I would love to pick up this game again, but so far ive read a few reviews that this dlc is lackluster...
I know plenty of people on these forums are BDF and have the Season Pass - so I ask you folks, is this worth $20 bucks for someone who didn't buy the season pass?
If you vote yes, EXPAIN WHY IN DETAIL
People are voting yes but not taking the time to say why - I'll assume those are mods or bots.

2 RepliesStory is bad. Weapons arent game changing. Escalation Protocol is a glorified public event. The raid lair might be cool. Extremely short campaign with horrendous dialogue. Nonsensical and lore changing events written into existence for no reason whatsoever. Can't seem to ever hit the new pvp map during quickplay. Still no LFG system or anything that allows you to meet, chat, and form up, in the actual game. Music is pretty solid. Planet art is actually bad this time, landscape is boring. Enemy AI is no different, extremely low tech at this point... Ill mention extremely bad writing again because it deserves to be mentioned again. Best IP in Gaming, Absurd Budget, Horrible Execution. Vigilance Wing the only pvp weapon. Power ammo increase doesnt make me feel heroic. New exotics are garbage. No customization. No RPG elements. No depth of any kind anywhere. Not worth playing. Why am I writing about it? Please reboot me...

As a long time destiny fan i'll try to not look at it through rose colored glasses. So for $20 you're actually getting a lot when you break it down and look at it. Firstly a new story which some will complain it's short and albeit 4-5 missions long its enjoyable for what it is, you get to meet Ana Bray just like Osiris characters only talked about and that's great introducing more characters that people want to see. You get to encounter a worm god and learn more about Rasputin's motivations. The most obvious plus is a new location which again some will complain its not a different planet but its the ice caps of mars and its very fun to explore as there are 42 hidden data pads for you to locate which in turn give you an exotic quest line to do once you get about 35 (i think). And of course escalation protocol; a court of oryx 2.0 if you will where you face off against waves of increasing difficulty and they are difficult its recommended light level 370 so you will get your ass handed to you in a good way and it has great rewards, plus at the end there is a unique final boss which will cycle out each week just like court of oryx so there are 5 unique bosses in the open world game mode. Next is the the new strikes and raid lair (i know some people say they can't do them because they dont have a group just go to destiny lfg i've done it plenty of times in D1). Plus coming back now if you already aren't is the crucible changes valor and glory which you build up rank to earn rewards for the season instead of a temporary title or charm i'm looking at you R6 so there is incentive to do that as well. Personally i enjoyed my time with the dlc and its definitely a step up from Curse of Osiris and a step in the right direction just like D1 had to do. It all comes down to if you want to indulge

14 RepliesIt’s a good stride towards making this game what it should be 👍🏻

2 RepliesNo it is not. The only people who said yes are lying

2 RepliesI skipped Curse myself. Between the two how much content is there?
-
2 RepliesMy take is the comparitive value. I can't think of anything I can spend $20 on and get the same enjoyment and fun value. $20 is going to a movie including the popcorn, drink and candy bar. $20 is 4 trips to Starbucks. $20 is a meal at a mediocre burger place. $20 is 3 pints at the local pub. All of those last an hour or two. I've already had close to 20 hours of enjoyment out of this and there's more to come.

I am enjoying it. It is challenging due to the power level increase on the enemies. Reminds me a lot of d1... But you are still not seeing things like amazing new creative weapons. The exotic sword was worth it for me. Huge risk, high reward sword. Fun as can be in the crucible for me. I have got a couple double downs with it so far... not sure if you could get a triple down... a little harder to find that situation in pvp. The quests raise curiosity, but the overall reward is yet to be seen. It all depends what your view is on the game. You are not logging in and going wow, but the purpose to grind is there. A sense of mystery is much stronger. I am actually loving the ranked... not because I am playing it, but because all the try hards are and quick play has been really fun now. ha!! The new weapons are pretty amazing in pvp and I am not even using any of the fastest ttk meta weapons due to the new legendary weapons being good. However... I do not see anything that will carry my attention until the fall. I am seeing a good month of grinding to get to good power level and getting the raid lair down with my team... we will see how good the lair is today.

4 RepliesEdited by Astartes Marine: 5/11/2018 1:32:31 PMFor $20USD? I'm enjoying it. I was skeptical, but then my wife got it for me as a gift so I jumped in. Sure the campaign is fairly short (as was TDB and HoW) but it was action packed, brought forth new mysteries and foreshadowed future conflicts. The Adventures are enjoyable, one in particular lends further foreshadowing to a coming evil that we will have to deal with. There's the Escalation Protocol that provides a solid challenge. The Hellas patrol map is much larger than Mercury and full of things to do, enemies to kill, 4 public event spots, and collectibles to find. I believe I will get my value for my dollar here. It's not perfect, but it's a step in the right direction and Bungie needs to keep going.

No, spend your money on a real game like Transistor!

