Posted by: Xerxes2552 And can I make structures phased? Could I assign a handful of structures something like INV_VEHICLE and make them spawn in phase 2, for example?
Yes, but you MUST set a respawn time on them (by default it's Never).
Posted by: JonnyOThan
Posted by: Xerxes2552 Quick question about backfield spawns in Invasion. Can backfield spawns appear in phase 2 or 3, and if so, would I do it with the "Spawn Sequence" field?
I don't think you can do this in the traditional way. But you could place 3 phased respawn points (one for each fireteam) in the same location and get the same results.
Ok, thanks! Got another question though, if I make a vehicle or weapon "gated", can the weapon or vehicle disappear even though it is currently in use? And can I make structures phased? Could I assign a handful of structures something like INV_VEHICLE and make them spawn in phase 2, for example? [Edited on 10.04.2010 4:36 PM PDT]
Posted by: JonnyOThan
Posted by: White6Lightning In Invasion you can set up backfield and phased spawn locations for each team. (Making it so players can choose where they would like to spawn by pushing down the on D-Pad.) Can you do this in a non-Invasion game-type like slayer or CTF?
Nope. But you might be able to configure Invasion Slayer or Invasion to act more like regular slayer or CTF. Are there any other settings that I am missing?
Safe Haven movement is always random.
Posted by: GanonSmash A quick question on Respawn Zones: Is it preferable, for a symmetrical slayer map, for each team to have one massive respawn zone that covers their entire half of the map, or multiple smaller zones that cover seperate areas? Does it even make a difference?
If the zones cover the same points, there isn't a difference.
Posted by: Agent Peeps I've the entire the thread but there is something I need clarification on. The soft safe zones (the green ones) It's says these are required even if we don't use them. Why? I have a small arena style map for 4v4 objective games I've been working on. I have the soft safe zone set up but does it need to encompass the entire map? If so why? I also have a question about spawns. In Halo3 I would set up my initial spawn point and set it to the specific team as necessary. I would then place my respawn points around the map for each team, all set to neutral, as required then divide the map in half with two separate spawn zones for each team. This is essentially what I've done with the current map I'm working on. Is this set up considered a "dynamic" spawn set up? I know MLG sets up their intial spawns and respawns as team specific, which would be considered static. How does the reach spawning system relate to this? Should I just stick with the tried and true method I've used in Halo3? Is there a better way? And how does the soft safe boundary effect all the spawns on the map if at all?
Safe zones (of any type) are NOT required. I don't know about the terminology "dynamic" and "static" in regards to spawning. But covering neutral points with a strong respawn zone is basically the same as setting the team for those respawn points. The strong respawn zone is so powerful that a player on that team will never spawn outside of it. Your setup is what I would use if you want teams to always spawn on their side of the map. If you want teams to be able to move around a map and spawn in their teammates away from the base, then you should try Anti respawn zones or the Weak respawn zones. Safe/Kill boundaries do not affect spawning.
How do you quote more than 1 person?

i dont understand I keep trying to make a 1 fl ctf map and when I try to do it it wont work. I dont know how to find the option for flag respawn zones? can anyone help? if you think you can fix it download it off my fileshare!

Perhaps this has been covered already, but unfortunately I don't presently have the time to wade through 28 pages of responses. Is there a way to set the "name" of a particular area? I'm referring to the little label that pops up near the radar that gives a quick reference to your location (Dish, Tower, Quarry, etc..) I'd like to be able to name the specific areas of the map I'm making, in order to facilitate team communication and the like. Is this possible?

Thanks for the help!

Johnny, Superdude thank you both. No the game type is working as it should. I can go into customs and the map and gametype (in this case mult ctf) load just fine and me and my friends can get into the game with out any issues. Both my questions were answered and now that I know that I was setting my spawn points up correctly I can go forward and start working on the other objective types. Thanks again.

I have the soft safe zone set up but does it need to encompass the entire map? If so why?
You don't need safe zones, but you may need a certain objective placed on the map for the gametype you are using. Is it telling you your map is incompatitable with a gametype? If so, what gametype are you setting it up for?
I also have a question about spawns. In Halo3 I would set up my initial spawn point and set it to the specific team as necessary. This would be considered "static" spawns. Even though they are neutral spawn points, the spawn area makes sure only our team spawns on them. "Dynamic" would just mean there is either NO respawn zone at all, or a large Neutral respawn zone encompassing the whole map (which would be the exact same thing as no respawn zone, aka pointless).
Posted by: JonnyOThan I don't know about the terminology "dynamic" and "static" in regards to spawning.
Dynamic refers to players NOt spawning only on their side of the map, while Static refers to players spawning ONLY on their side of the map.
Posted by: Chaddles23 I am making a race track and have made 15 race_flags and set their spawn sequences accordingly. But whenever I load the game as a Custom Game the race_flags spawn in a random order. what am i doing wrong?
You must select the flag's "Spawn Sequence" under the Advanced options. The first flag will be Spawn Sequence 1 and so on.

You know what about the KOTH problem, nevermind I figured it out, I did'nt realize I could make the actual Warthog the hill. /facepalm, oh well thanks anyways. Glad that one is out the way.
