Because of the Warmind dlc power levels on activities had to be increased, but for me a solo player it is near impossible to progress power level, there are a few reasons why. Firstly there is only 3 milestones that are really suited for solo players (Flashpoint, Call to arms and Heroic Strikes.) and they only refresh once a week so you are only getting a few pieces of gear that are better than your current gear, but in order complete activities other than crucible you need a higher power level, basically you need a higher power level to do the activities that give the higher leveled gear. In short you are locking out solo players from progression, since they cannot regularly participate in raids and or Trials of the Nine. All I ask is for the in game progression not to require raids and trials just to be able to level at a decent rate.
(TO BE CLEAR! I am not suggesting that you should progress quicker or even at the same rate as somebody who does raids and or trials, I am merely suggesting that you shouldn’t feel forced to participate in raids and or trials just to progress at a REASONABLE rate, I also fully agknowledge that destiny isnt intended to be a solo game but that is not a practical nor logical way to approach developing a game, they cannot put in solo suited milestones and say that’s all you get for the week, that is why I suggest that they make it so at least one piece of gear that is higher than the players base power level will drop from crucible, strikes and maybe even a small chance on public events just so every activity doesn’t feel like a massive waste of time.)

7 RepliesEdited by ILoveI6v6I: 5/14/2018 8:44:51 AMYou're a solo player. You don't play the activities that require high power levels anyway. You won't play the Spire of Stars raid lair, you won't play the Prestige Nightfall....the only thing you're locked out of is Escalation Protocol, but once the non-solo players are max power you can still join in and get the loot if you see other people playing it (that will probably start happening next week) so.... Why do you want to progress your power level if it will make absolutely no difference?

Edited by AJH910: 5/12/2018 9:04:01 AMIn D1 I played everything but raids and trials and, apart from the 'forever 29' times, mostly had some avenues for progression. Due to the activity changes in D2 I haven't played any crucible/IB or nightfalls but still managed to grind out my cap through 3 milestones a week (Flashpoint, Clan XP, and 3 heroic strikes). Now it looks like I only have Flashpoint to level up each week as Suraya only gives me 340 engrams (and pretty much everyone of the 99 clan members have quit anyway), and the heroics are nigh on impossible at 345 (and definitely not enjoyable). I've already collected the 45 data fragments and got the sword and sparrow (yay) and am at the Sleeper quest point of doing heroics but am stuck there as I'm underlevelled. I can't see myself hanging around for weeks or months doing 1 milestone a week to finally get an exotic that I already had in D1. Really does look like Bungie are trying to get solo players to quit. When I bought D2 I got the expansion pass, giving me CoO and Warmind. Which means the next expansion will cost me more money, which atm means the end of Destiny for me.

Edited by Eu4ia15: 5/11/2018 10:33:18 PMTotally agree with this post, I'm seeing the frustrations first hand. I'm not here to argue but as one more solo player I feel the pain of the OP. I'm not a casual or wasn't in D1 but maybe now because the only time I progress is on Tuesdays, So one day a week if I'm feeling interested. D2 kinda sucks because it only wants you there on bungies terms, when they want you to progress and only a certain amount of progress a week , it seems like it's just shallow and they spread it so thin.

12 RepliesSolo players can paly the Flashpoint, Heroic Strikes, Call to Arms, and the Nightfall...if you're really stubborn about it. The only parts of the game that you are locked out of are the Raids and Trials. There is NOTHING keeping the solo player from reaching max power level. You will simply reach it slower than someone who is willing to team up and play the ENTIRE game. Which is how it should be. ...and this largely solo player has no problems with it.
-
But Raiders and Trials players have to feel special and ensure their place at the top of the food chain for doing one specific type of activity. If they aren't first to max power then you're going to hear some bitching.

1 ReplyEdited by Prof Sheitbag: 5/14/2018 4:33:49 PMEnough already. People complained that progression was "too easy" and "nothing to grind for" when D2 dropped, and continued that complaint through CoO. Bungie addressed that here (poorly IMO, but they still addressed it), and you people complain now about being slowed down in progression because you won't do the raid or trials. Anyone remember D1 when it dropped? The only way to hit max light was to play the raid on hard difficulty. You had to play the raid to hit LL30. Now, you can hit max power, but it is not good enough because other people that will play more can get their faster? Enough of this garbage.

Use Guided Games to complete Nightfall(normal), in your first clear it will drop a legendary of your level, plus you will have a powerful engram from Zavala. So, make sure you complete others milestones first. Normal Nightfall doesn't require communication or group coordination.

Get yourself a clan bud

Next week progression will be up for Heroic strikes, nightfalls, and crucible Call to Arms. After that will be prestige nightfalls and Escalation Protocol. Just take a week off and lore hunt like I am doing. That at least gives you some time to customize your sparrows, ships, and gear. This is no race.

