So I know for a fact people have known about this essentially since launch - but in the Tower there is a room you can access with some shifty platforming in the hangar that leads to a small "office" type area.
Previously you could examine a prompt on the table that suggested the prompt was for Ana Bray's diary. The prompt was badly placed, and sometimes you had to be at the exact right angle to grab it, but it was always possible to play the dialogue.
Well today, just for fun - I jumped up and couldn't help but notice that the prompt was gone. So I started doing some investigating - and I ended up finding the prompt about 20 meters away in the wall of a vent. Now I wasn't sure if my game was playing around, so I had a friend come and investigate and he found it in the same spot. We also left the Tower, and entered another instance to check - and same results.
I find it interesting that Bungie obviously deliberately took the time to try and hide the prompt off-map, (but it's still within reach.) Why would they do this? They left access into the room quite easy, and outside of saying Ana Bray's name, the dialogue really doesn't spoil well... anything, it seems pointless to have moved it.
What do you guys thinks?

4 RepliesWhat's a meter?
-
2 RepliesAs others have stated, it was moved as it was causing the tower load-in black screen glitch.

It was moved due to a memory issue which was impacting spawns into the tower (black screen) bungie mentioned this a couple weeks ago when it was moved lol

Edited by Dingse3: 5/6/2018 7:49:50 PMThe item is on a load border. It kept glitching players once they crossed over that instance, so they moved it 👍🏻 They’ve addressed this in a blog

Basically, that item was continuously duplicating. I think, and I could be way off, it was caught in a semi-infinite loop that caused it to duplicate. It was the only scannable item that I had problems with. I think it caused a memory leak, if I'm not mistaken.

2 RepliesI believe this and another one were moved due to memory or something like that. Tldr, it was causing the black screen.

1 ReplyThis was noticed weeks ago, it was moved due to the fact it kept spawning (repeatedly) when we dropped by the tower, moving it 20 meters away to the vent apparently fixed it.
-
Noticed that too. Strange but deliberate

Bungie moved the journal to fix a bug where the scalable would duplicate endlessly and take up a lot of data. They did the same for the speakers book just in case.
-
This journal was the cause of the infamous Tower Black Screen. Due to it lying exactly on the loading zone between both the hangar and the "market", it would improperly load and duplicate indefinitely. This would eat memory and cause the black screen. So they moved it.
-
1 ReplyThey moved it because it was causing the black screen bug, where you could hear everything in the tower but wouldn’t actually load in.
