So maybe it's a terrible hardcore grind, but it brings back that d1 feeling I missed. Good luck to everyone who actually grinds for it. Good step in right direction.
Edit: First time being on trending. Thanks for input.

so how are RNG drops different from the current system of variants where we get better devils then we have variants with a variety of perks?

38 RepliesEdited by ScaredySquirrel: 4/17/2018 6:38:56 PMRandom Rolls appeal to a particular type of unattached male with upwards around 60 hours a week to kill. I don't mean to be unkind but that type of individual usually lacks satisfaction and achievement in the real world with a career or academic accomplishment or the relationships in their lives. They place a huge time investment into a fantasy world and use the fantasy accomplishments as a means of feeling a sense of value. Obviously this isn't always true, but all too often it is. That individual due to the aforementioned 60 hours a week to kill has a heavy presence on forums but in the real world represents a very small portion of the community at large. So reading the forums it could be interpreted as a majority of the players wanting random rolls but in reality most players would find such a system tedious and unrewarding. The real solution is in mods. Letting a player be able to modify a hard earned weapon that they like into an even better version of the weapon that suits how their particular play style. I don't mean the mod system Destiny 2 has now, that's a complete disaster. Meaningful mods that you can grind and make progress toward getting that allow you make multiple changes and adjustments. Not some slot machine where you play the same stuff 60 times over for a random chance to get something half decent. Boo!

They should have rewards be a set goal that is default and enjoyable. Grinding D1's RNG was neither. Black Spindle was a good gun and it required skill in that particular strike.
-
Completely agree even tho it was tough. The reward and satisfaction after gaining loot was undisputed. 👊🏻 Threw together a thread in feedback that could hopefully give us a whole bag of carrots! https://www.bungie.net/en/Forum/Post/244576573/0/0

I agree. I'm liking the chase again.

1 Reply¤ Problem Solved .. have merchants sell the "Basic rolls" ones that come as the developers intended the gun to play as. Then "loot drops" have potential to drop Random rolls ... boom fixed ... Next.....
-
1 ReplyTotally agree! And now with new power grind we will hear more casuals cry! But I’m happy about it, very good direction! Remember those guides from D1 on how to level up? Following them felt rewarding and despite the guide you still needed to grind.
-
1 ReplyRNG grind for random rolls certainly kept us coming back for more, but this time-gated RNG for a static piece of loot isn’t good
-
21 RepliesWarframe is a game with a much more hardcore and deeper grind. So last night I grinned for warframe parts and I was one short for making a new frame but I got lots of other materials I can use else where. I had enough stufff to create two new melee weapons. Now the time i spent in destiny was five nightfalls for nothing earned. If I did more I would have lost my mind like my friend who did thirty nightfall’s for nothing. That’s what is so bull shit about this.

A fun grind is one thing. Doing the same strike under ten minutes 30 times in a row is not fun. I got the DFA, but think that there are more creative ways to grind that actually bring fun. Remember Black Spindle? The exotic weapon bounties? A little bit of RNG is one thing. But many of you guys have D1 nostalgia that glosses over how ridiculous the RNG was.
100% RNG rewards casuals, make rewards based on accomplishments and skill
-
You’re acting like there’s something to grind for...
and it’s really god damn annoying
4 RepliesTO THE CASUALS, NO PAIN NO GAIN. You got tired of one or three tries, then GO PLAY FORTNITE OR MINECRAFT, THEY WILL GIVE YOU EVERYTHING IN GOLD PLATE..
-
2 RepliesRng kept me playing. I loved the raid drop rng and super rare exotics. I loved grinding for a perfect longbow and matador. There is nothing like that and it makes this bland game so much blander.
-
I completely agree, bring back the grind
-
RNG is needed in any grind game. including Destiny. That doesn't mean the way the grind was in D1 was good or the right way to do it.
-
Grinding is nothing w/o real rng completely random weapons and armor with completely random stats. That's RnG
-
grinding for weapons, armor and materials need to come back...fast
-
Anyone know where I can find Hadronic Escenses?
-
1 ReplyLol I said the same thing I don't feel for them until they have grinded like I did for the fatebringer or vex back In d1
-
2 RepliesSome elements should be rng but it shouldn't be the end game. Players should know beforehand how much time it's going to take to accomplish a goal. Rng is an easy out for developers because they don't have to design anything. They just add an activity and give out loot randomly. I did the PNF twice last week and got the hand cannon. My buddy had already done it 15 and still hadn't gotten it. That's pathetic
-
That's not mean, this is; it is amazing in pve. The drop mag paired with fast reloading gloves and masterwork reloading bonus makes you forget it has 9 rounds.

3 RepliesNO! NO! NO! Unleash the butt hurt! Let your hatred flow! Grinding like fatherless stripper for that buck is what we've needed! Farming is what a lot of players did back in the day and will still do! It's these damned kids and their pants expecting marathon porn runs condensed down to a 60 second session of selfish instant gratification that can't figure out that if they want it REALLY badly, they'll hustle. "But DustyROV, they made getting gear including exotics easier." Bull. I've yet to get all the exotics and a lot of the more sought after legendaries ain't dropping. And I say, "About time." Plus, how much ya wanna bet they've done the grind for other games? Oh, they won't admit that because poo-pooing on their beloved Warframe, CoD, Titanfall 1 & 2, Overwatch, Fortnite, etc., would be bad karma. So, please, don't worry about upsetting people when you cheer the grind. Just remind them that they don't have a leg to stand on when they want to try to take a crap here....

The issue with rng could have been solved with the token system. You could have set it up where if you didn’t receive an item in let’s say 10 try’s. You could earn enough tokens to buy the item. And said tokens reset every week. The problem with rng is that some time it lines up perfect and you get the drop first time or on the other side could run it 100 times and just not get it. Bungie always talks about balance but they have never balanced the rng with a reward system that actually works.
