Holding exotic engrams
Are y’all waiting to open exotics until the new DLC drops, or are the contents of the engrams set to when you got them?

They wont be helpful. But it makes people upset that others hold them, so hoard away.

Theyre tied to the dlc/season adn amx light level they came form. THey wont do you any good.

7 RepliesI tried that before the first DLC, had 20 of them. Every last one was old stuff, they are "typed" to the expansion they were earned in even though you can't really see it.

Everyone should do or try what ever they want. Dont worry about what others think or do. Enjoy the game however you please.

5 RepliesThe possible contents of an engram are determined when it drops, not when it is opened. Engrams earned before the dlc will not award dlc exotics.

13 RepliesI have all the exotics so I’ve kept about 8-9 engrams to open after the DLC drops... may get something new or may not, but... kept some milestone engrams too... nothing to lose right?

That doesn’t work anymore, I’m saving shards to use on the xur engrams for those new exotics though

It’s not like in d1 when a new dlc dropped you open those engrams to get new loot I do plan on opening exotics I get but not until I beat the campaign and maybe pass a few soft caps

Plus I saved up 150 mw cores. Bungie got me good with the exotic catalyst core system for exotic masterworks Edit: I doubt I’ll get new exotics, but if by some miracle I do get new exotics, I’ll let y’all know

They are already determined opon drop. I tried that last time in season 2. 10 exotics on all three characters. They all came out as old exotics. No point. However I don't know anything try it yourself to find out.

Engrams are set when they drop into your inventory, not when they're decrypted - there is no need to save. Decrypt ALL engrams, now, but [b]save your tokens[/b] and stop turning those in until after the updates (the engrams you get from turning in tokens after the update will be able to include new weaponry and armor, so it's worth saving tokens).

Saving some, but not expecting it to work. Doesn’t matter I guess... we’ll all have all the non-quest exotics within 3 weeks tops

If it works it works. If not then I have all existing exotics anyway. You may as well keep them and find out.
