The “Story” of Destiny 2 and each DLC does not deserve to even be called a “Story”
Appalling how awful the story is. I’ve switched to God of War and never felt better

2 RepliesIn general, people don't play video games looking for a story. I know, there are some wonderful stories in games: "The Last of Us" comes to mind, and I've likewise heard good things about the rebooted "God of War". But in general, D2's story is about what you'd expect in a video game. Ironically, D1's was vastly inferior.

Central problem is this game has no main story. Ghaul was more or less a side story, osiris was a sidestory, and now warmind falls under the same category. There hasnt been a conflict that has carried over from game to game.

Are you people getting paid to trash the game or something? Just like the other posts by people with 0 raid clears saying the D2 raids are terrible, or the people with barely any playtime saying they've run out of things to do when they don't do anything anyway!

6 Repliesexcept you seem to assume the whole world agrees with your personal opinion, and only the ps4 underpowered, overpriced console hypemachine exists to play games on. i like the story. osiris wasnt all that great for me, and warmind i wanted it to be a lot longer, but since they are supposed to be setups i wasnt expecting a skyrim sized game wrapped as dlc. you're entitled to your opinion, but the agressive way you proclaimed it like everyone agrees makes people want to disagree not because they do but because you came across as arrogant.

When Destiny was first developed the entire story and its 10 year arch of events was laid out. But most of it was abandoned before Destiny 1 came out because the bigwigs at Bungie thought it was to "Involved" and that no one would care about the details that much. To see what Destiny was envisioned to be and what it has become is just a sad story of ineptitude and laziness all in a push to make an easy buck.

Eh, a story is a story. The whole nokris and xol thing was a surprising twist. I enjoyed that, and the music in warning is pretty good. I didn’t care too much for the Osiris campaign other than the infinite forest and garden world looked really good at first glance.

It's also a different type of story than say a more linear narrative like God of war. Though to be fair there's also a lot of story to find if you explore that game. That's not to say content doesn't exist though, it just isn't force fed to you it's more in the shadows and corners of the world. There's that dude byf (sp?) whos basically made a name for himself just on the stories and lore behind all the things in destiny that most players never know about.

as long as you aren't claiming it was "better in D1", I respect the criticism. I don't play Destiny for the story, but I have always enjoyed the world and art and it makes me sad it isn't better. I thought the Vanilla D2 story was the best told so far. I agree with people that complain the world isn't as lore filled and interesting in D2 compared to D1 at its best (TTK IMO). But the linear story was a huge improvement over any D1 effort. The dlc's have done a better job than $20 D1 dlc... but they are very bad stories. And if they aren't going to have time to flesh a story out... they should tell smaller less important stories in the D1 universe. Wasting Osiris on that DLC was a shame, etc.
