His model and voice is creepy and scary as -blam!-!
That almost makes up for the misuse of it, but eh who am I to judge.
I get huge Gravemind vibes from that scene.
Edit: To those who feel like Xol was a easy Boss consider this, lore wise.
Every Hive has their own Ascendant realm, it could be big or small, as evidence by a few scannables on the Dreadnaught in D1. Hell, we killed two gods in their own throne worlds.
Now, consider this. Every hive is considerably, and I mean EXTREMELY, weaker than in their throne room. Their only advantage? They get to keep coming back, as evidence by Omnigul.
So, it would also stand to reason that Nokris and Xol, would be extremely weaker.
Not good enough?
How about this?
Xol was known to be the weakest Worm God. Akka was the strongest and largest, until Oryx gutted him and used its body as a throne world.
Xol was more for trickery and wisdom (sorta). Plus, Xol had been incased in ice ever since the collapse, or hell, even longer! That would make him weaker since the hive and their worms (Aka Xol) survive by feasting on conflict.
Xol wasn’t doing shit for years!
EDIT 2: How about this? Would you rather have a cool boss model and a clear and present purpose, or fight three reused Minotaurs and having ghost claim the black garden was dying.
Which do you prefer?

You know the giant sandworm from Dark Souls 3 Catacombs of Carthus?

1 ReplyI like how everyone is using D1 lore to defend D2 and its asinine use of lore characters when Bunghole themselves threw all of D1 lore into the trash. Suddenly lore matters as to why a worm god was taken out by a glowy stick. Sorry, I mean folklore.

1. Hive are way stronger in their throne world fore example Oryx' s campaign mission versus his raid 2. They get resurrected when they are not in their throne world hence cross and Oryx final death in the raid
-
1 ReplySlight parsing issue, Hive are a lot stronger in their Throne realms, not weaker. Consider Oryx's fight in the story and him in the Raid.

2 RepliesNo doubt... Should have been a raid boss. In my opinion, Bungie’s pivot to Leviathan based “raid lairs” is one of the main issues with the game. Raids used to do two things... Give challenging content to play every week, and act as an epic conclusion to the story line... We used to slay gods during raids. Now we slay gods during mundane, easily soloable story missions, and the raid is just a game that we play with some jackass in a ship hovering around in our solar system for fun. Honestly, this DLC was fun for about two hours, but whatever raid lair drops at the end of the week will do absolutely nothing for push the story forward, and the content in the DLC is easily run through in a few hours. At the end of the day, it does nothing to address the primary issues that this game has. Sadly, I think that Destiny 2 won’t make it past the fall release.

2 RepliesThat ogre on lvl 1 of Escalation Protocol is stronger than a hive god.

1 ReplyGood point.... ...and one that the complainers keep missing. We killed Nokris and Xol in THIS realm. Given how the Darkness operates, there is NO guarantee that either one of them is PERMANENTLY dead. In fact, odds are they aren't. Oryx cut Savathun's head off (while she was hiding a dagger behind her back) to borrow the power he neded to take on Akka. Yet Savathun came back, because she hadn't been destroyed in her throne world.

4 RepliesI thought he was a good boss. Could have been a little harder. But presentation and music was spot on. Certainly much better than giving us 3 gate lords as the final boss to a campaign.
-
1 ReplyI keep forgetting the Dreadnaught is Akka's skeleton

3 RepliesWhat I don't understand is how Xol is a strike boss as well as the main campaign boss...how does this work lore wise? Did we kill it or is it still alive? Also the dlc added zero lore or backstory to Xol or any of the worm gods leaving the whole campaign a confusing mess with the whole Nokis/Xol saga being given a few lines in exotic tabs
-
Frankly I think it makes it worse. The cooler he is the bigger the letdown.

19 RepliesEdited by xTGE: 5/10/2018 6:21:45 AMIf I’m correct, the worm gods are stronger than Oryx (correct me if I’m wrong)... this is like a slap to the face for lore lovers. How is it that Oryx, a servant of the worms gets his own raid but the worm god is reduced to a shitty bullet sponge final dlc boss... it’s so stupid.

It’s Xylar the timeless
-
2 RepliesEdited by Swiftlock: 5/10/2018 4:34:45 PMXol would be fantastic with some remixed mechanics thrown in outside of what happens in the campaign.
-
Nokris escapes doesn't he? We don't actually kill him do we? Although I was disappointed he was so small I bet he will be the raid lair boss
-
I think Xol and Nokris were exited perfectly
-
Would of been far much better if there was a cutscene where Xol was about to destroy us but then Rasputin fired those massive cannons at him which kills him
-
4 RepliesEh, my tapeworm is bigger and scarier.
-
So much wasted potential with Xol. He makes a grand entrance only to get killed by us in like 5 minutes
-
7 RepliesHe should of been much harder to kill. Sure I died 7 times but one Guardian downs a worm god?? Fer fuck's sake!
-
Edited by HiddenAlignment: 5/10/2018 12:15:15 AMI thought worm gods can only be killed in their own realm. Perhaps in the raid, the hive perform a ritual to revive him. Then we can get an actual fight. MORE XOL!!! COME ON!!!
I love his voice too
-
9 RepliesThanos in Fortnite has a scarier voice lmao

It's just Gravemind 2.0 screen shake and everything else.......
-
Gravemind vibes...i think that’s the point

Yeah, I killed Xol with my regular weapons.. easily. A Worm GOD and I killed it with pew-pews.. feels bad.
