That's the thing, Bungie really seems to have a stick up their arse about that and refuses to separate PvP and PvE. I get why The Division doesn't, because it just wouldn't make sense thematically and while it does generate some balance headaches, it's managed to work somewhat (plus just by nature of design they shouldn't). But there's no real reason why The Crucible shouldn't be a separate thing since it's specifically set up as a form of training grounds, albeit somewhat inspired by Starship Troopers lol (live fire with "casualties").
D1 didn't have nearly enough cool/OP options through exotics like my aforementioned combo, but at least it had some. it's just one more thing they inexplicably took away in D2.
And for anyone who hasn't played Diablo 3, or hasn't played in a while, I strongly suggest looking it up real fast on google/youtube to see the sheer mind numbing amount of crazy stuff you can do. We get ONE (ok 2 if you count weapon + armor) exotic in this series, most of which are underwhelming, that occasionally combo with each other and our class abilities to enable some semi cool stuff.
Diablo 3 lets you go ham, having a legendary (exotic level basically) in every equipment slot with the only restriction being you can't have 2 of the same ring, and every one of these has their own unique ability that either adds something new entirely, or modifies an existing ability. Oh and you can dismantle these in the new cube they added a while back that allows you to passively store and equip up to 3 legendary powers based on the equipment slot of the item.
The result is just nuts and a whole lot of fun. The Division is much more tame by comparison, but at least they included some pretty strong buffs in the new Classified Sets. And it's semi-realistic being set in modern day NYC. So why is Destiny, a Sci-Fi adventure set hundreds of years into the future so damned lame in this regard? Why are we being given what is essentially Halo with very light RPG elements?!