Destiny’s servers will be packed on Tuesday and dead the rest of the week once people get all three characters past the story mode and hit 345. It’s gonna be worse than pre warmind.

Edited by cooperlicous05: 5/13/2018 8:54:22 AMBasically they are locking you out of progression because they know there is barely any content for players to be held over until next reset, so they just settle for the player that come on at reset complete their milestones and come back on next reset.

1 ReplyWhy should you be able to progress as quickly as those doing all the milestones when you aren't doing the endgame activities?
-
2 RepliesOnly way they can do this is by adding an end game solo activity.

2 RepliesMars rarely has more than 3 other guardians when I spawn in. Not great for taking on EP.

7 RepliesThe back of case says 1 PLAYER along side Network Players 2-9, go look. That means Bungie designed this game to include solo players and advertised it as that. If this was purely a multiplayer game it should say so. I for one don't want and am not saying
I want the whole game to be solo
I'm saying that solo players are considered in design decisions that can and do affect a large portion of the community. Thanks for your time.

Totally agree with you. I'm majority solo player except when i have time to do strikes. Since the beginning I've never achieved max level or anywhere close to it due to the progression slows to a crawl with broken arms and legs. Pretty much they lock out anyone that doesn't do endgame content or pvp from achieving max level. I've always got to a level where any new guns and armor drop at a lower, same or 1 point above what you have so you get to a point where you cant advance and have max credits and a ton of shards because you disassemble everything due to not advancing. There should always be a way for solo players to advance.

I mean most of destiny caters to people who played with friends, as bungie said numerous times it's to make friends and play with others. Not sure how people can stand to play this game solo all the way. There could be a better system but at the same time it would make power leveling too easy to achivee endgame level so this is probably the best solution ATM (though there is room for improvement such as heroic strikes not dropping 350 gear that's just dumb)

2 RepliesEdited by DeathPony07: 5/12/2018 3:32:22 AMYeah, grinding power levels is AIDS. I probably won't hit 380 before the next expansion. I just want to play the actual game and grind for cool loot like D1 in Year 3. The weekly milestone bullshit needs to go. We should be able to continuously grind for exotics, strike specific loot, faction packages, and other endgame loot, outside of raids, that is guaranteed to be higher than our light level. Why was this changed for D2? It worked great. Tokens are literally useless. All we get is crap that is 10 levels lower than our level. Why was infusion changed to be class and weapon type locked? You had in perfect it Year 3. Destiny is a FPS, not WoW, or 6 Month Level Grind Simulator 2018.

How hard is it to use lfg on xbox game manager or playstations version of lfg? I mean come on it not like d1 where you had to go to a website to lfg now each platform has a community or groups system with lfg in it. Seriously put some work in. And also you can do guided games for nightfall normal which still counts as milestone just at 270 and no modifiers at all (not even nightfall modifier)

Edited by AlphaLion42: 5/11/2018 9:35:28 PMThank you for posting this. I totally feel your frustration here. Honestly, as a solo player, the fact that they did it this way, kind of kills the incentive to even play.
-
I agree. I'm a solo player as well
-
Edited by DadKev: 5/11/2018 3:41:17 PMI also expect that the majority of playing time is solo by a large margin. Think of your own playing time. How much of it is in a manually formed fire team? For me, it's probably 10% at best. Compare that to how much focus Bungie puts on solo play. Regardless of what the intention of the game is, the bigger consideration should be how it's being played. This might make an interesting poll for someone. What percent of your playing time is with a manually formed fire team?

It's sad that you can get +9 engrams from playing the raid and raid lair. So if you feel like doing the raid you can level up very easy. If you feel like doing other stuff you get screwed. Bongo also screwed us on the Clan engram maxing at 340. No way to do the NF either, at this rate it's going to take about 4 to 6 week to be NF / EP ready. I've done the raid about 7 times, but it's not fun. Maybe I would have tried the new raid layer if I had a way to get raid lair ready, but i shouldn't be forced to play the old raid again. It sucks. Been there, done that, and it was not fun or rewarding when I ran it. I pretty much only do it now when a friend or clan mate invites me. Don't get me wrong I don't mind people doing the raid leveling up. But the leveling scale to screw over most of the paying players is stooooopid as all hell. It's like they want to FFFFFF over the last couple of people playing this game. Who keeps making these stooooopid decisions?

Said it before.. Destiny needs small team end game. Something similar to PoE or CoE in D1.. Right now its a pain in the ass to find anything worth doing outside the weekly milestones. Unless you raid or run Trials. The current progression system is designed to hold us back for as long as possible. That artificial grind.
