Exotics are, for the most part, weak. The claws are no exception. But the claws and a few others fall into a category that really can only be described as "would be (was) good or broken in D1". The claws were a good exotic in D1 due to the higher melee damage in PvP (and PvE to an extent, but why use claws in Pve when winter's guile exists?). This is not easy to fix, as buffing melee damage is not so much a buff to these as it is a buff to smacking people in the face. What should be done to make these better? I've included several ideas that would, in my opinion, help make this a better option on the first step to making more powerful, game-defining, exotic armors.
More Perks
[spoiler]
either steal from other exotics or create a new one. One idea could be charged melees recharge 25-50% off your next charged melee, allowing you to almost always have a melee charge. A perk from another exotic that would work fantastic on this is the Warlords sigil from winters guile, allowing increased melee damage on melee kill, as even 1x stack on a charged melee could be devastating.

Better Perks
[spoiler]
Not much I could think of for this, as it is both similar to the last category and there's not much to be improved. not sure why I included this.

The Bungie way!

Personally I love these gauntlets. Running a warlock in devour with these is one of the best things I have done yet. It gives me a second charge to hit something again, allowing me to go right back into devour if I'm in a tight spot. The gauntlets have saved me and my friends more times than I can count.

1 ReplyLol. Eternal Warrior is lamer, and even more useless. They need to give these exotics a CRITICAL rework, and need to fire the idiot coming up with these dumbass ideas.
-
And what are bunghole listening to these days?
-
5 Repliesor it stacks damage and then when you have 4x damage if you hold down the melee button it sends out a huge ball of whatever element you are running creating a devastating aoe explosion
-
9 RepliesI haven't gotten these yet but does the double melee give you a nearly-full grenade charge using Voidwalker's Attunement of Chaos?
-
2 RepliesThey have just fixed/buffed exotic weapons and I believe they are doing the same to exotic armour in the future, maybe September.

2 RepliesEdited by BoomboxCollosus: 5/16/2018 4:54:45 PMWe need a Soup N@zi character in these forums to take care of this relentless, nonstop "Nerf that, buff that" nonsense unfairness crowd...." No buff for you!!!" Don't forget your participation trophy on the way out.

I see your point, mele doesn't do what it used to so they need a buff, could I recommend they increase the ability of the meles natural perk... devour lasts longer, thunderstrike chains more, when running them?
-
I just want the double melee charges back.

Tripmines and Lightning grenades were so good in D1. Now you have to be borderline -blam!- to get killed by one.
-
I guess a use case would be if they gave back enough health to live 3 melee's, because they would get health from the melee. But personally I can't stand the 3hko melee thing. So they should make it so that all melees take 2 hits but with these, you live 2.

U wot

2 RepliesThey can't be made "better". Bungie is obsessed with balancing the game around PvP to the point where exotics like this just aren't allowed to be good without breaking the Crucible. They have to be redesigned into something else entirely.

Hey, at least it affects all your melee charges. The Ophida spathe only affects knifes which kinda sucks

Edited by blade329: 5/15/2018 4:10:55 PMCan't be any worse than Young Ahamkara's Spine. Why do these exotics even exist in the game at all? What was the point? Bungie thought it would be cool to create loot that nobody would ever care about using.

Claws are bad because melee attacks are bad now. If melees did the damage they did in D1 these would be broken.
