Bugged Exotic Catalysts
I have spent hour on end grinding and haven’t seen any. My friend spadehedarkdj has all of he catalysts except for like 3 or 4 of them and I have none. I have done probably around 25 heroic strikes just for no reason and haven’t seen any. Ive done prestige nightfall and regular nightfall still nothing. I’ve only done two heroic adventures but I don’t really care to try those anymore. I’ve spent so much time just in patrols killing anything and doing public events. I’ve spent enough time in the patrols that my friend and I have gone through and found all 40 data fragments without a video guide or anything which was about 3 hours or more than that and we have the exotic sparrow and sword. I am convinced that it is bugged for me. This is beyond stupid and I’m tired of hearing “oh cool I just got another catalyst” and every time I hear it I reply with “oh wow guess what. I still have none” it’s definitely not RNG. There is no way that it’s RNG if I’ve spent 20+ hours trying to even get one so I can be sure that it’s not bugged and I’ve still not gotten one. Fix this crap please

4 RepliesOne word. Ghallajorn. Took over 6 months to get my first. Then I got 3 more within a few weeks. No joy here. Try the crucible. I got my one and only there.

1 ReplyIve ran over 200 prestige nightfalls the past three weeks and received 4 of the strike catalysts - prometheus lens, riskrunner, wardcliff & merciless (i got wardcliff & merciless within 20 games of each other yesterday)

4 RepliesI don’t know if it’s just bad RNG or bugged, but I would bet that the community is not helping itself. The clue for strike specific catalysts says something like- “Earned by defeating the toughest opponents in strikes”. The community assumption is that this refers to yellow bars. So what does the community do? Well of course! The community incessantly blows right by any yellow bar that can be bypassed without contact. The big bad yellow bar dude on the ramp before the Tank encounter is a perfect example. For all we know it may be necessary to kill one of the yellow bars that EVERYONE blows by over and over. I would not be at all surprised if it’s bugged, but I also wouldn’t be surprised to hear players reporting success if taking the time to kill EVERY yellow bar in EVERY strike. Right now almost NOBODY can be bothered with that. We may be just shooting ourselves in the foot by lazily blowing by yellow bars to shave a few minutes off of any given strike. Just an absolute terrible idea when logically considering the Exotic Catalyst hint.

I don't think they're bugged. All the catalysts have the same chance of dropping; but the ones that drop from killing enemies, obviously we have far more chances. The strike/adventure/crucible ones are one chance per activity, so one chance every 10-30 minutes, instead of dozens of chances per minute.

3 RepliesI had the same problem. I played heavily since warmind release and didn’t receive any. Yesterday i repurchased all the exotic weapons over again and placed them in the vault (I didn’t delete my old ones). I finally got the Borealis one an hour later. I haven’t received anymore, but at least I finally got 1. This may just be coincidence, but I’m almost positive they are bugged. If you have enough legendary shards then try this and see if it works. It dropped in escalation protocol btw Edit: I got one for DARCI 2 days later also.

Hello i made a poll to narrow down how often those strike catalysts drop. [url]https://www.bungie.net/en/Forums/Post/245480198?sort=0&page=0[/url] If you got one please leave a comment where you get that catalyst (boss, boss chest, etc.) and maybe some info on active buffs (Fireteam Medaillon, Three of Coins, etc)

Unfortunately this is RNG - also I want to make sure you know that catalyst drop in specific activities Vigilance wing , colony, mida multi tool only drop in crucible (with victories) I got crimson in raid

I feel your pain but I was in the same boat. Then suddenly I got 4 this weekend (previously played 5 hours a day min since download and got nothing). I have no idea wtf - it was all from random ads I cleared. No quest rewards or anything like that. Makes no sense. I hope your RNG luck improves. Here's me sending some good karma your way.

1 ReplySame here, over 50+ hours played running every activity, with 3 characters above 360 power level and I have all the available exotic weapons. I'm very experienced with RNG from D1 days, but this feels different to me. I'm the only one in my clan without one. I can understand waiting forever or months for an exotic weapon drop, but the catalysts are small upgrades. I feel like this is bugged for me.....

That adds up to quite a bit, and an increasingly small drop chance, as time goes on. We're not talking the 10-15 exotic engrams you might get in a week (pre-TTK, obviously not as literal engrams, but as drops), that probably had a higher chance of dropping Ghally, but rather something where you're getting thousands of chances in the week for it to drop (talking mainly DARCI or tractor cannon cats.) I'm not going so far as to believe it's bugged yet. But... I have been playing pretty steadily since the DLC dropped, done about 12 raids, found every cache (which, during that, killed lots of adds), 20 some strikes, a couple of crucible matches, a couple of moderately steady EP rounds, a bunch of public events, 4 nightfalls, and I've done the sleeper and exotic sword quests. If I don't get one by next week, seriously just want one (hopefully DARCI), then I'll probably make a tin foil hat.

Rng man, its a grind but they do drop. Its a good thing too that we have something to grind for.

You're not alone. I haven't played quite those hours, but not far off and I've got nothing. Mean while on the bottom left of screen I see "So-and-so found XXXX Catalyst" and all I can do is stew in my anger.

I understand people are saying it’s RNG, but it seems really suspicious when it seems like everyone has multiples at this point and a few people haven’t seen a single one. If it’s just unlucky RNG that’s fine, I just want to make sure having some item equipped isn’t -blam!-ing me over or something like that

Same, I have played 40-80 hours since warmind dropped doing various activities and have not had a single one drop. The progression system is currently holding me back and making the game not enjoyable, I'll give it one more week before I put this game back in the trash where it belongs.

15 RepliesHas anyone gotten any of the Catalysts that are supposed to drop from strikes and heroic adventures? Been running and regretting life in the strike playlist for some time now and have yet to see myself or any of the randoms I get paired with get a catalyst to drop.

I've had a few of them drop but I've been playing a lot since the new update. They certainly shouldn't just give them away for one strike or one crucible win. If you dont expect them to drop the reward is so much more satisfying..
