Here's my take on Duty Bound, the 600 rpm adaptive frame kinetic auto rifle that might drop from the Savathun's Song NF strike. Mine came masterworked with range out of the box (sorry not sorry).
Perks: It's got your choice of two short-ranged scopes, ricochet or accurized rounds, and either zen moment or rampage.
Overall Review: It's a strong alternative to The Forward Path ("TFP") and Origin Story ("OS").
Compared to TFP: Archetype-for-archetype, TFP and Duty Bound ("DB") are nearly the same weapon if you go with "zen moment." Except for a 2-point lead in aim assist, TFP has slightly better stats and better scope options for the range. Zen moment gives you roughly the same effect in PVP as TFP's "tap the trigger" perk. Obviously TFP favors burst fire and DB favors longer volleys, but there doesn't seem much practical difference in terms of feel in PVP for casual scrubs like me, especially since opponents either die or kill me before I empty a magazine - I believe only discerning PVPers will notice the difference.
Compared to OS: Both OS and DB have rampage. OS is a precision frame 450, and I know a lot of Guardians picked it up as a quest reward from Zavala and never put it down. Now there's a reason to. OS has a slower rate of fire and a significantly better recoil direction (73 versus DB's 60, which is standard for the 600 adaptive archetype), which might make OS easier to control for some. OS also has significantly greater range out of the box. However, OS only has 32 in the magazine compared to DB's 41. OS has comparable stability stat to DB, but significantly worse reload speed, handling and aim assist. If you're a PVP brain surgeon, used to low-aim assist autos (OS and The Number) and landing headshots for kills before having to reload, there will be little reason to change from OS. But if your main reason for not maining OS is the low aim assist and small mag, DB is a strong alternative.

Uh... A 330 Ros Lysis II dropped for me. I slapped a mod to it for 335 and never looked back. Now if I only had this for all of my characters.

It's a really fun weapon, not the best recoil in the first few shots but on PC that really don't matter. Perks are great.
-
Duty bound on pvp depends on what armor perks you got equipped, just letting you know, I paired it with Titan chestpiece and I was getting clutch doubles all day yesterday.

3 RepliesMeh, the gun'll suffer from the same problem all 600 rpm autos suffer from, to much recoil with to little impact
-
I don’t play pvp really at all but it’s decent for pve. It seems like a ghost prints or whatever the raid auto is but with rampage. I’m a big fan of the way it looks so I’ve been using it a lot. It’s not the best but it’s good enough to hold its own in the prestige raid so not much else you can ask for

1 ReplyI really appreciate how you defined your abbreviations from the get-go.... by and large this is not being done.
-
My personal take on DB, it's solid in pve. I lose up close in crucible, and at longer ranges. Literally the only encounters I win with it are mids. It's a solid gun for sure, and I love me an auto rifle of any kind, but there are honestly way better weapons out there. It was still cool to get though! :)

3 RepliesIt's a great AR, but just short of perfection. If it had the precision frame, it would've been a mightier beast than Uriel's.

Been grinding NF for the past 4+ weeks, 50+ NF completions and no RNG luck. Finally got this to drop on Tuesday and I love it! Totally worth the grind - both unique and it's a beast in pvp. Use a couple counterbalance mods and you are good to go!
-
I dislike adaptive frame autos, but I absolutely love this gun lol. Totally worth the grind 👍
-
I did 19 runs of this on 2.3 Solar burn and eventually got a new highscore of 96k and back to back drops on run 18 and 19 strike done for the week lol
-
7 RepliesI'm not grinding for it. I did 3 Prestige Nightfalls last night like I do every week, but I just can't grind these same strikes over and over again. They came in way too late with the exclusive rewards.
-
You know, I had no intention of grinding this gun, but just like the DFA, I got it trying to help my buds grind for it. I like it. Using Zen Moment and Ricochet Rounds.
-
Not worth the grind. Especially for that strike

Thanks for the info . You know I miss threads like this. Let’s hope more come back once warmind drops !

2 RepliesAny good for pvp?

5 RepliesI think something you are missing about the magazine size is that the amount of bullets required to kill is different for origin story. I like your breakdown but I think that the 450 rpm autos too easily beat the other autos because of their range. Although the 600 rpm ones can put down a more constant volley of bullets, origin story will be able to do it better because of a better amount of stability and over all range. The one advantage I can think of for 600 rpm autos, particularly duty bound, is that it will be a more suitable weapon for closer encounters. I prefer using the 600 rpm ones, particularly scathelocke, over any of the 450 rpm autos and if duty bound handles anythingblike it, it will definitely be a weapon I grind for. Until I get my hands on it I can't make a decision, but it sounds like a good auto to me. Now only if it was Zen moment AND rampage on at the same time, now that would be a weapon!

I got it last night, it feels really good at mid to close range with rampage turned on. I reworked the masterworks on it and I believe got it changed to range. Can't remember and cant tell from the web.
-
Got it on my first prestige nightfall with masterwork range on it 🤗
-
I must grind for it. I’ve been waiting for a kinetic 600 rpm auto with rampage!
-
1 ReplyIts stats look a bit better than ghost primus which is one of my favorite rifles at this point
-
Impressive. Good work!
