It’s what I’d expect.
D2 built for casuals and everyone leaves.
Hardcore remains adamant about more grind so an activity is created via Bungie that relies on RNG grind.
Casuals scream bloody hell.
Cry about how many attempts etc etc.
Hardcore embrace the grind and accept that RNG can be cruel and sometimes the opposite.
Guess what?
It took years for some players to get the guns/rolls they wanted in D1.
If random rolls come back in September the crying will only intensify.
Suck it up.
You want D2 to get better? The RNG grind is one component to getting it headed back in the right direction.
EDIT April 17: Good discussion Guardians. This topic is one that should be addressed at the Summit. Getting the thoughts and opinions from the actual player base is what Bungie needs to better the game.
EDIT April 18: As you scroll through the comments and opinions below you get a strong sense of just how diverse the Destiny community is. Trying to please some by creating a Casual game alienating others(Hard core) by shifting too far in that direction. Let’s hope Bungie can get their heads around this and clearly define what Destiny 2 truly is going to be?

I didn't get the DFA last week. I'm cool with that. Now I have something else to look forward to. Grind it the next time around.
-
I must have ran the NF 40 times and I never got it. I did get a sweet Halo emblem, though.

here is an rare message from Justin timberlake enjoy Frankie Croft Smales

To be completely honest, the grind for the DFA is some of the most fun I've had in D2 for a while. I didn't even get it, and I'm already looking forward to the next chance to grab one. Despite the numerous issues in D2 that have prevented me from logging in regularly, one of the biggest became apparent this week; the game was lacking in motivating factors to get me to log on. Even if the core gameplay still needs a major overhaul, having a desirable item with a low drop rate actually made playing seem worthwhile, and I find myself wondering what the next nightfall is. It's not the solution to D2's issues, but it's a major thing that was missing from D1. Add more motivation factors like that in, and the game will become worth hanging around to see if they can fix it. Don't want grind? Don't play loot-based games.
-
Honest question: Does the DFA offer anything of significant value over my Better Devils? If yes, I might try and get it...in September. If not, I won't waste my time on it.
-
Got it my 5th try. Don't really like it's recoil pattern or mag size very much, but it's not too bad. I would rate it...6/10 for "it's alright"
-
Im crying over the fact i had two seperate clans at 40 plus each .. I had to convince a few real friends to try and run a few nightfalls. I did not want too LFG for a grind, or grind solo for low drop rate. However thats why it was heroic strike exlcusive loot in D1 .. because THERE IS NO Nightfall MATCHMAKING. I would like too see the matching happen cause i have no friends left on this game...
-
You just made a pointless post. Random Rolls is coming with the September Update.

Edited by Divine_Majin93: 4/17/2018 4:41:38 PMBecause most of the grinders are gone and the ones that are complaining are the ones the game was built for: non-grinders. Personally, it's cool that some sort of grind is back. Now if only the rewards were worth the effort........ What's the point in grinding so hard for a static roll already inferior to other existing choices upon conception?
-
Too bad the grind is focused on activities that require fireteams. The beginning of D1 was much more solo player friendly as there were no exotic quests requiring fireteams and no nightfall exclusive gear. Isn't it enough to already have raid and Trials specific gear that requires fireteams? At least make the nightfalls matchmaking optional.
-
Wow! Yet another thread full of assumptions and contradictions. What evidence do you have to suggest it's just the "casuals" crying? You're only really moaning about other people moaning. Which makes you no better than those moaning.
-
Problem is the grind is not worth the reward, is that simple
-
Me and some clan mates did this well over 40 times. It dropped 3 for me during those times. One other clan mate got his as well. I don’t mind the grind for a weapon, but I won’t grind for a ghost or sparrow.
-
It’s the internet man people will bitch about anything
-
its because everyone who wanted a grind left because of the lack of grind and how slow it has taken to implement systems that should have been in the game from the start. all those complaining are just filthy casuals who want to eververse every item because playing takes to much time bloody cry babies ruined this game
-
I think there are quite a few players complaining about where they put the grind and not the grind itself. Part of what I miss about D1 is that if you were finished the weekly reset, or if you didn't have enough friends on, you could still jump into a strike and chase down that 1 in 100 exotic chance. Repeating the exact same strike and having to find a group to do it just isn't what I had hoped for.
-
People expect to be handed everything to them asap in this game lol quite funny
-
I got the D.F.A after about 8-10 Nightfalls. And my rng has always been the worst. Mine actually dropped as a masterwork too. There are guns in D1 I still don't have.
-
Well stated.
-
Every LFG group I joined in the 30+ nightfalls I did to get DFA we discussed how great it was that there was a sense of accomplishment back to Destiny. RNG might be random and luck based, but if you've done 30 off nightfalls for the gun then you worked for it. That was what was so great about D1 and is so sorely lacking in D2, any sense of accomplishment and this is a huge step back in the right direction.
-
Look at butthurt condescending Bungie Defender OP crying about it
you should just be happy people are playing this trash
-
No grind here, got it after my first completion.
-
RNG grind is not a bad thing however it can be terrible depending on the amount of options for example if you have 3 rolls per weapon and say a pool of 20 stats that the RNG picks from that will make the grind insane... but if its a pool of is 5 stats the grind will still be a lot but not to the point that people give up. To be honest I didn't even notice a grind for D.F.A. took 4 runs to drop for me another 10 for the other fireteam members so less than 20 runs is not a bad grind at all we had fun doing it.
-
I feel it bud. I don’t get the crying. This is what it’s all about. I got mine and it felt good. I spent hours to get mine. Easily 8 or so hours of constantly grinding. Funny enough only to discover it’s easier to get on regular NF
-
D1 Day 1 here. Grinding 20+ Nfs this week and finally got one. Doesnt even come close to grinding for god roll imago loop in year 2 or 1k stares. The game is meant for grind. Suck it up.
-
I've seen my share of both hardcore and casual moaning about the DFA grind. The crying crosses all demographics. There are no "typical" hardcore players nor are there "typical" casuals. I doubt this "community" could even agree on a definition of player types, let alone agree on the definition of "grind". It's not HC vs Casual, PvPer vs PvEer, community vs Bungie either. Until people move past D1 vs D2 the petty arguments won't end. I'm hoping that DLC2 and summer roadmap finally starts to shift the focus to the future and away from the past. The Summit is the opportunity to chart this course.
