Honestly, I feel that Gunslinger isn't as good as it was in D1. Personally, I'm a huge fan of the Outlaw tree, but there are a few things that are annoying about the subclass in general.
Firstly, the Throwing Knife. I don't know why, but my knife feels weird on the throw, like it just doesn't hit the target like it used to. I can't understand why though.
Secondly, Golden Gun itself. It's awesome, but it is way too short, and a little weak in pve (as an Outlaw). I think Outlaw's Six-Shot should get a small damage buff and more time to use it. I also have a change that makes it a little cooler. Both skilltrees of Gunslinger feel like Last Word (Outlaw) and First Curse (Sharpshooter), so what if Outlaw did more damage when not ADS'ing, and Sharpshooter does more damage when ADS'ing.
Lastly, of course, LET ME SWAP SKILLS. If I could replace Deadshot or Explosive Knife with Practice Makes Perfect, I'd have a Gunslinger GodBuild. Really, Bungie, stop catering to Casual Fags and let us hardcores have the fun of building our class abilities.
Edit: Also, GIVE US DAMAGE RESISTANCE. All other class roaming supers, ie Striker, Stormcaller, Dawnblade, Sunbreaker and Sentinel, all get crazy amounts of damage resistance. Give us Gunslingers damage resistance, too!
Second Edit: So another reason why I want damage resistance is because of how Mobile all other supers with Damage Resistance are.
Striker has more movement speed and shoulder charge
Sentinel has the shield bash combo that moves him forward
Sunbreaker (Idk)
Dawnblade - THEY -blam!-ING FLY, AND ONE SHOT THINGS.
Stormcaller - Teleport
Arcstrider - Dodge spam and more Movement speed
Gunslinger - nothin

1 ReplyThe throwing knife is hard to master in close quarters if a gunslinger likes to swing his melee to meet his target, rather than wait until it's lined up. Many players don't wait, because they know the melee has a delay across all classes of Guardian. I think being able to hold the throwing knife via holding the button would be cool so you can at least aim first before you accidentally toss it in to a rock.

I just don’t think it is fair that Golden Gun can be one shot by any super, but to take out any other super it takes two shots.

1 ReplyI would love for that class to get buffed but I have to disagree on the armor part. You dont get any armor on destiny 1 with golden gun simply Because this super only requires an aim and shoot mechanic. The hitbox on the shot is extremely generous, the range is great and its hitscan unlike the titan hammers that you can actually avoid by simply jumping out of the way. I would buff the super by granting the combustion effect, that thing was a beast on destiny 1 and felt great to get multiple kills out of one shot if people were too close together. As for the perks on the class, its not just golden gun class that needs help, arcstrider seems like the perfect synergy example of how every class should be. The bottom tree for voidwalkers are really good too however the vortex nova bomb sucks so arcstrider is better just because of something so small

3 RepliesYou can effectively one shot normal guardians and two shot people out of their supers with a simple but effective super. Gunslingers but far have the highest kill range potential out of all the other supers. However the no armour change was something copied and pasted from D1. Same thing with Blink for Voidwalkers, we lose our radar for a good 3 seconds. You do however get a slight resistance increase if you're using masterwork armour. I believe it's up 25% depending on the number of masterwork armours you have, with the Gunslinger.

As for the subclass trees, there needs to be a third pathway, no compromise. There needs to be more options and intermixing would make it to where they wouldn’t need to revamp things imo. If not, onto my next points... . Also some of the secondary pathways are extremely underwhelming and way too niche. They need revamped to be more universal and inclusive to more play styles. In particular the Titan sentinel, bottom tree is just underwhelming and the Gunslinger’s bottom path, while it caters to my playstyle, it wouldn’t do that for everyone. (Why so many melee builds btw?) I would love to see how many players actually pick these pathways to play with and how often, because I’m just guessing. Bungie should look at the data. If people aren’t using something enough, it needs to be either buffed or made more interesting and creative, or they need to intermix nodes. Just my thoughts. I haven’t played all subs yet, but those two are what stick out to me. Even Voidwalkers need some love imo. . I could go into more depth later on, I still need time with all the subclasses to know what a possible fix could be but I agree that intermixing could work. I just think there may be a better more interesting solution to improve the subclasses in D2. Also the Gunslinger being like TLW is what I envisioned golden gun to be like? I didn’t upgrade my six shot node and idk if I ever will tbh. Golden gun should be used as a peek and shoot super not necessarily roaming out in the open. Be a ninja, keep your back to the outside walls and circle the perimeter. Don’t rush the center of the map without team coordination teammates who can watch your back. Just a suggestion.

4 RepliesFull set of master work armor adds 35% defense buff,20% if your smart and use Celestial Nighthawk. No need for damage buff with the six shots,reduced time is the trade off for twice as many shots.Just like in D1 they reduced the super time when using the exotic helm that granted the 4th shot.

The need to remove set perk trees for custom class builds, remove 3 shot max for sharpshooter if you nail the precision shots, allow for 1 shot of supers on sharpshooter and extend duration after a kill with outlaw.

6 RepliesThe reason golden gun is the way it is in crucible is because it's essentially unbeatable when fighting one head on. The 0 travel time and insane aim assist make it incredibly difficult to avoid in comparison to say hammers or dawnblade where you can jump over them. I will agree to a buff to duration, but not damage resistance. The reason gunslinger dies faster than ever before is because it actually takes more damage from energy weapons, ie a high impact sniper leaves a gunslinger at 3 health in super and like 50 out of super. Now that's stupid.

1 Replyi agree on all points - if a titan is in his super it takes me 2 shots to his 1 hammer to kill the time is also really fast - should be the same as arc strider at least the three shot for pve was always weak like maybe kill a dreg - i always ran nighthawk in pve for the fun of it.

1 ReplyI thought lowering the uptime was a mistake. It felt really good at launch and it made me stop using it. My only opinion on Throwing Knife is that the explosive option is awesome.

2 RepliesI think that increasing the damage of golden gun while not ADSing would be an awesome idea, when using the outlaw path of course. A few people I know said that it should start at 4 shots, and you could sacrifice your melee and grenade charge for 2 more shots each, 8 in total. Although that seems a little specific, I personally like the idea.

5 RepliesI only disagree with the damage resistance part. Besides the fact that you can get masterwork armor, Golden Gun is the only 1-hit roaming super that’s also hitscan. This is extraordinarily powerful in PvP, and would introduce balance problems.

D2 is the one place where all those crappy subclass Exotics would have a purpose. They were next to useless in D1 but with the D2 system, they make sense.

3 RepliesI agree. I counted at least six times just yesterday that I had to 2 shot other people in their supers, but they were able to hit me once and I was dead. It's not really balanced when they have the potential to kill 5 people after they kill me, but I can only kill 2 people having to use 2/3 shots on someone in their super.

Being able to improve Hunters would be great right now, because they have never really taken over the game like Titans and Warlocks. Edit: Spelling error was fixed.