Yeah. While the story length is halfassed, it’s not bad excluding a pushover. The strikes are both story missions, the lair has yet to come out so who knows with that but Argos (Curse lair) is fun so here’s hoping. Escalation is hard as hell but fun nonetheless, and mars itself is fun to run around on. It kinda has the Luna vibe from d1. Personally I think anything that can give a 1$/hour of non repetitive enjoyment is fun so no duplicate characters. I’ve had the past days off so far and have been playing only D2 these days excluding an hour or so of rockband 4. The problem is that you need Curse to play Warmind. Curse is not worth the price at all

2 RepliesI’m certain at this point, the only way we will ever get the game we want, is with a subscription service. I would rather pay $7 a month, I would even pay more if we had content that had meat. Raids every 2 months ? New story ? But weapons and armor is a must and also new activities

2 RepliesPosting after comment. At what point do people stop saying its rushed and expect more? CoO was very lackluster(in terms of amount of content) and according to the community "rushed" but it had been 6 months(not making light of the work done on it). Did they rush it or did they just no put enough ($) into it and provide the staffing model to accomplish the people who are invested in it are asking for. I for one love Bungie for the world and characters they have created in Destiny. I feel that players want more out of this game then what a 20$ expack with one or two maps and a short campaign will provide. Destiny is following the CoD model(of content release not gameplay) right now, and fans want a more MMO type model for the game. I would think that Activision realizes that the model wont be able to swing more one way or the other and turn a profit so its squeezing the sponge until it is dry. I don't mean this in a negative way it gives more Destiny to those who want it, just maybe not how people that play it want it. I want more out of this game but I just don't see it happening"

1 ReplyWarmind is worth it if you want a bit of the same, and a ton of new things. The story is fun and does a few interesting things, but is severely rushed and feels underwhelming. There are tons of new exotic quests so chase after, and many mysteries hidden on Mars. Escalation protocol is great although no one can really give a good opinion on it since no one is high enough level to do it yet. Seasonal crucible rankings and vendor ranks are fun and decently executed. Overall I'd say buy it if you don't care too much about a measly $20, if $20 is a lot for you then I would hold of for now.

2 RepliesIt's decent. It depends on how much value you hold for your $20. To be honest, that's the cost of 2 6-packs of beer. Or a pack of smokes and a round of beer. Or an hour at the bar. Or 2 tickets to a movie. Or maybe dinner at a cheap establishment. I say that to say this... if you're expecting over-the-top game-changing additions.. then no. This isn't it. It has a mediocre campaign. I wasn't really a fan. People are claiming it's 4 missions but it's more like 8. You have to level up in order to participate in the last couple of missions so I chose to do the new adventures on Mars. It's extended my campaign a little longer. I don't understand the 2 bosses at all. The main boss was a joke. It was cool I guess, but I literally took an emergency phone call in the middle of it, expecting that I would die and start over but I needed to take the call. I didn't die. I was AFK for a minute and a half and I didn't die haha. On the main boss fight of a new DLC campaign. Aside from that... some new levels to chase, new guns to chase, new shaders, etc. 2 new strikes that I'm under-leveled for. 2 new pvp maps. Some new emblems. Meh. It's more stuff to do for $20. Nothing extravagant. Like I said.. it boils down to how much you think $20 should get you and if you want something to do for a couple weeks.

2 RepliesEdited by Nicko: 5/10/2018 4:20:20 AMNo it didn't. The campaign it's good, but hell it's short. I mean, 4 missions short. You do absolutely nothing AMAZING, and we could make the main campaign from vanilla d2 look nothing with this story "Nokris and a Xol killed, we could make it take like 20 missions and still don't look boring at all." "Nah let's make them kill a wormGOD and the son of FU**** ORYX in 20 minutes missions, sounds better.". You know, it's all amazingly beautiful, the guns, even the frozen hive, but hell no, you would enjoy more if you wait about a year or so and take all dlc's in a pack with discount. Btw, Bungie we barely had where to put a lot of stuff that we wanted with 200 vault space, you throw at us a lot of cosmetic armor, guns, ships, sparrows and ghosts shell (I meant cosmetic because we know, nothing to make them really different even if they look darn cool, and oh boy they gave us some really beautifull ships! haha) but then again 300 vault space? You can only be kidding with us... Edit: Heroic strikes now really are different from the normal ones, even if not that hard. Edit2: They messed up in the new strikes, we have 4 missions in campaign and at least 1 is a "New Strike".

Try again in September, that's what I'm doing.

Edited by Neck: 5/9/2018 9:05:16 PMFor the price and comparing to previous DLCs in the franchise, yeah but if your tight on cash maybe not. Don't expect it to be The Taken King, that was 40$. This DLC is like what 15$? Edit:* Also as for the cost of buying the dlc for 20$ and comparing it to Destiny1 then.. yeah I think it's on the same level of Destiny 1's Darkness Below DLC. 2nd Edit:* I hear the strikes are reused story missions, I personally haven't tried them, so that may be a turn off. At least for me it is.

It's the same as any other $20 DLC Bungie has put out.
-
If you walked away from the game, there's nothing in this update that will bring you back. Check back again in September.

It’s more Destiny but not really innovative.

Too early to tell for me. The raid lair will make or break it for me (as usual). The exotic changes are fun and cool and gets you out of your preferred loadout. The content currently is pretty challenging (cause everyone is under leveled) but we will see if it stay that way. The light level grind is definitely there again to an extent. I think at the end of the week people will be 355-365 range depending on how much they play and luck. The grind for random stuff is there as well. Lots of hidden fragments and stuff that rewards you with weapons I think. They will take awhile to get playing normally. I also have only gotten one new exotic so the drop rates for those are also lower. Couple that with masterwork exotics and you have a lot to grind for. If you like grinding, you’ll probably love it for about a month. Then it’ll revert back to basic D2 I think. It’s definitely better than Osiris that’s for sure. The campaign is super short tho

Edited by puppyk1sses: 5/9/2018 7:40:50 PMAsk this question when the honeymoon period is over in about a week. Remember the first week or 2 of Vanilla D2 when it was getting rave reviews? It takes time for people to get over the newness of it and look at it objectively. The responses you will get in a week or so will vary widely from the ones you’re getting now. Spoiler alert: hell no, it’s not worth it.
