New destiny player here who started when it came out on pc. I recently played on PS4 with a friend and couldn't believe how much worse the game feels at 30. Mind you this was a PS4 pro. How are people ok with this game being 30fps? Battlefield 1 is 60fps on console with huge maps 64 players and vehicles everywhere . Why is this not 60fps on a PS4 pro?!?!

2 RepliesCuz I could care less... would 60 FPS be cool? Yeah but it’s no big deal to me

Nobody's ok with it. We just deal with it. Kinda like dedicated servers. Everyone begs for it but they won't do anything about it.

You do realize Bungie and Destiny wouldnt exist without consoles? The whole revolutionary thing Bungie did was design better shooter controls with Halo. 60 fps is better and if I start doing meth I might switch to PC. Otherwise I'd rather chill. Got cheaters? PC does.

1 ReplyBecause a good game is a good game regardless of what platform or frames per second it has.

2 RepliesPS4 pro sucks and bungo can't have the game running much better on the capable Xbox X.

2 RepliesBecause the consoles don't have the powerful enough CPUs to run big, open-world games at 60fps without having to sacrifice other major aspects of the game experience. In the case of Destiny it would have meant having to settle for smaller play spaces, with fewer, dumber enemies. Even conventional shooters that do hit 60fps, do so at a cost. Games like Halo 5 and Titanfall 2 do it by sacrificing resolution. Titanfall ran at only 710p on the original Xbox 1....and still had to sacrifice background detail to reduce CPU load. Halo had such obnoxious "texture popping" that it used to give me a headache and make me slightly nauseous to play the game. Battlefield 1 is not a true 60fps. It is NOTORIOUS for having really bad problems with frame rate drops. Especially if you're tyring to play it on anything other than PS4 pro or Xbo 1X. Bottomline? Unless you're playing an online competitive shooter (because refresh rates are usually synched to frame rates) or playing a game with very fast moving objects that you need to be able to see very clearly (like racing games). High frame rates don't really have that much of an impact on game performance. So it comes down to what you're used to seeing.....and what you're willing to trade to get a certain framerate. If you're used to seeing 60fps or greater.....moving to 30 fps is jarring. If you're used to seeing 30 fps.....moving to 60 fps or greater can be irritating and feel "cartoony" and "unrealisitically clear". As an RPG gamer...and someone who has spent most of his life viewing things in "cinematic" framerates of around 25-30fps.....games in 30fps are not a problem for me. And I'm not willing to give up the other aspects of game design and quality of game experience just to get that high frame rate.

Idk why people need to whine their hearts out over 60fps. Yea it’s better, I understand that, but if there is a game that is everything your looking for, I’m not turning it down just cause it runs at 30, nor will I bitch that it is. 30 is good enough for me. I don’t give a shit

I will take story over the frame rate any day.

3 RepliesBecause it makes no difference

i play on both i adjust from 60 to 30 with no issues, im just used to 30 cause ive been a filthy console player my whole life
-
Who says I am? I play on console and PC, and console players will say they are fine with it... until they actually experience 60 FPS. Once you go back to 30 you realize how clunky the game feels.

Because the bulk of our friends are playing PS4. They don't have the money or the knowledge to get a high end computer. Yeah it's also a pain to get a PC version right now as it would mean starting all over, new character, new friend, and new reputation to establish. It ain't worth it for 60 fps. They way it boils down is PS4 is more mainstream than PC... :p

1 ReplyEdited by GalaxySpider: 5/17/2018 10:15:26 PMIt‘s a technical thing most people don‘t understand anyway. I guess the engine simply is too old to support HDR/4K (and god knows what) on consoles which will always be mid-range PCs, mo matter how powerful an Xbox One X or PS4 Pro are. Not to mention the actual graphics engine and/or networking stuff (which does require a high CPU load) going on in the background (synchronizing A.I. combatants for example). Battlefield for example, while beautiful and able to support many players, was always a multiplayer game and DICE even developed a brand new engine later, just for this game. That never happened to Destiny. What Bungie did was upgrading the engine to enable some nice new fancy stuff and it seems like they used Reachs engine and upgraded it. Could be wrong here though. So, simple answer: the engine is aged. But heh, I don‘t mind. The game looks beautiful, runs smooth and plays great. There is an 60fps option and it is called PC. Also it makes no difference besides everything running faster or a more precise netcode (tick rate) which could come in handy for PvP. With no dedicated servers though it would be pointless.

Not ok with it but I like to lay and relax and play with my buds so console it is.

We're not gonna pretend like it's a problem.

Not fine with it but what the hell are we going to about it.

2 RepliesEdited by GēmoLuna: 5/17/2018 7:02:08 PMI always liked the charm of non 60fps games. I didnt play Halo MC collection much because I missed how the older versions used to run. Though I could do without the lag spikes.

Mostly because I don’t care.

5 RepliesTime to get off your high horse sir

Because pretty graphics, and more importantly companies want to sell TVs. Not easy to advertise framerate to people that don't know what it means and when their display doesn't have the framerate to show it either lol.
-
you understand that we have no control over this correct? Bungie doesn't make the game 60 fps cause it would only run well on xbox one x and bungie hates xbox.
-
Im not. But you know what ya gonna do.
-
Because i dont care how bad or choppy things look, I just play it for fun.

Do we have a choice?
Already Own A Pc
2 RepliesWhy is the most beautiful game ever on PS4 and not on PC?

3 Replieslol where did you get the idea we were ok with 30fps? people have been bitching about this since pre release when we found out it was going to be 30fps.
