In the campaign we discover that Rasputins core is on Mars and the Bunker in the Cosmodrome was a form of Rasputin post collapse ,Which makes sense as he only gives commands and not actual dialogue ,Hence ghosts line at the end of S A B E R 2 strike "Not even a crazy Russian thank you from the old man
Yet once we get to Clovis Bray Futurescape on Mars ,where everything is written in English there ,why is Rasputin still speaking Russian ? Did someone change his language settings or is this just something Bungie didn't consider ? Like ...what?
also was anyone else hoping Rasputin would have an awesome Exo Form that we were gonna meet?
EDIT: Yes I am aware that the IRL Rasputin was Russian,But does that really answer the question here ?

Well, Rasputin it's surname of Gregory Rasputin (Grigoriy Rasputin or Григорий Распутин) and maybe AI Rasputin was created by russians cus' he was a russian priest and also adviser of Nikolai II (Nicholas II)

1 ReplyIN Mother Russia... Russians speaks Rasputin.
-
Its obvious. His name ,duh.
-
Because the real Rasputin was Russian.
-
Because Bungie made a stupid and confusing retcon
-
Rasputin’s always spoke Russian since we first came in contact with him in Old RUSSIA (really Kazakhstan but whatever.)
-
Because Rasputin The Warmind feels like it.
-
Maybe because Rasputin was a real person who was russiand and a self proclaimed holy man
-
Because communism?
-
1 ReplyBecause Rasputin defeated the Globalists.

7 RepliesEdited by Yaro: 5/11/2018 9:39:36 PMI'm Russian, but Rasputin's voice is so badly modulated I couldn't make out a single word. I went over cutscene several times to no avail. Now I'm thinking that was intentional, for whatever reason. Except for one part of course, when it says "I am Rasputin" so legibly that it is clear the voice actor is most probably native speaker. Why hire someone who can speak the language you want as perfect as the next guy and then make him shout into steel bucket for the speech? Go figure... Kinda funny how easily Ana translated that nonsensical echoing shout If I can't. Or did she?..

Because he’s a RUSSIAN AI!
-
Because Russia won the war you not see dog!!

2 RepliesIf you look closely all those English signs also have smaller Russian text on them too. I would assume that the Clovis-Bray corporation is partially Russian.

1 ReplyThey really dropped the ball on the Warmind DLC. I thought it would open up some speculation with Charlemagne and the use of Joyeuse as Destiny's resident rogue Artificial Intelligence. Bungie's other two AI's were Cortana (Curtana) from Halo and Durendal from Marathon. Each AI was named after one of those three mythological swords.

1 ReplyThe Russian Bureau of Aeronautics was the one behind the exodus program and lots of other colonization efforts. It would make sense that a weapon partially designed to protect and help participants would speak the main language of the organization. Plus, there are Russian and Chinese captions for all the directions at the Futurescape, so it was clearly an important language.
-
Rasputin was built in Russia as the most common language there is Russian he speaks Russian. After we activated the array in D1 he spread across every warmind bunker in the solar system it's the same as you going to another country but still speaking your language...
-
His name is Rasputin and hes referred to as Russian, what we're you expecting him to speak? Charlemagne probably speaks German and every other warning based off of an old historical figure most likely speaks their respected language.
-
1 ReplyBecause he was originally the warmind of earth based in Russia. Then he was retconned to take Charlemagne’s place or seemingly so. The dlc would have made more sense in the context of Rise of Iron forming the basis for D2 and instead of Zavala should have Saladin. He was the one who didn’t trust the warmind not Zavala . Also, Siva would have been the darkness worship that the fallen have engaged in D2. Content is so cut up that it doesn’t make much continuity or sense.
-
You do not call someone Rasputin and have them speak any language besides Russia, that’s treason!
