: Dang, already closing in on 350. If only my Titan was that high a number... Edit 5: Wow, this post really blew up. 500 replies!

    • I don't know whether this is a bad experience or a funny one. First time through King's Fall, and we reach what I like to call the "Wall of D***s". Because I was the newbie, I had to walk up to the little light. The rest is history. I did get my revenge on that, however. Brought a couple of my friends who never did a raid before in, and the two of them fell for the same trap I had fallen into a whole year ago.

      • This isn’t a bad experienced but more of a legendary one. So I was playing kings fall with this guy from Cali. We had been friends since the VoG days. Anyways, his wife was pregnant. So we are at the oryx fight and his wife goes into labor. He deadass tells her to hold on a few more minutes so we could finish the raid. We beat the raid and a few hours later he messages us and says that his baby had been successfully delivered. Me and that guy don’t play together anymore, but I’ll never forget that experience.

      • Joined a group of kings fall AOT The post that I joined one was one of those exclusive you have to be the best of the best kind of posts, like it was saying that you had to have like all the raid emblems for it (that were available at the time), had to be max light and had to know how to do the raid fully without any fault and that if you screwed up you were getting the boot. Normally I don’t join up on these posts not because I don’t fit the requirements, but because I think (imo) that you shouldn’t have to fit any extra requirements other than that the game has set (light level and such) cause for me it’s more about the experience with some awesome people than just grinding it out and grabbing some loot you already got with some sweaty salt lords. (I’m getting side tracked) anyway I didn’t have a lot of time and I wanted to get it done fast so I joined up on these guys I mean what’s the worse that could happen if I get booted so what I’ll join a different group. Turns out that no one had done the raid before and none of them had any idea what to do, yet they expected their six person to be some kind of god. I spend two -blam!-ing hours coaching these idiots on warpriest only to get shit from them and for them to blame me everytime we -blam!-ed up when it was obviously never my fault. Eventually I had enough of their bullshit and realized that I just wasted all the time I had on one of the raids easiest counters so I left. Not even a minute afterwards I got messages from them calling me a shitty person and a ton of other bullshit, I didn’t bother responding cause there’s no point into feeding into that. I seriously don’t get how they could be so toxic and picky they hadn’t even bothered watching any guides or anything. Like I got no problem helping out newcomers to a raid what’s so ever but you can’t not know anything and expect the lfg random to be a god.

      • I have plenty I could share from d1, since I spent a lot of time helping others do challenges or finish raids during the ages of triumph. This particular on I was doing Sherpa runs of oryx and all the challenges. Had a group, four of the guys were fine and listened to my suggestions for strategy changes when theirs proved to not be as effective and caused numerous wipes. One guy biatched and moaned the whole time when HIS strategies were ignored and replaced by mine, which lo and behold worked first or second try every time. His brother who was in the next room kept telling him to shut it because I was giving them the fastest run they've ever had through oryx, even with the wipes caused by letting them show me how they did each encounter. So, we get to the sisters, kid doesn't complain and we get through and to the oryx challenge. I spend a few minutes guiding everyone through how best to do it, kid is still quiet. We start the fight, he does his job, does his call outs, we get to where we are setting off all the orbs and doing the damage phase. His character stops firing or moving, but we still get oryx down and to where he goes to the front of the ship. It is at that exact moment he runs into his brothers room, grabs the controller, and since his brother was the fireteam lead, proceeds to kick everyone else out of the raid except himself and starts screaming "f*ck all of you pieces of shiat for not listening to me!" over the party chat. As bad as I felt for everyone else, I refused to help them finish another raid.

      • People solo parenting and trying to raid at the same time. Dude, your little girl is screaming for you. Don’t you think you should get the -blam!- up and off the game and see what she needs? And if you are thinking ‘well, that’s just how she is”, then you have far greater problems than I could ever help. I can’t stand that shit.

            • So, we're doing Oryx AoT Challenge and it's about 2 in the morning GMT For animosity, I'll call her Bratty. Bratty was one of those..."All men are pigs, the female race is superior" type of girls 3rd wipe In and my Raid leader finally says "Bratty, you aren't helping to kill your ogre you keep forgetting to kill the Light Eater Knights" To which Bratty responds with "I don't kill them, that's your problem." This argument wen't back and forth until things got heated. Bratty went ballistic screaming at us that we're lucky she even, as she put it, "Graced this pig farm of a fireteam with my presence" and that WE should be shouldering all the work. Needless to say, She got the boot. We managed to 5 man the challenge just afterwards and my leader screenshotted the victory and sent it to her, to which she bombarded him with hate.

The Black racist. You try to be nice and some racist with a chip on his shoulder thinks he should talk over everybody to instigate conflict. Every single person out there like this, people don't avoid you cuz your 'black', people avoid you and don't like you cuz you're a DICK.

                    • OMG I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT THIS. Disregard the levi/kings fall stuff. My worst raid experience every was my first WotM run (NM). The team I ran with wasnt the best (to be expected, only had 2 kings fall runs and 1 crota run, lol) It ended up with us taking 6+ hours to get to aksis phase 2...and just as we were going good, nearly finishing the encounter once...my dad decides to turn off the wifi. He quite litterally decided he couldnt wait another few minutes for me to finish this. Litterally all I wanted from the raid was the genisis chain and the arms...both dropped from aksis phase 2 I think. Since then, I've avoided raiding as to avoid foreably ditching another team (made me feel bad, absolutely hate leaving teams regardless of whether they are crap).

                          • This is why I didn't use LFG in d1 and always had a designated raid team. So I was doing hard vog in year one and used LFG to get a team. I got what I thought was an experienced team. We had no problems up until the oracles, thats where it all went to crap. Now I would call myself pretty experienced in vog, since I've done it almost every week after I was leveled enough, but these guys would just not take advice from me. They where so uncordinated and all over the place trying to kill the oracles and not even calling them out, and they would refuse to use their heavy weapons on the oracles saying "We need to save ammo for Templar", as if we could even get TO tempalar. We eventually got through taking a whole 2 HOURS. And the craziest thing is the rest of the raid went smoothly and killed atheon without wiping. Thank god the PC lfg community is honest and skilled and understanding. So now I can have more success with LFG.

                          • A bunch of guys during kingsfall that wouldn't stop mocking and insulting me because i was white. Kept asking me which schools was my next target and if i found mayo spicy. All conversation that didnt involve the raid at that time was about how horrible "dem whites" are. Ended up blocking all of them.

D2 is my worst raiding experience. In fact there is no raid in D2. Its super Mario, hide and seek, and prisoner ball. Since HoW Bungie is on a strong trend to eliminate any shooting challenge. This game has turned in a circus for kindergarteners with no lifers scrubs ganging to compensate their lack of skills. It’s like all these scrubs talking about world’s first. There is no world’s first in this game since Crota. All those scrubs have no idea of what a competition is, and what equality is. At the time of the VoG everyone was 27 period. There was no lvl 30 going in the VoG. Now there are so many no lifers scrubs that play 24/7 with employees and the like to reach the highest LL possible before facing a challenge, then go around like birds showing their wings. They’re the same that would go to a class of 5 years old and feel like a boss because they were able to run faster. Lmfao! This game’s cheapness is only rivaled by the cluelessness of its fanboys.
