What's the probability of an Exotic Catalyst drop?
I keep hearing people in my clan getting Exotic Catalysts, some even getting 3+, while others getting 0 and have been playing for 35+ hours this past week (such as me). So I mostly want to see how many exotic Catalysts have you gotten this past week. I want to see if this is like Nanophoenix low.
Edit: There seems to be approximately a 1% chance of an exotic catalyst dropping an hour as long as you're doing stuff. (Meaning that a normal enemy has a chance between 0.01%-0.10% and a crucible win is about 0.4%.) Thank you all for participating in the poll!
Edit 2: if I'm right, Fun side note. It'll take 300 hours of gameplay for a 95% chance for an exotic catalyst. 458 hours for a 99%. And if you're that lucky 1 in a million, you'll need to play 1374 hours :D (seeing as there are over a million players that means that there might actually be someone in that category)

I’ve got about 140 hours in since start of season 15, dropped around 8 or so in 95% PvE and 5% PvP. Actually I’ve gotten at least 3 from strikes, and a couple from Lost Sectors. The rest are world drops and none from PvP.

115 Iron Banner wins (so far) since opening on Tuesday. No drop from a win. 233 matches played, no drop from a medal. I’ve lost faith in Bungie’s drop rates entirely. I’ve been running 3 of Coins for half of IB and haven’t noticed a difference at all in the amount of exotics engrams that are dropping either. On top of that, so far I’m missing about 2 thirds of the exotics in the game, yet with the last 4 exotic engrams I’ve opened, I’ve had no new exotics. All duplicates. In fact, I see more exotics given to my clan mates when I’m wearing 3oC than I get.

Close to 60 hours into crucible this season and still no catalyst drops of any kind. Currently have and completed: Polaris Lance Crimson DARCI Tractor Cannon Graviton Lance 2/5 of Worldline Zero However, all of these dropped within the 1st week of the Warmind update. Since that week I have received 0 new catalyst drops (except Graviton Lance, since dead orbit was about a week ago). I have 1 alternate account that I do all the milestones with as well so lets say roughly 120-140 hrs since my last catalyst drop. Seems a bit off. . . .

From public areas: DARCI Crimson Tractor Cannon Huckleberry Worldline Zero From nightfalls: Coldheart Prometheus Lens Merciless NPCs: Polaris Lance Graviton Lance Crucible: None (didn't play a lot) The nf / strike catalysts are a bitch to get. Drop rate for nf seems to be higher than for strikes. I have been playing the Warmind DLC a hell of a lot (around 300 strikes + nf so far, 115 EP bosses killed, ... you get the image). Generally, the catalyst drop rate / mechanism is retardedly, abysmally bad.

I've played everyday since Warmind and these are the Catalysts that have dropped so far: Tractor Cannon D.A.R.C.I. Crimson Skyburner's Oath Jade Rabbit and Graviton but that's from Faction Rally.

I was looking up if there were any bugs with getting drops I have still yet to get one dropped I’ve done 6 raids all my mile stones and more and still nothing since they were added to the game

1 ReplyI got crimson and darci but I can't for the life of me get a crucible one. I'm playing banner now and I been playing for the past 12 hours. Been playing crucible regularly since warmind dropped and have yet to see a crucible one. It also doesn't help that I hate control and that's what I'm stuck playing all day. But the point being I have like 20 hours just in crucible in the past 3 weeks and have yet to get one from there

60+ hours, 3 characters at 380+, lots of play in crucible, have ALL exotics except worldline, and ZERO catalysts. I have played with guys at LL 340 that have barely had time to play and they have 6 catalysts. Something is wrong with this drop rate.

1 ReplyI disagree. I've been playing since DLC dropped 4-5 hours at a time, with and without 3 of coins and vanguard token. No catalyst dropped... I.e. zero... zilch, nada... I personally think it's broken and not being acknowledged by bungie. I'm pushing 380 light as I'm posting this. So I'm doing a pretty heavy grind. My friends who are casuals have had 3 to 4 drop.

All three characters to around 360 and not one catalyst has dropped. Clan mates are getting multiple before I even get 1 - has now become the running joke.

My buddy and I have been playing solidly since the DLC dropped, we've done the same missions, public events, cucible, strikes and raids, we did all of the collectables and have roughly the same amount of sleeper nodes done too, yet he hasn't had a single catalyst drop in all that time and I have 6 so far, it's a little bit weird if you ask me. On tuesday we played 5 games in the crucible and I got The Colony catalyst in my first game and The Jade Rabbit catalyst in my fourth, I'm starting to think that the system may be broken for some people.

2 Replies50+ hrs of play. I have done most milestones weekly on at least two characters. That’s crucible, 3 raids, strike, and world events. Still not even one catalyst. There is something amiss. The regular drop rate for masterwork is way higher the exotic drop rate has been one of not two a day in play. But no catalyst wtf.

3 RepliesTwo characters at 360. All milestones done for all three etc. Three catalysts, Tractor Cannon I found from the postmaster, so must have dropped mid- heroic strike. Borealis dropping from a major Hydra during a heroic strike. Crimson dropping out in the world during patrol stuff.

I have all the “kill things” catalysts from just completing the campaign on 2 characters and some milestones. It’s RNG, but they haven’t been difficult to find thus far.
