Escalation Protocol Rewards

Hey folks, seeing a number of questions on how the rewards will work in Escalation Protocol so I wanted to try to clear it up a bit and get folks on the same page without people needing to stalk my Twitter timeline (which, as it is finally going to be nice in Seattle this weekend, will probably mostly be cats/beer/drone flying) Escalation Protocol rewards are split up in to 3 main channels: vanity, weapons, and armor. Each channel operates a little bit different to give people different pursuits and provide rewards at different rates/tiers. I think the diversity of this reward delivery is something we haven't done a lot of in Destiny 2, so I'm super curious how it feels once you get your hands on it. That aside, let's jump in! Vanity: These rewards are low drop chance, and can come out of any Escalation Protocol chest you open during the event. The further in you get, the higher chance the chest has to grant one of the EP exclusive vanity items. However, even if you can only clear up to wave 3 (the first wave that spawns a chest upon completion) then you can get a chance (admittedly very low...) at getting one of the vanity items. EP has an exclusive Ship, Sparrow, and Ghost. Weapons: These are your grindable rewards. They don't drop as power upgrades past the soft cap (so you'll want to infuse something in to them if you're past 340) but you can spend as much time chasing them in a week as you want. They're a low drop chance from the wave 7 boss, and the reward pool changes for the different bosses. Three of the bosses have a specific weapon (between shotgun, sniper rifle, and smg) tied to them and will only drop that weapon. The other two bosses can drop any of the three weapons if you just want to grind and roll the dice. Armor: The armor set comes from a chest that appears after beating the wave 7 boss. This chest requires a key to open, and characters can earn one key a week by playing other Warmind activities to build and charge their key. The armor pieces that come out of the chest are awarded in a specific order, and you won't see repeats until you've collected the entire armor set. The order is Class Item -> Legs -> Arms -> Chest -> Head. (If you're wondering why Class Item is first, well, I main a Hunter. Capes for life.) I should note that while not really part of one of the three main reward channels, the unique Escalation Protocol shader is one of my personal favorites (because I love orange) and comes from killing the final boss. Hope this clears up any confusion, and let me know if there are any other questions about EP rewards I can hopefully help with.

    • May I ask why only 3 weapons and not even useful ones. No scout not pulse or auto. Shotguns and snipers just aren't worth using with the current weapons system. Smgs are good for PvP but that's it. So please tell me your going to add a lot more. Other then experimenting I always use the same load out for one and another for PvP. These are mainly legendary weapons I got in the beginning of d2. Please we need more new weapons and more variety.

      • yeah... ok... good to know ! garbage activity with garbage rewards, if you think i'll play 7 stage event for 340 gear well you're crazy ! if your plan on keeping single player at level 340 when 400 is max then I can tell you it will take 2-3days and your entire playerbase will be gone ! good luck trying to sell Destiny 3

Let me put this into perspective for you guys. Warmind's new mode Escalation Protocol (which is supposed to be the saviour of D2) has 3 new weapons and one armour set including a ghost, sparrow and ship. Season 3 of Eververse will containt probably over 100 items. Tons of sparrows, ships, shaders, all the exotic ornaments and probably the best looking armour too (going off previous seasons). This should tell you exactly where Bungalows priorities are. So yeah get your mums credit card out kids, your gonna need it.

            • QUESTION - I'm guessing EP is a world instance event similar to how public events work yes? So question is, me being a solo player, can I jump into a world and be match maked with fellow guardians or do I need to enter with a fireteam of 3? Thanks

                • Not to ask a dumb question but after the first week how many people will be below 340? I know they said they are making leveling a longer grind but if im doing the math right it will take 5 weeks to get a full set of armor and i doubt it will be viable for anyone other than collectors and those that only play for the event once a week.

                • So....after knee capping the non raid/trials players for level progression you took the one possible event that held a slight silver lining and trashed it too. Someone needs lessons on course correction without yanking the wheel 180 degrees with every adjustment. smh.

                  • So basically if you manage to defeat the 7th wave and haven't made a key on the character yet, you wont get the chest(armour) reward?

                    • Wait. Only 3 weapons? That's it? So where do we get the rest or is that really it. I'm not trying to sound like a butt head. This is a looter shooter with very little loot. Please bungie drop a few new guns every week until fall.

                      • This sounds multiple kinds of bad. So here are some questions and concerns. 1. Why are there 5 bosses and only 3 weapon drops? This is a new activity, and thus there needs to be a weapon for every slot of every type. If that takes more time than the 5 months you guys had to put this together then whatever, but something needs to be done. Otherwise, week 4 is going to see a huge drop off, as players rarely stick around for armor and all the hardcore players will have gotten the 3 guns before then. There needs to be A kinetic HC, Scout, Pulse, Sidearm, AR, and SMG. The same for Energy (and maybe don't make the energy sidearm burst or full auto because we have enough of those) At the very least, the weapons should cover all the Power slots to make them have some kind of reasonable appeal. Sniper, Shotty, SMG is questionable. 2. What reason is there to play EP after you've gotten the rewards for the week? Has that been thought about? Loot from endgame activities that are supposedly the most difficult in D2 should not have loot dropping at the soft cap. Court of Oryx kept people coming back because you could get hard cap artifacts. Archon's Forge kept people coming back because you could get hard capped Ghosts and Artifacts, as well as high light gear and weapons. (Not to mention random rolls, but this isn't about that) 3. I hate to be the one to say it, but a weekly lockout isn't fun for anyone. It's poor time gating to make the content feel drawn out and fresh. If anything, keep the reward order the same, but instead of making players wait a week, allow them to get the next item in line after acquiring the first.

                            • I don't even know what to say anymore. We give ideas to improve the loot system and this is what you come up with. 1. Take out the token system. This is the stupidist reward system I've ever seen. 2.stop limiting what we can grind for each week. If I want 50 keys, give me 50 fing keys that I can use anytime! .... you know what, I give up. Do what you want. I hope this game fades away.

                                • Why don’t you guys stop putting out little content that can only be unlocked week by week and instead start putting out more content that is randomly rolled like it used to be so experienced players can grind as much as they want throughout the week. Lmao enjoy the influx of players every Tuesday and then a sharp decline for the rest of the week once everyone gets there one item 😂
