Infinitus Part 1 Chapter 3

Woweeeee -------------------------- The Past. "Guardian? Eyes up, Guardian!" I opened my eyes to the azure blue sky. I haven't has rest like that in a very long time. I feel my chest to where the sniper had taken his shot and...nothing? I get up to look at myself but... nothing. My body is completely intact apart from a few holes in my clothing. "It worked...you're alive! You don't know how long I've been looking for you. I'm a Ghost, actually, now I'm your Ghost, and you, well you've been dead a long time. So you're gonna see a lot of things you won't understand." Ghost was interrupted by a ravenous howl in the distance. "What the hell was that..." I asked "This is Fallen territory, we aren't safe here. I have to get you to the city. Hold still" It looked like he shattered into a million pieces in front of me but then I heard him speak...in my head? "Don't worry, I'm still with you. We need to move, fast." I didn't know what was happening but my instinct told me to listen to the Ghost. I got up and it felt like I hadn't used my legs in a lifetime. It looked that way too, everywhere I looked, it seemed like time had taken over reality. Rusted cars littered the landscape almost as far I could see. I look out to the horizon and notice movement. It looked like they could have been ants, I didn't know what they were and I didn't want to stick around to find out because one thing was certain, they were booking it towards me. I turned to look at the opposite direction and I was met by a wall. Not just any wall, it was the biggest wall I had ever seen...I think. I spot a entrance way with no door and I try my best to run to it. I may be an Exo, but I have the limitations of a normal human, at least it feels that way. My joints feel like they had been welded into place, I could barely move but I needed to go faster if I wanted to survive. "Let me help you with that" Ghost said. And a second later, that feeling of being so immobile disappeared. I felt as if I could have ran forever. "What did you do to me?" I asked "Not me, the Traveler" Ghost responded. "Who's the Traveler?" "It's a LONG story, I'll explain later, right now, we need to focus on getting through that wall." Going the entrance, it was pitch black, good thing I had night vision, very limited night vision, but it was something. I was about to go through a set of gates when I was hit by a tremendous amount of pain. My head felt like it was being crushed by a huge wrench. "Guardian? Guardian! Are you alright? Guardian, are you alright?" I couldn't hear him. In fact, I couldn't hear anything, or see, or anything. I fell to the floor with my hand grasping my head in a feeble attempt to somehow get rid of the pain. I can't describe it but there were images that appeared in my head, my thoughts. I didn't know where I had seen them, but I remember exactly what it was. Maia. Dax. JB. Mom. Dad. The Exodus project. The wall. The cries of the damned. The Traveler. The Eliksni. The Hive. The Vex. The Cabal. The Darkness. "...guardian. Guardian, get up! We need to move, now!" What just happened? "I'm up, I'm up." I told Ghost. "Good, because the Fallen are about caught up to us. We need to go immediately." What just happened? I get up to a dark corridor. The only source of light was a broken window with piercing moonlight shining through. "Here, I've got you." Ghost said as he appeared out of nowhere and shined a light in the oblivion that we were at. I ran though the corridors for who knows how long. I kept running until we got to a balcony edged by rusted railing. "Hold here, I'll see whats up ahead." Ghost suggested. I saw him fly into the darkness as he left me alone. A second later, there was a ball of light that looked like it exploded but somehow, illuminated the entire place. It was a giant canyon of iron as far as anyone could see. Ghost flew back to me faster than I could keep track of him "Um, I need to you to keep calm, but we have guests." I look to my right and there was a humanoid creature on the wall, watching me. I back up out of surprise but my sudden movement cause the creature to jump in front of me. I almost stumbled but I recovered and prepared my fist to fight. The creature saw this and charged towards me with a knife covered in lightning. It was fast, but not fast enough. It took a swipe at me but I side stepped and punched it as hard as I could in it's body. It flew back to the wall it was at but this time, there was an anaemic mist that evaporated from the base of the creatures neck. I knew it wasn't gonna get back up, at least any time soon. I looked down at my feet and noticed the knife that it had dropped. I picked it up and decided to use it. The moment I had it in my grip, the lightning changed to a dark purple, fluid entity. I asked Ghost what it was but there was no response. Weird. It was the only weapon I had so I couldn't complain. It was very well balanced for a knife and was around the size of my forearm and it looked like it had been used for a very long time, as it was evident from the scars on the blade. "What that is, is Void energy. How it came, I do not know, but the Speaker would." "Who's the Speaker?" I asked. "Again, long story, just focus on the task at hand." "A please would be nice" I teased Ghost as I ran. "Please." He responded back. We got to a gate and I couldn't believe what I saw. It was a gun. "Oh a gun, that'll help, a lot. Go and grab it and we'll be on our way." It was a mix of gold, darkness and emerald. The revolver looked huge but when I picked it up, it was strangely light. "Yours, not mine." Was carved by the wall I picked it up at. How was this not already picked up? Those must have been someone's last words, as there was a skeleton hunched below the carving. "LOOK OUT!" Ghost yelled. As if out of instinct, I pulled the gun up to where Ghost was looking and struck the hammer with my palm. There was a shower of blood as another one of those creatures flew back from where I had shot it. It landed on the floor, but after a moment, it got back up and started to run toward Ghost and I, but unlike the first one, it had two, full sized swords charged with lightning. I shot my gun again until I saw the same anaemic mist leave its' body. "That was close. Good job on that by the way." Ghost sighed. "Yeah" I responded as I let out the breath that I hadn't realized that I was holding. "Come on, we've got a ways to go before we get to the city. We need to find a ship." Ghost said. By now, I had learned that it was for the best that I listen to Ghost. More of those creatures littered the complex. Where have I seen them before? Not just from today, but I felt like I had seen them somewhere else. I try my best to avoid them as I make my way through the hallways. There were a few close calls, but I preferred not to waste any bullets. Eventually we found one. "That's an Arcadian class jumpship! We can use that to get to the city!" Ghost exclaimed excitedly. I took a look at it, it looked almost as rusty as the cars outside of the wall and the biggest thing I noticed that it was missing a part of its left wing. "Can it fly?" I asked Ghost with an obvious hint of worry in my voice. "I'll make it work." Ghost responded confidently. "Come on, get in." said Ghost "How?" I questioned. "Like this!" Suddenly, I felt my legs disappear beneath me and next thing I knew, I was in the ship. What the hell. "Alright, besides that we're missing an NLS drive and a few miles of circuitry, the backup systems are still operational and this is the best chance of us leaving this place alive so we'll be on our way to the city. So sit back and relax, we're quite a long way from the city." Ghost said. I couldn't relax. I remembered. Maia. Dax. JB. Mom. Dad. Dead. The Eliksni. The Hive. The Vex. The Cabal. Murderers.
