As much as I appreciate harder content and more challenges, I believe the soft cap at 340 is too low. I get it, you want to make sure that people play longer and push them towards all the different milestones and your endgame, but this simply needs adjustment in order to make sense.
I believe the softcap should be around 360, because this way the Heroic Strikes recommending a power lvl of 350 would make sense. Currently it feels challenging but unrewarding, thus the Strike loot also needs to be upped to 350.
You can't just make the content harder but not scale the rewards with it, why would anyone ever run strikes this way, after the 3 weekly milestone?
Suggestion:
- Strike Loot at same power lvl as the recommended one
- Soft Cap at 360
- Hard Cap unchanged and reachable via endgame content & milestones
You can't just make the content harder but not scale the rewards with it, why would anyone ever run strikes this way, after the 3 weekly milestone?
Bingo. This sentence sums it up for a lot of players. I can see running strikes simply because they are FUN, but for whatever reason for me the strikes in D2 just aren't as much fun as a chore. Maybe the game is just starting to get old. I'm losing interest in running the same activities over and over and over. I also think forcing players to execute activities they don't want to play will end up as an overall negative for the game, as players ultimately resent not being able to reasonably progress in the way they prefer to do it. Oh well...

1 ReplyI'm guessing the op was born after the year 2000.
-
2 RepliesEhh, I see nothing wrong with it. Yes, heroic strikes are difficult right now this first week and the drops don’t get your light any higher, but beating it at that challenge level really makes it live up to the name of “heroic” strike.
-
2 RepliesNo. It's called grind. Grind is what folks wanted, now certain ones such as yourself don't want what they got. Grind lengthens the game, which is a good thing. Warmind is reminiscent of the old days, which is a good thing.

1 ReplyIt's the first week of a new expansion. Stfu. Go play Mario or some crap.
-
No there is nothing wrong with the softcap. It just takes longer to get to the higher light levels. Take your time enjoy it. You will get rewards.
-
You just need to do the prestige raid so you can get gear above 350 so you can then do those heroic strikes because that totally makes sense and isnt retarded in any way
-
strike loot has been soft capped since d1 day 1, why is it a problem now?
-
13 RepliesThe grind is fun right now which is good and very easy to surpass, my Warlock is 357 with my weapons on and my Titan is 360, I haven't even touched my Hunter yet. Just suck it up and get grinding, it really isn't bad at all.

18 Replies>People complain there is no difficulty in leveling up and getting to endgame >Bungie adds tons of difficult content for us to do >Outcry to make things easier for us and not hard anymore >Everything is Bungos fault

1 Reply*1 day into the DLC* "Bungie! It's taking too long to progress!"
-
1 ReplySoft cap is good as it is, there is nothing wrong in not getting to cap light level in the first 2 days. Destiny 2 needed this as it was way too easy to level up in vanilla and CoO. I don't get what's the rush to level up.
-
Heeeeere we go.....

12 RepliesIt hasn't even been two days lmao. This is what happens when Bungie caters to casuals.
-
Nah, adapt.

I'm at the point I wish they'd just move to an XP based leveling system. While I think they are finally starting to move the game in the right direction, leveling should be based on time put into the game and not based on playing for a couple of hours on reset day.
-
Yeah I always liked strikes. Now there's no point. I'm at 350. Why would I want 340 loot?
-
4 RepliesI mean I've gotten gear pieces at 357 so... Maybe you haven't been grinding enough?
-
I agree it should be changed although I don’t think there should be any progression halt.....I’m all for grinding and the new difficulty but the harder activities (heroic and nightfall) should always have a chance to drop slightly increasing gear.....you’re chances of receiving higher gear should just drop more and more the higher you get (unless it’s raid or trials).
-
I think all milestones tied to specific activities should drop gear with the same benefits of a season 1 and 2 powerful engram, but only up to the activities power level. That way you can get up to 350 from a 350 heroic, 370 from nightfalls, max from raid.
-
You are right on the rewards for the strikes
-
I don't agree with the numbers, but I agree with the idea. They got it really close, just need to tweak it a bit.
-
I say 350, than u go play stikes that can get you to 360, than its raid and trials from there
-
2 RepliesI would agree that the new progression/soft cap system is not working. Its almost like they designed all the activities first and then went back and lowered the soft cap after deciding they wanted it to take longer to reach max power. Heroic Strikes are 350, Escalation Protocol is 370 but they only drop 340 loot??? This doesn't make a whole lot of sense to me. Why would I engage in that activity when the rewards don't help me?
-
Nah. Heroic strikes should be considered end game though and give better loot. 340 was the soft cap because if it was 350 or 360 heroics wouldn't be difficult. Heroics were a fair challenge once I made it over the hump of 345 to 346. and at 348 (where i'm at till reset) it's pretty lax with a decent challenge. Heroic strike loot should give up to 350 gear. Which means 355 with legendary mods. Which is good enough.

The 340 cap makes little sense. I agree with what you’re suggesting.
