Why did Xol go down so easy, and nokris too

what really puzzles me is how easy nokris and Xol died. Xol is one of the hive worm gods , and nokris was one of oryxs children so i expected a raid from one of the two, not another raid lair

  • I had the same thought. Ghost said he had NEVER felt something so powerful when you face XOL. Yet he has scanned 11: Emperor 10: Crota, son of Oryx 9: Warpriest 8: Templar 7. Emperor Calus 6. Golgoroth 5. Atheon 4. Oryx, the Taken King 3. Aksis, the Archon Prime 2. Vosik, the Archon Priest 1. Skolas, the Kell of Kells These guys need fire teams of 6 guardians yet I can spank Xol as a single guardian. I would call that a pretty big plot hole

    • Nokris wasn’t powerful like Crota. He was more of a strong mind than strength. Xol was also the weakest of the worm gods.

    • From a cutscene that had me go "OOOOOOOOHHHHHH SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIT" to a fight where he looked at you while you murdered him... I was very disappointed.

    • Well they weren’t in their home world or whatever, that might be why. They were also frozen for quite a bit. It does seem like Xol especially should’ve been a bit stronger though. I mean, he’s a huge giant worm.

I liked those fights though and the way they looked, but I agree another raid fighting the siblings would have been a cool story within the warmind dlc and I can’t help but think Rasputin could have been corrupted by the hive and tested humanity before accepting the burden off babysitting, because the universe is a vast place and what makes us so special to someone with no equal, but saying that he could have said ‘I only have one other equal’ and left it at that, dun-dun-dunnn But, we got, what we got!

        • In the lore, I believe that Xol is the weakest of the worm gods, along with Nokris. He was disavowed by Oryx due to his little strength, and was essentially shunned by the hive.

          • Nokris isn't dead The haven that we used was SUPER CHARGED by the core meltdown to help kill xol (Come on pay attention to what your goal is through the alien face splatter)

          • Because “making content is hard” it’s much easier to make a sponge boss than a Raid. Plus, they’re more focus on Eververse. All that lore is now irrelevant.

          • 1) both were frozen on Mars since the collapse, unable to grow in power in any way. In comparison, crota went on a killing spree, fought off the vex, demolished any guardian presence on the moon, before we came along and killed him in the raid. 2) Xol is shown to be one of the weaker worm God's, only a little stronger than the worm God oryx killed (sorry, I honestly forget the worms name). 3)sword logic would dictate, after killing his brother and the father that banished him, that we would be powerful enough to easily kill at LEAST Nokris. And by doing that, sword logic would make us even more powerful. Tldr; sword logic is the main reason why they died so easily. Missed opportunity? Absolutely, but lore wise it makes sense.

            • Oryx killed Akka on his own We killed Oryx, therefore making us stronger than him via sword logic Xol is the weakest of all the worms (look at the size comparison. The dreadnaught is made of a single section of Akka. Look at how big that is compared to Xol) Killing Xol should have been a lot easier than it was in game

              • I took a run at nokris at light level 316 on my Titan, and only got him to about 1/2 life bar before dying and heading back to orbit. It was a helluva lot of fun running and gunning, killing hive and trying to stay alive long enough for grenades and super to recharge. I’m gonna have another go at him when I get around light level 330 to see if I have just barely enough. I don’t want to fly through it feeling empty and cheated.

Hive Gods need tribute to be strong, and stay strong right? Hence how we could take down Oryx. (Crota and everything else we killed alone the way massively weakened Oryx). Xol and Nokris have been without tribute for a pretty long time being frozen in the ice. They've been starved. Plus, as heretics of the Hive they're also cut off from any help. So they're not that large of a faction in relative terms of Hive. Xol and Nokris where also never really strong. Their strengths where of the mind rather than matter. So being generally weaker than the foes we've faced before, plus starved, it makes sense they where plot fodder to us.

                  • In the lore, Xol is the weakest of the worm gods and Nokris is a necromancer so he is never truly dead, like Omnigul. At least that is what my lore-buff friends have told me...

                  • I thought that first, it think about it. If Oryx's Dreadnaught is made out of a Worm God body, then Xol really must have been a weakling. Don't get me wrong, I wanted Xol (and Nokris I guess) to be given a far better story and boss fights, but Akka makes it sound like Xol was the weak pathetic sibling of the 5.

                    • Just read the lore tabs for the Worm themed Exotic helmets. Eris will tell you that Nokris and Xol were the weakest. Nokris rejected the Sword Logic to follow the path of "resurrection" which caused Oryx to flip out and erase his name from history aside from a permanent statue on the Dreadnaught. Meaning: Nokris isn't strong as Crota in terms of strength, but he makes up for it with intelligence. Nokris isn't dead. Xol did nothing for Oryx. That was all Yul, and then Oryx took his power from Akka. Xol was afraid of being consumed by Yul, so he made a pact with Nokris and took off to Mars where Rasputin froze everything. Centuries without any sort of power offering weakened Xol and Xol was the weakest of the Worm Gods already.
