Like many people, I was very excited to see Redrix's Claymore in action. Outlaw/Desperado are a powerful combination of perks that actually shred in the Crucible.
It wasn't until a few hours later that I realized how this wasn't really as powerful as I first thought. Destiny 2 already has a Desperado perk in the game that's actually better. Kill Clip.
Currently, no High Impact pulse rifle has Kill Clip, so Redrix is sitting pretty. But as soon as Bungie adds one into the game, poof, Redrix is kicked out of the meta.
Sure, Redrix has quick reloads because of Outlaw, but that also means you have to be accurate with head shots to get Desperado to activate. Body shot kills immediately ruin the flow.
Kill Clip just requires you get a kill and you are using less bullets per kill, so you won't need to reload that often.
In case you were wondering, Kill Clip vs Desperado have nearly identical or totally identical ttk.
I hope Bungie sees this so they can address this before they make an awesome weapon irrelevant.
TL;DR Desperado is just Kill Clip with extra steps.

I’m glad to see people can write a whole essay about a reskin. New content is hard

No, the DPS increase from Desparado is higher than what kill clip would be. I can already telll based off of the massive fire rate increase with no lose of impact. It won't have nearly the same because desperado last longer than kill clip.

I'm not sure the stats of the gun are what make people want it. The fact that it's somewhat difficult to get and can show off that you are good at PvP is more what it is targeted towards.
